  1. I have forgiven him, I forgave him the day Albert Belle put on a Sox uniform. I hate when baseball turns political, but when he forked over the money to Belle, it proved to me that he wanted to win. I hate the cubs, but I have to say, the sox sucked in the 80's (after 83 that is), and the cubs had two magical seasons, and yet the sox survived. The compete with the cubs mindset is illogical when we have a division within our grasps.
  2. The Soviets were a bunch of bastards. You think this stuff would have some security. It's like when there was a controversy about whether or not some briefcase nukes had been lost...how the f*** do you let a nuclear weapon get lost?? stupid russians.
  3. The New York Times wrote that Guerrero will never sign with the Yankees.
  4. Last I heard tigers and O's were the front runners
  5. No doubt. Sox fans never come when the team sucks. We appreciate good baseball, and loathe poor baseball. I am simply stating that we shouldn't be out trying to assasinate JR, when he is trying to strengthen this franchise. (An ace would be a lot more useful than a new ud though).
  6. Before anyone gets on my ass about Benitez and Nelson having great careers, I will clarify that in the above post I was referring to last season. Last season, both Benitez and Nelson looked terrible.
  7. Nelson and Benitez tend to hurt more than they help. Mets fans still b**** and moan about Benitez.
  8. Never have I experienced such a gloomy offseason. Granted, last offseason we got Bartolo, the year before we got Ritchie, before that Wells. Perhaps we were spoiled and forgot that being a sox fan includes bitter disappointment. All I am reading is f*** kenny, f*** jr. Well, my opinion is shut the f*** up. JR is not a great owner. He doesn't throw himself into this franchise, and he often appears selfish. But look at what he HAS done. Fans complained about the state of the stadium, look at all the renovations. A new manager was needed, he brought it one with some energy to spark this franchise. Granted, what we want to see is a winning club. White Sox fans only show when the team wins (unlike the drunkards at wrigley), so it would be wise if JR spent the money. But why don't we just wait and see what happens before people start picking new teams. This has been my opinion.

    Bad News

Everyday eddie, slightly overrated, and will probably get overpaid. I like him as a bullpen work horse, I don't think he is a great closer.

A flame throwing, 15 game winning, workhorse...I think he would be nice to have back.

My Brother graduated from IU last year. He loved every minute of it, including the parties. I was there a few times, great campus, great atmosphere.

  14. There might be a tie for #1 this year. If USC beats Michigan (which they wont ) there will be another tie this year, because the writers poll does not have to agree with the BCS game. Therefore unless the Writers change their minds or if USC loses USC will remain atop of that poll and we will once again have a tie.
  15. It appears that Davie was a better recruiter than Willingham has been. This year there recruiting class is autrotious. And one of the best recruits of last years class, (olsen) is transferring.
  16. Irabu went back to Japan last year, and last I heard he was pitching well over there. What a bust he was here though Masato Yoshii failed here too. The only Japanese hitter to fail in america that I can think of is Shinjo.
  17. A mediocre 1-AA team losing to a terrible 1-A team is not pathetic, it is expected.
  18. I disagree. If you are saying that Oklahoma deserves to be there because Kansas St. is better than Florida and better than Cal you are wrong. If you don't win your conference, you don't belong in the national championship game. Plain and simple.
  19. Nice research, but I don't see a playoff of more than 4 teams ever being implemented at the Div-1A level. If a playoff was put in place, I would guess three games, with the 4 major bowls rotating in and out. In my opinion, the old way of using the two major polls was the best. In 1997, Michigan and Nebraska split. To this day, I have never heard a Michigan fan complain, and the only two nebraska fans I know had no complaints about the joint national championship. The old system puts more emphasis on winning the conference, which I believe, is how it should be. It also would make bowl games more interesting. Lets say the BCS did not exist, then the 3 teams playing for the championship would be playing in 3 different games, making 3 games very important, and therefore popular draws. Granted it is possible that all 3 teams would win leaving the whole thing up a vote among coaches and the press, but the coaches and press's votes will likely mirror the popular vote. So most people would end up happy. The bowls would get to keep their alliances too, which adds to tradition. I think the college game should stay away from chasing money, leave that to the pros. College football is all about tradition to me, and great rivalries, like a Big-10/Pac-10 Rose Bowl (which hasn't happened in 3 years now). Another adjustment I would like to see in college football is a merger of the WAC and MC (I know the MC broke off from the wac), and a merger of Conference-USA and the MAC. Then those two large conferences would be each broken down in two to divisions (like the Big 12, SEC, and MAC) and the winners of each division would play for the conference title, then the winners of those two conferences would play eachother in a bowl game played on New Years. That way the better teams in those conferences (Hawaii, Boise St., Bowling Green) could get some real national attention. So no to the BCS, and No to a playoff.
  20. I doubt it. Japanese players are good fundamental players. Most american guys that turn out to be busts are strikeout guys that swing for the fences, and can't hit the breaking stuff at the major league level. Japanese players that come to America are not like this. They seem to be entirely line drive hitters. People said Hideki Matsui would be a bust, especially after his poor performance against U.S. pitchers when the Japanese played the US all-stars. One year later, Matsui has shown that he is a solid line drive hitter and was one of the most consistent yankees during the regular season. Japanese pitchers are a different issue. Saturo Komiyama was supposed to be the "Japanese Greg Maddux". He couldn't get anybody out for the Mets and was sent to the minors after about 2 months. He has never resurfaced.
  21. I read that and felt better about the guy after reading it than I did before. I never knew he was faster than ichiro.
  22. I would much rather see USC play Oklahoma. No doubt LSU is a good team, but I think USC is much more explosive offensively, and is just as good as LSU defensively. USC is just a more exciting team to watch, so I hope LSU falls to Georgia tonight.
  23. No tradition or Pride this year. With a chance to play in a worthless bowl on the line Notre Dame lays an egg Syracuse put up 38 against the Irish. The very same Syracuse team could not beat Rutgers.
  24. If we get Perez i am happy
