    Colleges

I'll be a senior this year at U of I, and my major is training soxnbears to be just like me. LOL
  2. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) For those of you who've played hockey, I locker boxed today. In full goalie gear, and I swear i almost knocked out a defenseman with the blocker. My team has outlawed blockers in future matches. Oh man, one time i got pounded so hard in a locker box i think i had a concussion...back when i was 11 or so. Also, you used a freakin blocker? That's ridiculous. A 5 year old girl would probly beat most hockey players if you give her a blocker. I can't believe they let you use that to begin with. Note, i've taken my share of blockers to the face mask in front of the net during scrums in the crease. I used to piss the hell out of goalies in high school.
  3. Sorry, but starting El Duque in game one would be idiotic IMO. I don't care about "matchups" or "curses" or any of that garbage. If you go down, you will go down with your best guys. MB has proven he's the 'ace' of this staff with Garland close behind, and those guys should be taking the ball in game one and 2 (and then 4 and 5 possibly) regardless of who we play, or whatever matchup you want to consider.
  4. And Notre Dame doesn't have to share any bowl money with a conference. PS Greasy, your homefield advantage is no such advantage. Crimson Crew, lol
  5. Finally it's done. Let's nab Kariya.... Kap props to you, and yup the Hawks will be making the playoffs this year. Things are looking up for us Hawks fans.
  6. Damn it, i want to play too...will be back at school though.
  7. Good pitchers pitch through errors. They happen. That doesn't mean you throw meatballs that get smoked the rest of the inning. I'll never forget a kid on my high school team a few years back...guy got on on an error with 2 outs. So everything will now be "unearned." He walks the next 2 guys, then gives up a grand slam. Comes to the bench after he gets out of the inning and says "unearned grand slam". Terrible mentality. Also, Crede just needs to learn how to set his damn feet and/or throw off the correct foot when he has the time. He's too much of a show off at 3rd sometimes.
  8. Yeah Perrault is by far and away one of the top faceoff guys in the league. I'd couple him with another forward...though i'm not thrilled about Lindros, at all. I hate the guy, i don't know how i'd root for him.
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) Any Frat or Sorority Houses nearby? Frat guys are dbags. "frat hat" Sorority girls are all over the map, there are so many of them that some are down to earth and cool and others are just paris hilton wanna be's. I've said that if i was a girl i'd probly be in a sorority, it's not nearly as bad as being in a frat IMO. So i don't usually rip on frat girls. Hell, my gf was one.
  10. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) last year my roomate sucked so it was hell. He enjoyed halo as much as we enjoy the sox. And by halo i mean screaming into his headset ALOT. this year i got a single room to myself, really looking forward to it. The whole community bathroom thing kinda sucks, but it wasn't terrible. But i did like the community that your floor is after awhile. When everyone has their doors open and you can just go and hang out, it's really a cool atmosphere. Especially since there were some good sox fans on my floor You forgot to mention the fact that your roomie puked on his laptop, i think you said it was like the "best day ever" or something at the time.
  11. QUOTE(Nokona @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) B-Town hurting that much? honeslty guys, my two choices have come down to iowa and illinois. Any reasons as to why our very own U of I beats Iowa? I mean from word on the street Iowa's Bars > Illinois' +1 pt Hawkeyes. Because it's f***ing Iowa.
  12. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) i've never used my checkbook, or balanced it. Debit card all the way. Online banking rules I got a checkbook and debit card right before i went to college. Didn't use my debit card much at the start til i knew how clutch it was. I wrote checks for tuition and books the first year. The past 2 years, living in an apartment, i write checks for rent, electricity, and water. Otherwise the debit card rules all. I also have never balanced a check book in my life, i just look at everything online to make sure it matches up. Online banking is clutch.
  13. First got one in late 2000, now on my second phone. Just another tidbit - most people at school don't use any sort of land line in their apartment/house or what not.
  14. Khabibulin won a stanley cup last year and is one of the best goaltenders in the game. And right now, yes, goaltending is a problem. Thibault is an average goalie, and leighton, andersson, and crawford aren't ready to start at the NHL level. Also, who knows if Thibault will even stay healthy again this year. Locking up a top-tier goaltender for the next few years would be huge. Also, the impact of a goaltender is much bigger than the impact of one forward. I realize we need both though.
  15. Well there's the other acquisition i wanted on the blue line. I wanted another veteran presence, and we got Spacek back. He's a pretty good puck handler, and he's decent in both zones. The defense is done now. The offense, however, isn't. LaPointe makes me go "meh". He was real nasty with Detroit a few years ago, bolted to Boston for a s***load of cash, then proceeded to absolutely suck. He's a "grinder", so he'll be playing on the third line with brown and barnaby i would think. Bell should play on the second line over brown, i think. We still need a top forward though, and i'd love palffy or kariya. I'm not a huge selanne fan because he's so damn soft, but he'd at least put the puck in the net on the top lines. Still need something up there badly. Can't really fault Tallon though, he's thrown the money out there. But the hawks have screwed themselves a little bit as an organization, obviously. I also don't like how long this Khabibulin decision is taking.
  16. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) god, you guys are nuts. i can't wait to go back. With you 100%, get me back to champaign.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) Hysterical more like it.. I'm inviting myself. Must be 30 years of age or younger.
  18. Probly just steff trying to be funny? She probly thinks us getting together would be a train wreck or something.
  19. Also, i'd probly move this thread to the sports forum, but that's just me.
  20. BrideportHeather, who i knew from Blackhawkzone.com, IMed me one day and told me i should check out this white sox message board. So i clicked away, started posting thereafter, and then it was love at first sight between soxnbears and myself.
  21. Addy, i'd probably be game. I'm moving in on the 19th. We can talk about this as it gets closer, though. I think i still have you sn on my buddy list, though you aren't online all the time if i remember right. Also, we can rotate having road playoff games at my place and yours* *Unless we want to watch them on the sweet plasma screens at CO's** **Most sarcastic comment i've ever made in my life.
  22. Wow...if Kap's right, which i have no reason to think otherwise...just wow.... Jason, good to see you aboard. I think you'll like this new NHL, and the hawks will be more fun to watch for all of us.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) Ahhh.. nice to know "someone" can't be trusted... :rolly :rolly Also, Steve...Keith saved us A TON of money last night by going with those seats.... :puke
  24. Going again tonight, hopefully better than last night.
