What was the whining about? Did Beastly leave under his own terms, or was he given the boot.

I haven't been here friday, but it looks like there was some sort of a shakeup. If it wouldn't be a problem, could someone give me a brief summary of the events that took place, and their ramifications?

I am going back to chicago for christmas. Anyone else going back to their place of origin?

Yeah, Milkshake sucks. The sad thing is, listeners of the local hit music station ranked it number 1, so the whole NY metropolitan area has the pleasure of listening to Milkshake every 10 minutes. Rap is solid music that takes talent. It is not something everyone can do with skill, I watch those rap contests on 106th and Park on BET, and usually the contestants suck. But some people are capable of turning a bunch of rhymes into a solid hit.

Armas has deeply rooted problems that go beyond his injury. He throws way too many pitches to ever stay healthy. He is a 5 inning pitcher. I wouldn't mind if the sox took a chance on him, because he will probably be fairly cheap, but it wouldn't be a huge move because chances are that Armas will never be a real solid pitcher. Jason Johnson was pretty solid last year, especially in the first half. I guess one could conclude that the reason he had a bumpy second half is that he doesn't get in too many full seasons like the one he had last year. If fatigue was the case, then chances are this year he would be able to stay strong longer. Moss just needs to throw strikes!

Holy s***! That is my favirote episode. Damn I love it when the white people are living in shacks and they come up with the remedy for sars and it is sprite and soup. Then stans dad explains how white middle class people are "a simple people, with deeply rooted culture" or something like that. Of course the best part is when they win and decide to gamble again and they lose it all

Kyle, I would just like to let you know, that if this was anyother time of the year, I still wouldn't help you. I also saw the 9:30 episode (a repeat, but still funny), and my favirote part was when Phonix monkey kills kenny. "Oh my God! Phonix Monkey Killed Kenny!"(short pause)"Your damn straight he did".

As always, baseball politics conflicted with what is best for the game, and because of it a deal that Gammons was calling the deal of the century is looking less and less likely. What about the fans in Boston who were going to gain the games most prolific hitter, and gain an all-star right fielder? In an offseason full of Red Sox-Yankees hatred, a move that would have sent shockwaves through the bronx has been halted. What fan wouldn't like to see Alex Rodriguez and Magglio Ordonez battling Gary Scheffield and Jason Giambi in the AL East? Of course lets not forget about ourselves. In a day that looked very promising for the White Sox Nation, baseball politics have prevented us from making enormous strides within the AL Central. For what purpose are fans across the country, going to go to sleep disappointed? Obviously the players union always looks for the players to get the maximum amount of money, but in an era where contracts are declining, why does it matter that A-Rod's figure dips a little bit? No contract will ever compete with A-Rods anytime soon, so what is the players union trying to uphold? Today summarized the last 10 years of baseball. When there is something to really get excited about, the politics of baseball always seem to infringe upon the fans enjoyment of the sport.

From washingtonpost.com: Court Grants Hinckley Unsupervised Visits Reagan's Assailant Must Still Be Accompanied by Parents By Carol Leonnig Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, December 17, 2003; 3:48 PM Presidential assailant John W. Hinckley Jr. was given a court's permission today to leave St. Elizabeths Hospital for a series of unchaperoned visits with his parents, marking the first time he would be released from the facility without the staff's supervision. U.S. District Judge Paul L. Friedman set numerous conditions on the outings. Among other things, Hinckley is not permitted to leave his parents, John and Jo Ann, at any time while he is away from the hospital, and the first outings must be in the Washington area. Those visits could take place in two weeks unless prosecutors seek to delay them through an appeal. Friedman's ruling came after a hearing last month in which psychiatrists testified that Hinckley's condition has dramatically improved since March 1981, when he shot President Reagan and three others outside the Washington Hilton Hotel. Hinckley has been confined to St. Elizabeths since 1982, when a jury found him not guilty by reason of insanity. Prosecutors fought Hinckley's bid to leave the hospital without an escort, saying they believe he remains a danger. But Hinckley's attorney and doctors said that he has successfully ventured outside the hospital in recent years on supervised trips to bowling alleys, shopping centers, restaurants, parks and other places, and that they anticipated no problems. The judge is requiring advance notice of any outings, including a full itinerary. The Secret Service, which continues to monitor Hinckley, would be informed of any trips and would be free to keep track of him. Hinckley's parents, who live in the Williamsburg area, have asked that he be allowed to eventually go on overnight outings to their home. Friedman's ruling sets the first steps in such a process, in which the hospital will continually chart Hinckley's progress. Attorneys for Hinckley had argued at the hearing that the government has no evidence that the presidential assailant would pose a risk to the public if he took short unsupervised trips outside the confines of his psychiatric hospital and said prosecutors were raising a "specter of possible horrors." Top officials at St. Elizabeths Hospital testified that they see no chance of Hinckley hurting anyone on such trips to see his parents. Those views echoed other psychiatrists who examined Hinckley and deemed him ready to leave the Southeast Washington psychiatric facility for a series of unsupervised family visits. But government prosecutors insisted that the mental instability that spurred Hinckley to try to assassinate Reagan could reappear. They also questioned whether psychiatric experts, who unanimously told the court that Hinckley's psychotic delusions have been in remission for more than a decade, are too partial to the longtime St. Elizabeths Hospital patient. In addition, prosecutors said they doubted whether Hinckley's aging parents are physically capable of controlling their son if he became violent. Reagan's family expressed concern about the prospect of Hinckley venturing out unsupervised, and Sarah Brady, whose husband, press secretary James Brady, also was shot, recently wrote to the judge opposing Hinckley's request. On March 30, 1981, as Reagan left the Washington Hilton after a speech, Hinckley opened fire, wounding the president, Brady and two law enforcement officers. Unsupervised visits would be another step in a series of liberties Hinckley has won, part of a continuum that he hopes could ultimately lead to his release. In 1999, Hinckley won a lengthy legal battle and got a court order allowing him to take supervised trips away from the hospital. He has since made hundreds of trips to bowling alleys, bookstores, restaurants and even the National Theatre without incident. Hinckley's legal team had hoped that they might have a decision earlier so he could be with his family for Thanksgiving. In early December, Barry Wm. Levine asked the judge for a decision in time for Hinckley to spend Christmas with his parents. "I make no promises," Friedman said at the time. __________________________________ Here is what troubles me: the symptoms of his illness may reappear, yet because he went to bowling alleys and bookstores without incedent he is allowed to get leave without state supervision, and may be set free soon? Until there is a cure for their disorders, keep mental patients behind bars. Even David Berkowitz said at his parole that it is not safe to let him out because his mental problems could reappear. Too bad not everyone with a violent mental disorder can take responsibility like that.

