whitesox61382 you need to relax. You accuse me and CW of being blind because of our love for our team, but christ your love for Purdue has turned a simple prediction about the game into an attack against me. No doubt Purdue is capable of beating michigan, but not this year, not with the way this team is playing right now. I was at a game at Purdue in 1996 when Purdue upset Michigan 9-3. I remember a game in 2000 when Purdue shut down michigan in the second half to win at Purdue. So I know Purdue can beat Michigan on occasion, as does CW. But you can't avoid the fact that Michigan tore Purdue a new one last time the two teams met. Just take this conversation for what it is, a prediction that Purdue would lose badly. The prediction was false Purdue only lost by 3. Next Saturday Michigan and Ohio St. will meet in the big house to determine who is the big ten champion. Purdue lost to both of those teams and is the third best team in the big ten. 31-3 :finger

Even though Piazza wants out, it would not surprise me at all if the Mets hung on to him for 3 reasons. 1) His value would be higher if he were to have a solid first half playing first base 2) There will not be a lot of interest for taking Piazza in exchange for a decent player right now 3) The mets have no reason to hurry in getting rid of him. They have a lot of offensive weapons, and have money to get pitching.

Ok here we go I said that if a team were to take Orton out of the equation like Michigan did, then Purdue is in trouble. I did not base a team on one game per se. It is stupid to say that Ohio State isn't good because they hardly beat Penn St. When I was online, the Ohio St. game had not gone to half-time yet. Temple fans also hate kickers right now I am not afraid to say that I was wrong in my prediction, but it was hardly based on one game. I gave one example of how to stop purdue, that was based on one game. Purdue's defense forced me to go with Ohio St. as much as their offense. Purdue's defense (even though it is ranked 9th or whatever you said it was), did not impress me against Michigan, Wisconsin, Bowling Green, or Iowa. As far as the whole defensive rankings goes, there was no need to say that Purdue's defense is better than michigans, I don't care how the two defenses match up statistically, the fact is Michigan f***ing dropped the hammer on Purdue. I hope so, I will be at the game Saturday, and if Michigan loses, it will be a very sad ride back to NJ. Indeed.

I know made 3.4 million in '03, but he is arbatration eligible this offseason. Anybody know if he is going to have any kind of substantial increase for the 2004 season?

At the Half Wolverines 31 Wildcats 3 Avant made a spectacular catch, Andre Ware called it the best catch of the year. That may be an exageration on Ware's part, but either way the catch was fantastic. Navarre has been dead on all game, Northwestern on the contrary has looked flat and lacadazical. Northwestern has fumbled 4 times, 1 fumble resulted in a 12 yard loss, 2 were recovered by Michigan, and the 3rd resulted in a 1 yard gain.

I can tell that you like to talk a lot of s***. First off, I am a die hard michigan fan and I watch college football religiously, so don't even accuse me of not watching football. Now that I have cleared that up let me explain my logic to you. First off, Purdue may be ranked #11, but that does not mean that they should be. Yes they have had some great wins, but when Orton is taken out of the equation they are not even a top #25 team. Ohio State has a strong defense, and will try to take Orton out of the mix as Michigan did. If they are successful, which I think they will be, then you can forget about Purdue scoring points. Now to Ohio States offense, granted it is not pretty but it can score points, and except for one game this year it has always scored enough to get by. Krenzel is the most consistent performer I have ever seen behind center at OSU, and he can really rack up the yards when he is on. That is why I am predicting OSU by 17. Purdue's lack of size will haunt them the way it did against the wolverines. By the way the fact that you think you can judge a team by one game seems to imply that you are the one who knows little about college football, not me. (USC lost to a very mediocre Cal team, obviously that means USC can not blow anyone's doors off) I could very well be wrong, but I just don't see Purdue pulling this one out.

Personally, I don't think any of the starters in our rotation our showing top of the rotation type dominance. Our relievers our more exciting to me. Ginter Munoz Diaz (I think he will end up a reliever) Yofu Meaux Are all guys that seem to have good major league potential to me.

Well, Fopperts bad elbow may have had something to do with it. Just guessing.

Upset crazy Northwestern, vs. The mighty Miiiiichigan Wolverines. The Purdue Boilermakers vs. that team from Ohio. and of course the true thriller, the Hoosiers of Bloomington vs. JoePa and the Nittney Lions of Penn St. I think Northwestern and Purdue will both get their doors blown off today.

I was at the Coaches vs. Cancer classic last night. The first game was close most of the way through, but had no flow and was sloppy. As you know Pitt pulled it out. The second game was one of the best college games I have ever attended, great rythm to the game, and Nelson is one of the most exciting players I have seen. Being a Nets fan, I have seen a lot of Jason Kidd, and Nelson reminds me a lot of Kidd. St. Joes won the game, but it seemed like Gonzaga owned the boards, so St. Joes is going to have to shoot well this season, or else they are not going to beat teams with decent size.

Koch is my number 1 choice to go. Here in NY though, word is the Mets will only take Koch if we take Roger Cedeno. Roger Cedeno makes a ton of money and is an aweful player, so if that is the deal then I say no to trading Koch. (unless another team shows interest). My next choice to go is Magglio. I wouldn't mind getting rid of Konerko, but we won't get anything in return for him, and unlike Koch, there is a very good chance Konerko could return to his old form in 2004. If we trade Magglio we might be able to get a halfway decent starting pitcher, which is what we need. Not to mention we have more outfielders ready to make the jump in our system than first basemen.

