I've always meant to mention this, don't know if it's been mentioned before since i was gone a while. I don't know if any of you read Baseball Prospectus, but i'm going to type out Neal's entry from this year's book:
Cotts has two big strikes against him: First, high walk rates that show he's not ready for prime time, and second, a whipping, violent delivery that places a tremendous amount of strain on his elbow. BP's Will Carroll, who has a book coming out on pitching mechanics, is as down on Cott's delivery as any in pro ball. Those two problems might well be related, since the essence of a good delivery is that it's repeatable, and the essence of good control is being able to hit one's spots on demand. Certainly, Cotts has some things going for him-his fastball moves well, he keeps the ball down, and changes speeds effectively-but he's in a higher risk bracket than those kids from Jackass.
