  1. I had both last year, and preferred ESPN. This year i think MVP is better. All-Star difficulty i pretty hard, soxnbears, i don't win often on that level either. My problem is plate discipline...i end up swinging at a lot of pitches instead of waiting for something over the middle of the plate Also, the computer defense in MVP is just ridiculous, they make 2-3 diving catches on me per game, it's quite frustrating. I wish MVP had a 50-60 game season, though managing is cool, i'd like to have complete control on how my team ends up in the standings. Playing 50-60 games leaves your fate more in the hands of simulations. Right now i'm in a first year with a fantasy drafted team. I pitch with my #1, Vazquez, every game he's up, and then i also play some of the bigger series against the best teams and/or division opponents. I think playing anything more wouldn't allow me to have much fun with a dynasty.
  2. Ya, i've seen this before, it's hilarious
  3. Dove? He got his head slammed into the glass from behind. That will be called every single time. You can't put your hands to a guy's head
  4. There were plenty BS penalties called on TB in game 3, similar to the clarke penalty The 5 minute major was warranted.
  5. You could probly get Ohka out of Montreal as well
  6. They could have handled them better, but even if Rauch was handled perfectly it doesn't apper he would have been the solution. With that i'm off to bed so i can be productive tomorrow before the game. Damn west coast and your time difference...
  7. Well i just say it's an early date because i don't know how many major league GMs will move their big guys in early June, when by nature you can usually get more near the deadline. Also by that time there is a pretty clear line between contenders and pretenders. If you look at the NL i think going into today there were only 3 teams outside of the 20-24 loss range. Then again, money is a big factor in these things obviously, and you make an excellent point by bring up Reed. To get a deal done this early, i think you'd have to 'wow' another GM so they don't wait around until deadline time. Reed, and the fact that 'no one is untouchable,' could result in that. It will be interesting to see what happens, especially after the next 1-2 5th starter starts.
  8. I'm glad KW is being aggressive this early and addressing issues before they linger on and cost us more ball games. I agree with what you said...it's the reason to love KW but also a reason that worries you. We just have to hope the 'right' move is made, and not so much a 'rushed' move. I think he'll get this one right
  9. Wow, that's a pretty early date, especially if a "big name guy" is going to be acquired.
  10. Jason we have two threads going on this article...
  11. But will they be patient and ease them in jason? Recent history says no, that's what worries me. I agree we have guys that could eventually fill out a 5 spot, but will it be this year? That's the main concern right now. I just hope one can hold down the fort halfway decent until KW makes a move.
  12. Baserunning is one of, if not the, most coachable aspect of baseball, in my opinion. You can be a good baserunner without coaching, some guys just know how to go about it. But others can become good baserunners over time - or at least just an average baserunner that doesn't hurt your team. Someone really needs to work with him extensively on taking leadoffs, running the bases, reading the pitcher's movements, knowing the situations, etc, just as you would do with a little league team. While very frustrating, yes, it's something that can be worked on and fixed easier than many other problems on a baseball field (for example, jose's k problem). Surely you aren't going to give up on one of your better bats.
  13. I watch a stanley cup game and go out for a bit and come home to this news. Wow. We're gonna struggle with the 5 spot until KW is able to acquire a front-line starter i think, which might not be for a while, closer to the deadline. I don't know what to do from here, there's just no obvious answer. What Rauch did was obviously wrong, i agree with everything Jason has said. But KW didn't handle it right, i thought about the moneyball rule as well. This lowers the value of a minor league player of the year a lot.
  14. I was in 538 row 4, was standing quite often. Upper tank doesn't get into as much as the lower bowl, i guess that's a bit expected though. Damn was it cold though up there. I was shivering from the cold and shaking from nervousness, i had to look funny as hell the last few innings. Crowd was pretty good towards the end, didn't help Garland out as much as they should i don't think. Nice game though, let's get at em again tomorrow.
  15. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1811566 Just a weird story all around. I like how he went from a terrible Pirates team to a contending Angels team with this
  16. Not according to the commercial he's in that airs during games.
  17. Alright, good deal, i read that as or as i was reading it fast I'd take a nice 6-7 game win streak at this point, i don't even need 12.

  19. I wouldn't mind a nice margin going into July, and i feel this team can get hot as well...but a 15 game winning streak?
  20. I heard Boers talking about this on the Score, but wasn't sure if they were joking or not. That's pretty unique stuff though. Shows just how big of a team/organization guy he is. Wants everyone to enjoy this and feel part of it.
  21. A beer-influenced Steff asking me if Rocky Biddle was warming up in the bullpen last year "Uh, Steff, Rocky is in Montreal"
  22. Fluke (steroids) = Brady Anderson
  23. I'm not as concerned about his velocity as i am his control problems. But the last few outings he hasn't walked anyone, which is a good sign. As long as his fastball isn't straight as an arrow, he can get guys out whether it's at 94 or 98 mph. But extra velocity doesn't hurt obviously.
  24. Baseball tonight with Kruk and Reynolds on at the same time is almost unbearable to watch.
