  3. Yeah but if you go to Iowa, Alford WILL be there.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) Exactly. Tickets.com and the Comiskey box office. Hopefully they go on sale at the box office well before they are up on ticketmaster
  5. Keith...is that teacher discount for Wednesday an online code for ticketmaster? If so...what is it. I might be there Wednesday as well. As Steve said, the bus* will be coming back to chicago frequently during september and october. *We don't have a bus, but it sounds cool.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 01:23 AM) Hold down A for X-Box. For PS2, I assume it's X. Or whatever the bottom button is on the little diamond of four buttons. Can anyone suggest a playbook? I'm fed up with Northwestern's "just about everything is shotgun" offense, and I'm looking for a new one. Preferably one with some lots of option plays. My best advice is to go into practice mode and check out all the formations. Find the ones you want, then customize your own playbook to best suit your team. I don't think you can beat that.
  7. I've gone to a few games by myself. I don't have many friends who are Sox fans (especially outside this board), so it's hard to get people to come out to the games sometimes. The only drawback on going by yourself is that you have no one to split parking and gas with, both of which are costly at this point in time. You also don't have anyone to talk about the game with. I'd almost rather go alone, though, then go with someone who isn't really into the game and will talk about stupid crap the whole time. Going alone allows you some thinking time and to just enjoy nothing but the game in front of you. It's some great alone time. However, going with a good friend and fan of the team/game can't be beat
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) I told you we don't have your silverware NOW LEAVE ME ALONE!!! He's right... ...I've got it
  9. Yeah i just heard this on the Score. I heard the third offense is a life time ban. Works for me...
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) Idonno if that was a great idea.... He won yes.. but he won with another coahes players.... Id of liked to see him win with his players b4 getting a long contract. If Bill Self was behind our bench this year, we don't make it to the final four. Zero argument. I see your point, but Weber is an amazing X and O coach, as well as a great 'player's coach'. He got the most out of our guys...they believed in the true team concept and believed in each other. To discredit Weber for this year's accomplishments is ignorant. Bottom line is that Weber can win with good players, whether they are his or not.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) So who cries on whose shoulder at these things? I usually cry on Steve's shoulder...he was a freshman with a purpose
  12. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) is there a seacat highlight brian? we'd definitely be on the DVD if there was NO, LOL However, there are some extra features on the DVD, including the famous introduction video at Assembly Hall. If you've been to a game, you know what i'm talking about... ---Insert Steve and Brian twisting their pointer finger as Podsednik leads off the bottom of the first---
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) Tell Brian to leave his Buehrle jersey at home. LOL
  14. I'm not necessarily talking controls as in buttons, i'm talking about the speed of the game, etc.
  15. For the past 3 years i've owned NCAA and Madden. Each year, my Madden playing has gone down. Last year, i played Madden exactly one time. Luckily, i was able to sell it to a friend later. This year, i'm not buying it. For one, i just have more fun playing NCAA. I also haven't been that impressed with Madden, and from what i'm hearing/reading, this one is going to be subpar. Another problem i ran into was that the gameplay of the two games were so much different. It would take me a few games to get back into "madden mode" or "ncaa mode", depending on which one i had just played. Kind of a pain in the ass, especially if you are playing head to head against people and it takes you a little while to adjust again. I like focusing on one game...that's just me.
  16. Well Keith i see your point, but it will also attract more viewers, which is key as well. People might tune into an OT game in hopes of a shootout. Maybe they'll even tune in a bit earlier than that to watch a good game in the 3rd period. What you mentioned, though, with smaller pads, crackdown on obstruction (the BIGGEST thing that needs to be done), etc...it's all part of it. It's what will bring fans back. Smaller pads, crackdown on clutching and grabbing, possibly removing the red line...in my book, those are all realistic changes just for the betterment of the game, not because of the lockout. The shootout, IMO, has arised mainly due to the lockout. It's a gimmick - the other changes aren't IMO. Tag up offsides and no touch icing, however, won't really draw fans. It's a nice in-house change that only real hockey fans will even notice. Hell, how many people can actually explain touch-up offsides? But hey, you have to start somewhere.
  17. I just got done watching "A Season To Remember", a DVD about the 2004-2005 Illinois basketball team. If you are an Illini fan, this is a MUST own. It is a great piece of work from beginning to end. I had chills many different times throughout and cried at certain points at the tale end. It came out recently and i was finally able to get a copy of it. I know you can order it from www.fightingillini.com Of course if you are down in Champaign, it is easy to get a copy of it there. I don't know if it's anywhere in the Chicagoland area quite yet. Man, what a ride it was. Anyway, enjoy the DVD

    Are you a seeder?

Just remember who introduced you to BBQ, Steve. I told you they were good. I always bring seeds to the game, and sometimes i'll eat em watching a game on tv.
  19. Shootouts - I'm a hockey "purist" and about as die-hard as you'll find about the game. But the shootout is a good idea. I don't mind ties, because i like earning a point instead of zero points for a good 60+ minutes of hockey. I'm probably alone in this, but oh well. However, the NHL has no following, even before the lockout. No one watches hockey except die hards. Throw a lockout in there, and you have to do everything but put strippers on skates in order to draw some fan interest. It's not going to be used in the playoffs, which is all that matters to me. I know it's a very, very minor part of the game (breakaways don't happen often, let alone a penalty shot, for those of you who don't watch often). But it will be exciting and it will attract more fans to the game. Is it a gimmick? Kind of. I hate gimmicks, but this one will be alright. For the time being, we have to bite the bullet on some s*** we may not like for the good of the game. They really had no choice with this one.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) LMAO... I'm betting there wont be much of that with the addition of a missus to your life. Yeah, but she won't be on campus next year
  21. Just don't let steve (soxnbears) win, that's all i ask.
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) I don't know about you guys, but I don't plan on paying attention to an Illini football game until at least November because of the Sox. I get your point, but saturday morning college football games once a week aren't hard to pay attention to
  23. Yeah he is...this thread is killing me though... Oh well, i gone
