  1. QUOTE (Tex @ May 8, 2013 -> 07:52 PM) The passenger was sober. She could have driven. How in the hell did the passenger get in the car and let that person drive?
  2. QUOTE (farmteam @ May 8, 2013 -> 09:26 PM) What'd they say? Just that, or did they give examples? Just curious what was said. I remember a year or two ago, there were a bunch of questions on the forums asking what the hell was in that water bottle. Apparently it's some herbal uber energy drink or something. It looks disgusting. Boers was asking why the f*** he's so weird, what's wrong with that guy, etc. I don't think you need examples, we've all seen it. Yes, it's some sort of supplement pill or something that the managers mix into his water before the game.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 8, 2013 -> 06:17 PM) Well, he does drink his own piss during games..... And his piss is brown.
  4. I've seen nothing official, though it seems everything but. Thomas, Groce, Beckman on 670 (still going).
  5. After hearing Groce...I will be shocked if Henry doesn't transfer.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2013 -> 02:01 PM) Idiots buy ticket too. As for the line about attendance, it is important. It is like a business saying that profits don't matter. Winning something significant = attendance. Do something to get there, not base all decisions off attendance from a last place team.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2013 -> 01:51 PM) It will be called a White Flag trade, and that is how the fans in this town will portray it. It doesn't matter where we are in the standings. Label it how you like, but if trading Edwin Jackson (ending his deal) and Mark Teahen (who sucked) can be labeled as White Flag, trading Jake Peavy (who is still one of the better pitchers in the AL, and has at least 1 more year on his deal, potentially 2) is a way bigger deal to the franchise. And yes, the White Sox do have to take into account how their fan base will react to trades. If they run their fan base off like they did after White Flag, it will be a really long time until fans come back again. To a company running a business, having a customer is pretty important. No. At some point it's not, to me it's when it's a last place team. You know what it's called? Trying to improve your team. If idiots want to say it's giving up, who cares. What does this effect? It's not like they would have been jumping at the chance to attend a September game for a last place team. Do something that improves your team to make them competitive to win championships. That's the only thing that matters. Rest takes care of itself. Because watching this s***fest year after year, even if they have "star" players, won't keep customers loyal either. Everyone is far too worried about attendance.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) It doesn't matter. This is the White Sox fan base we are talking about here. This is a team that couldn't get fans to go with being in first place for 126 days last year, and has every excuse in the book not to go anyway. This is also a town that was calling the Edwin Jackson trade of two years ago a white flag deal. Edwin Jackson had no where near the standing and representation as Jake Peavy does. A better question would be what proof is there that attendance wouldn't collapse? What proof is there that Sox fans would stand behind an obvious rebuild, because I sure don't see it. If the team's in last place, attendance will suck anyway. But again, calling this a White Flag trade is just wrong. During the actual White Flag trade, fans saw 3GB and said wait a minute, they have a chance. Last place? That's not the same thing. No one's saying OMG they gave up on the season. You know what draws attendance? Playoffs and championships. Do whatever you think gets you there. Treading water sucks. You can't handcuff your front office because "wait, the attendance might go from 15K to 12K in August/September" if we trade a few guys.
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 8, 2013 -> 01:31 PM) You want no part of Notre Dame in December. December-January are ND's best months. Of course they always suck in March but they're absolutely awesome in December. Mike Brey is Mr. December. I don't even care from a winning standpoint, more from an interest standpoint. Plus, with Groce I'm not exactly afraid of being outcoached by Brey. Maybe outmanned.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2013 -> 01:24 PM) If it doesn't set you up for next year, it will hurt. If the team could score runs, they would have a decent record right now. The Sox could use some hitters. Floyd, Konerko are off the books next year. $25 million more for the national TV contract. If payroll remains the same, that's $47 million freed to get some bats just next season. Why, unless it's a no brainer overpay for Peavy would you trade him? Lose the next 3 months and then re-tool. I don't understand anyone wanting the Sox to dump their best players. They have difficulty developing players. It's a fact. Unless you are a fan of "sustained losing" as some here without question would really enjoy , that is not the way to go. Do you think we're signing Peavy after 2014? I don't see us doing much in 2014 no matter what approach we take, so I'm fine moving him. If you can get something of value, that would sure help more to the long-term success. Plus, if we have trouble developing players, we should just give up on that whole route? At some point that needs to be fixed or you'll never win much of anything.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2013 -> 10:12 AM) The Oakland A's have tarped over huge sections of their upper deck with retired player numbers/pictures. Isn't that because it's a football stadium, and the capacity with those added in would be ridiculous? I think they may open them for playoff games?