I may be wrong, but I see him more as s*** than 'the' s*** as far as major league potential goes. Plus you can't put Ginter down and then call Wylie 'the s***'. Here is a break down: 2003 Wylie (26 soon to be 27) - Double-A birmingham W L ERA IP BB K Mitchell Wylie 3 5 4.40 57.1 17 42 Ginter (25 soon to be 26) - Triple-A charlotte W L ERA IP BB K Matt Ginter 3 5 3.03 68.1 22 52 I can't remember Ginter ever getting injured either, unlike Wylie who I believe missed the 2002 season (I could be wrong on that though).

If Escobar comes to pitch for us, he will be the best pitcher (stuff-wise) in this rotation. He may start the season as a 4th or 5th starter, but I think he would move up the chain quickly. If he stays healthy and maintains the decent control he showed last season he is a 1 or 2 type guy.
-
I have followed his career ever since I got his rookie card when I was 10 or maybe a little younger, and this is the first year that I think the card may actually have some value Escobar intrigues me, he was a stud starting prospect. He had little control and was sent to the bullpen. He was not successful as a closer so he was moved back to the rotation. He showed flashes of brilliance in the rotation last year. I think he is intriguing, and if we can sign him for a reasonable price I think it would be a good pick up. Durability and control worry me with him though.

In my opinion you like the only guy on their that the jury is out on. Wylie is a AAAA long reliever. He is decent in triple-A but has no business being anything more than a punch dumby in blow out games at the major league level. Rauch, has had his share of injury problems, but when he is healthy he can contribute, and I think he can bring something to this team as a fifth starter. Ginter, has been an effective reliever at triple-A, in 2000 he was a solid starter but he has no stamina what-so-ever in that role, he has been a reliever ever since. I think he will be a solid right handed reliever for the sox within the next couple of years. Malone, is still very young, so don't say he is washed up. He has battled injuries the last two years. If he picks up a change-up you will see him starting games at the Cell in the future, if not then you will see him as a lefty reliever at the cell. The fact is the guy has talent, he just needs to stay healthy. I don't think these guys have much trade value right now, but all can contribute (except wylie) at the major league level.

If they are lucky they will pull off a few upsets and reach the final four of the big east tournament.

I can't stand the guy. I bet he was waiting all year for the oppurtunity to arise when he could yell at a bunch of reporters shirtless "I'm a f***in solja", and he thought he would sound tough. Really he looked like an ass. Then the SportsCenter commentator said something like "Just to remind you, the real soldiers are in Iraq wishing they could be back home playing football, Kellen Winslow is just a 20 year old college student" Then winslow looked even more like the ass that he is

If I am a native American, I am offended by the only 2 things in sports. Chief Waahoo of the Cleveland Indians. And the washington Redskins. Redskins is a ridiculous name, it would be like if a team was named the negros or the darkies. The uproar for a football team named the Washington Darkies featuring a black man on the logo would cause riots. So why should they be allowed to keep the term 'Redskins'.

I bet he won't be bringing up drug addictions on his show anymore

I know I am chiming in late, but I had to get my opinion out there on this. I disagree with two of my favirote posters. First of all I disagree with CW, because I think all abortions are wrong. CW brings up the point that the pro-life people abandon mothers after convincing them to have the baby. My church, and many other catholic churches, have donations to supply mothers that decide against abortion with money, baby stuff (strollers, car seats, cribs, etc...). So I disagree that mothers are abandoned. I also disagree with Sideshowapu, but I am kind of undecided on the issue of sex education. On one hand, I don't think sex should lose its meaning, though I don't believe in abstinence, I did not have sex in any of my previous relationships, and don't plan on having sex until I meet the right girl. I hope there is never a day when young teenagers under 16 are having casual sex. It is bad enough that kids in my grade (11th grade) are having casual sex, I can't imagine anyone younger having casual sex. On the other hand, having gone through the public school system's sex ed. classes I can say they are outdated. Abstinence is being preached to 16 year olds, when by this age, abstinence is clearly either a belief that you have or you don't have. It is impossible to get a 16 year old to buy into abstinence ijf they don't believe in it, it is a decision that people have probably already made. So safe sex practices should be taught at this age. But I think for younger kids it is important that abstinence and risk factors should be taught. I know when I was in 5th grade we watched a movie that was outdated and had a bunch of kids on a basketball team talking about AIDS and Sex. "Guys, sex can give us AIDS!", I think this philosophy is outdated, rather than scaring or threatening kids, they should just make kids aware of how important sex is, and what ramifications could be (a child, hurt feelings, the risk of STD's). Then when they are in high school they should be taught about safe sex.

My grandfather is smiling somewhere in heaven. Everyday he would get out his old radio and listen to Rush. The only things that would have stopped my grandpa from listening to rush would be if Rush turned liberal, or if Rush started murdering infants. An addiction is nothing, lots of people get addicted. Congratulations Rush, on recovering from your problem, and best of luck.

Even if it is only 10 mins, it will be the best 10 minutes in News Television histroy. Shepard Smith also mentioned that O'Reilly would be showing the tape, Fox is definately playing this up to be a big night.
