QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 12, 2009 -> 11:00 AM) He's got his confidence back... this is very good. Thanks for the props on my calling Hawks in 6, btw. Don't be selective or anything. When the Hawks win in 6 and then Caps in 5, I'll give you all the props you want. I don't put much value on predictions, anyone can make them (and certainly anyone does), and whether you are right or wrong, doesn't prove or disprove how much you know about hockey, yes? -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 12, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) I remember that series, I was down in Champaign, and we saw on TV that there still tickets available for the home games, which we couldnt believe. We got tix, drove up there, as the Hawks were in the midst of getting shut out for like 8 straight periods or so by Brathwaite. Not fun. The UC wasnt even sold out for the home games that series. You mean Brent Johnson I was at both games, game 1 was sold out, game 2 wasn't quite. Upper rows of the corners and ends weren't filled. That series had Blues fans getting the s*** beat out of them at the end of game 4. Fists flying everywhere around 329/330. -

For the first time since going with season tickets to games as a kid at the Chicago Stadium, my ears are legitimately ringing as I type this. Happened every night as I went to bed. I can't describe how awesome this is for me and all the die hard Hawks fans out there that have endured such a brutal team for years. We never went away. It's great to have that ringing back. BTW Steve, how's the crow taste on Kane? You love him now! f***ing sick backhand, good God. BTW, I haven't seen a game in a while with so many absolute laser goals. And f*** all this 'the rest of this is gravy' talk after the Calgary series. I f***ing want the Stanley Cup, end of story, nothing else is gravy. It's like everyone's waiting to pull out the 'they were too young to win, they need experience, now they can go win.' No reason they can't win now, none. That's hindsight backwards thinking. Go f***ing win. I'm never satisfied with division championships/winning one playoff game/winning one series, etc. Go play your ass off against whoever we play next, and let the chips fall how they may. -

Let's end this thing tonight and rest up until the weekend. I'll be there tonight...haven't been to this big of a game since 1996. That's ridiculous. Let's do it. -

Whenever you get a pop, order it with no ice. The drink comes cold out of the machine...so it doubles the amount you get, as you don't need ice to the top of damn cup like they always do. -
"Beep Beep" phones are bad. f***ing pick up the phone and have a natural phone call. Yes, people need to stop being addicted to their phones. Having 50 text conversations is normal these days it seems. People have such short attention spans and are preoccupied with other people that they just sit on the phone. This is a huge problem with the under 20 demographic. They aren't even sharing relevant information, just texting because they can. Texting while having an actual conversation with a person in front of you...well, that should get you kicked in the nuts/vagina.

I'd f***ing s*** myself if I got near that thing. And why is it only an inch and a half thick? Is that to show off or something? I don't see the point.