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2013 -> 01:04 PM) Looks like Transfer U 2.0 is playing at my Yellow Jackets in the ACC/Big10 challenge. GT should be pretty solid next year. Haha, nice. Indiana gets to play against the zone next year at Cuse.
  13. I'm guessing part of this stems from me playing so much baseball as a kid, and just recently picking up golf last few years, casually. Rock now I think I understand the concept, at least somewhat...one of these days I'll hit the range instead of the course and hit 500 ball until it's not as bad. I bet if I saw it on video I'd be like "holy f***, that looks awful" Steve, I actually come out by you to play with snb sometimes, so this wouldn't be too hard to arrange. Plus, we both like beer.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2013 -> 01:15 PM) Dumping your best players for prospects usually doesn't sell, unless said prospects make a very quick impact. If the Sox traded Peavy for the Tyler Flowers and Brent Lillibridges of the world, that wouldn't go over very well. 10+ games out and a last place team with your best players doesn't sell, either. Thinking a trade of Peavy will kill the fan base/remaining attendance is laughable. That's not a White Flag trade.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) If you really believe that, you don't remember your White Sox history, at all. If the team is 10+ out, is that really a White Flag trade? Comparing the two is ridiculous.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 8, 2013 -> 12:01 PM) I used to have that slice. I then got the greatest golf tip of all-time which helped me fix it. 300 yard drives happen a lot for me now. It's hard to explain, but I'll try. Assuming you are a righty, when holding your club raise your left shoulder. A lot. You should raise your left shoulder until when you naturally release your right hand it falls straight back away from your target. Try it out. Do your normal stance and release your right hand and I bet anything it comes back towards you. Let it naturally fall, don't force it. That s*** might even hit your leg. Guess what, that means your s***'s f***ed. So raise your lead shoulder until that hand falls straight back away from the f***ing target. It'll be uncomfortable at first, but once you get your swing down with that s***, you'll be asking me my address so you can properly thank me. I remember you talking about this before, but I couldn't figure it out. I will try exactly as you say next time I'm out there, or at least grab a club here and try to figure it out. You're right, it is hard to explain/figure out. It just feels awkward and like "wtf am I doing." So it's just raising the shoulder? I'm not shifting at the hips or anything? And then keep said shoulder high throughout the swing?
  17. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 8, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) I have the worst slice, drivers only though. Want to play together?
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 8, 2013 -> 11:47 AM) Tee shot your main issue? Is it always a slice? Yeah, nothing slices except my drive. And I'm talking severe, and every single time. I line up so far left and then immediately it slices and starts back and I can usually find the fairway. In addition to looking ridiculous, I know I'm losing a ton of distance. Eventually I will try to get a lesson or two to see if there's something easy to fix.
  19. Anyone play Front Page Sports: Baseball Pro '96 Season back in the day on PC? I'd spend hours upon hours doing the drafts and building teams, simulating, etc. It would take forever to simulate stuff, get to the next round, etc, s*** that would happen in minutes now. It was so addicting to draft your own teams. Didn't play many of the actual games.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 8, 2013 -> 11:44 AM) Ha! I haven't been able to get out this year. The two days planned wound up having absolutely awful weather, and I've had a lot of family s*** and work s*** taking up my time. That said, when I was hitting it a lot last year I was nailing birdies and pars and they are absolutely majestic. It was a par 3, but even still, I don't get pars much at all. I'm usually getting 6's and 7's on holes, which while not great, isn't terrible IMO. If I could not 3 putt almost everything, I'd be in better shape. I have zero clue how to judge hitting long putts, just to try for a 2 putt. Well that and me aiming at more than a 45 degree angle to the left off the tee so my crazy slice finds the fairway.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 8, 2013 -> 10:52 AM) Ugh, he said he was awful at the dot I believe. He's been a good player this series. Uh, did you watch game 3? QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 8, 2013 -> 10:58 AM) Also in case anyone missed it, the refs knocked out the Canucks again last night. Pretty sure AV is about gone, and it looks like once again there are goalies for sale in Vancouver. Yes that was a bad call. But they were toast down 3-0 and it probably just sped up the inevitable.
  22. Had a par the other day. Felt like I won the Masters.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 8, 2013 -> 10:22 AM) One fluttering, s***ty wrist shot thrown at the net and bouncing off of Sharp does not all the sudden make Handzus anything better than completely awful as I've been saying since they pointlessly acquired him. I wish it was pointless, instead they sneakily acquired him to be the 2nd line center when he should be nothing more than a 4th liner/healthy scratch. Yes, that filled the hole we had there, well done.