Awful play all around on the winning goal. Kane should have been covering the point when Barker broke to the net hard as Kane was skating laterally, but didn't (maybe he didn't see him). I will add that it was an awful pass by Versteeg, under no pressure, right into the skates of Kane. That started the turnover. He wasn't open, and you're passing backwards with a D breaking and lots of Canucks in the slot. Just terrible by Steeger. As for Barker, it wasn't the worst mistake to rush to the net with Versteeg with control. I have more of a problem with his backcheck, which I think will go overlooked comparatively. First off he stopped skating one stride after reaching the stanley cup playoffs logo. Then, his only concern coming back, since he will have no play in the 2 on 1, is to beat the 3rd guy to the net and be looking for the rebound to clear. He has Salo beat to the net by just a bit, then trails off towards the right post (skates over the right hash) for no apparent reason. If he skates down the middle of the ice he's got the rebound into the corner, instead he has to stop, flail and lose his balance trying to get a stick on the puck that is just barely to the left of center, and he just misses it. Just so disappointing to lose on that type of play. 3 things went wrong to lead to the goal. OT was right there. I guess the CBC feed had a good shot of Bowman ripping into Campbell to Tallon after the EN goal. Apparently it was a bad bounce, but puck was blocked by the boards so no one saw it. They need to stay out the box. All those penalties were earned. Keep your stick out of people's faces. Toews must be really hurt or sick. 13:46 of ice, not on the ice in crunch time. Consider me very worried about it. Game plan in the zone needs to continue to be getting traffic to the net and garbage goals, 2/3 were those tonight. You aren't going to beat Luongo very often when he can square and see the shot. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) The Sedin twins.. they are a couple of pussies. To be honest, I think we'll do fine against Vancouver. They barely held off the Flames in their division, and only have home ice because of stupid rules that division winners get the top 3 seeds. Just because they are the 3 seed does not mean they are better than the Blackhawks... quite the opposite in fact. Hawks in 6. The Canucks are a much better team than the injury depleted Flames. This matchup is much tougher. Knock the Sedin twins if you wish, but they each put up 82 points this season. Anyone remember the last 2 games we had against them this year and how they played in those games? They are great players. Add in the fact that Luongo is a much better goaltender than Kip, and this matchup is tough. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 12:31 PM) The Canucks would have home-ice. The re-seeding is based on original playoff seed. HOPEFULLY we win, and then it will be. 2. Wings 8. Ducks 3. Canucks 4. Hawks The Canucks seem to be in charge of their series, the Wings are in for sure. IF the Sharks come back, and the Hawks win, it'd be. 1. Sharks 4. Hawks 2. Wings 3. Canucks Yeah, I would definitely say they are 'in charge' of their series. It's pretty difficult to come back from a 4-0 deficit in a 7 game series. History is definitely not on their side -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) LOL. I am glad I "played" the game with you of pointing out your ridiculous statements. Although I will give you the fact its pretty ballsy you continue to hammer the point even though you were pwned a few pages back. And with a player like Campbell, if his +/- stays positive, I consider that a pretty good season since offensively he was more effective than his putrid defensive skills. And without Campbell on this team, there is no way the Hawks are playing the Flames in the first round, they definately fall a few seeds. I'm glad I can play the game with you pointing out a quote of mine which means absolutely nothing to whatever argument you are trying to make. Apparently since I didn't say exactly "this is the worst signing in the history of the world," I cannot be critical of one Brian Campbell. That is your point. I was excited Chicago was a target city for once, however the money made me really stop and think about the cap as we went on, also with Huet on board, hoping it wouldn't hurt us. Now his play in the defensive zone is WORSE than I ever expected, and he's been brutal in the playoffs, as he was for SJ. I'll b**** about it all I want. You don't pay a guy that much money to be something like a +1 player. He is expected to do a lot more and he should be doing a lot more. Some of the s*** he's done this year, he hadn't done in the past to this degree. That's why this contract is not justified right now. It's become more clear as the year has gone on how bad he is for this money. It's been his play this season, not the decision on July 1. BTW, sweet logic on Campbell in regards to our seeding. I won't even touch it since Tony already did. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 08:04 AM) Gotya, I believe I said, or certainly meant to convey, that elite players should score there, but not getting a shot on net was the inexcusable part. He pushed it 2 feet wide from 4 feet away, and this was minutes after lofting a weak wrist shot into the gut of Kip instead of something that might stand a chance. Regardless, the team on a whole played like crap last night, and the Flames' top line is really hurting us. Game 5 has become a must-win. I went back and looked it again...the pass was well behind him, and he tried to get the shot off as quickly as possible and by the shot blocker that was going down in front of him. The shot did look really awkward, but there was a good reason for it. So yes it looked pretty goofy. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) Just because I oppose your nonsensical rants blaming losing streaks on a player who YOU were excited to sign, doesnt mean he's my boy, in fact I dont like him much at all. You should bookmark post 1731 in this thread to remember how ridiculous you are on this subject. If you want nonsensical, read any of your hockey posts. You have brought that quote up many times, at which point I said he would be better than Jason Williams on the PP (fact), that his play in the defensive zone leaves something to be desired (fact) and that he is not physical pretty much at all (fact). This year, his defense has been even worse than anyone thought it would be! Thanks for playing. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 11:57 PM) Or maybe you are full of yourself for telling me it wasn't a video game. That was a rude, full of yourself comment and you know it. You said should have scored, right?. I know that you know no chance like that is a 'should have scored' so I don't know why you said it. You can't always just snipe a 3 inch by 3 inch corner and beat Kip. That's what your comments led me to believe, like it was a guaranteed goal in a video game. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 11:52 PM) You should try to be more full of yourself. I'm not saying he should have burried it. I'm saying he shouldn't have missed the freaking net by 2 goddamned feet. Your inability to comprehend such a simple concept shows that you have the blinders on... I've never seen a worse wrist shot in my life. I'm well-aware there were other guys who sucked it up in that game, but Kane had the game on his stick and completely wet the bed. That was the least accurate wrist-shot I've seen all season, and it came at a very important time. OK, now I'm full of myself for not simply focusing on one shot by one guy near the end of the game, and instead dissecting an entire game. Got it. Carry on. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 11:51 PM) Way to go and kick my ass, illini. You're completley correct, and the comeback was impressive. I'm just pretty pissed off over some of the play i saw towards the end of the game We're all pissed as f***, they just came up short tonight and now Saturday is pretty much a must win. But I don't think any of it is really due to a lack of effort or not caring. There are plenty of mistakes being made, but this team is playing hard. They just didn't get the goal in the 3rd to take the lead or tie it, and Calgary pounded home a rebound. -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 11:46 PM) Watching the career of Kane is going to be extremely interesting. I'm really not sure which way it's going to go. I mean, it's not like guys his size haven't survived the league(Marty St. Louis comes to mind) but with Kane starting to get the soft tag put on him, it will be interesting to see how he responses. At this point, I don't know if I would put the "Franchise" tag on him yet. It's clear Toews has it, and for me, Keith in basically invaluable to this team. Agreed and I've liked Toews more than Kane from day one, even though a lot of people were caught up in the flash and #1 overall of Kane. Don't get me wrong we should want to keep all 3 because they are all excellent players, we just don't know if that's possible because of Rockraines' boy. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 11:41 PM) Don't give me that crap. He's supposed to be one of our top 3 players. He had time, he was right in front of the net and he shoudl have scored. He had 70 points, but he had about 48 of those in the first 42 games or something wild like that. He's been Versteeg-lite since he got injured. We still hold home ice, and the Flames are going to remember what a pain it is to play in the UC, but Kaner missed a couple of golden opportunities, and to be honest, we looked like we didn't belong on the ice with the Flames in that 3rd period. Their top line was wayyyyy more dominant than anything we could put together. I completely disagree with your assessment and expectation of guaranteed goal on a last minute shot, I'll leave it at that. It's not a video game. He was far from the only one that didn't have his best game out there. You're missing the forest for the tree. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 11:34 PM) Agreed. Ever since he injured his ankle before the Winter Classic and then was PR-forced to play in that game, Kane hasn't been the same. We might as well have me out there, because I damn sure could have hit the net on that attempt. He just f***ing THREW it in there and pushed it two feet wide from 4 feet away. Honestly, an NHL player puts that one not only on the net, but in the corner for a tie game. Unacceptable from anyone, let alone the first overall selection who has regressed in his 2nd season. We still hold home ice, but we woke up this beast of a top line on Calgary and are in serious trouble. You make it sound like it was a tap in or something. It wasn't. Don't take such a microscopic look at the game by doing that. Some of the other things you said are warranted, but you're off on 'the shot.' There's so much blame to be thrown at other guys. The guy still had 70 points in 80 games, let's calm down a bit here.