If he doesn't have anyother pitches that he can get outs with than I say we pass on him. I haven't heard much about the other pitches he has witch worries me. Contreras is a stuff guy who also throws pretty hard (not even close to 100), Rodriguez seems to be a hardthrower, but his other stuff is a mystery as far as I have read. I also never like to hear about pitchers with a history of injuries.
-
He is a fireballer, and reaches the 100-105, but has a history of injuries, and is inconsistent.
-
The mets have some sort of odd obsession with aging players, and players coming off of injuries. It is impossible to rebuild in NY, there is just too much pressure to bring in proven players, even if they are 4 years off of their prime.
-
One more thing on Royce, I heard he was throwing 90's when we drafted him, last I heard he was throwing mid to high 80's. If he has arm problems, then it looks like that was a good trade we made.
-
I agree that is not the best looking top of the order, Uribe would be a HORRIBLE choice for leading off. The guy had a .290 OBP, that is horrible. As for trading Koch to the mets for Ring, don't put your marbles on it. New York fans are high on this guy, and the Mets are taking pride in developing a young bullpen. Some are predicting Ring to be closing or setting up for Grant Roberts as soon as next season.

Actually he was on the Mets last year

Don't jump on somebody when what they say makes sense. You and the caller are off base. 1) While she may have been wrong to generalize, a lot of people including myself think it is stupid to show up an opponent by pulling out a cell phone. No matter his color. How would Horn have felt if Will Allen put a big hit on horn and then made a phone call? 2) She never said "I don't like it when black people celebrate in the endzone". Here in NY, fans get all over Jeremy Shockey for celebrating too much after every play. Many callers say he should be fined for being a hot head. Jeremy Shockey is White by the way, so there goes the judgement based on race. 3) Mark Buehrle and Jon Garland are both under 25, Wright was coming off some arm problems in the spring. They don't have the saavy to go 8 or 9 every game. Colon on the other hand is a horse who went the distance a lot last year. So when a pitcher making a large sum of money to swallow innings only lasts 6, it is disappointing. As for Loiaza, it was frustrating to see a guy be dominating yet throw 100 pitches in 5 or 6 innings at the same time. 4) Anybody that gets on Grafanino's ass for not being clutch needs to know that Grafanino is a utility infielder, not a crucial part of our offense. As for Konerko, I doubt that she went easy on the guy, I think you maybe generalizing. (granted, I live in NJ and have never heard our show, I know that even prejudiced people won't go easy on someone because they are white). 5) Look at what skiles walked into, and look at the amount of time he has been there. The change is going to occur overnight. I am not trying to put down you belief here or anything, afterall everyone is titled to an opinion. I just find that you can't accuse someone or a society of being completely racist without looking at the whole picture.

Top 50 In my mind Tupac is a sure fire #1 choice. The closest thing to a modern day Martin Luther King Jr. Tupac has only become bigger since he was murdered. Tupac helped bring the new sound of west coast rap into the suburban household. Run DMC may have been one of the originals, but in terms of accomplishment the nod goes to Pac IMO. One of the most troubling things about these rankings is that 2 Live Crew did not make it, despite being very popular, and winning one of the bigger court cases in music industry history. Banned in the USA alone should get them onto this list. Another shocker is that the Beastie Boys beat out NWA.

I have a feeling that the Dixiecrats would have been a little perturbed if they had known that back in 1948. Well, things aren't always what they seem. A prejudiced southern politician who ran on the platform of segregation, has a mixed race daughter...go figure.

I haven't seen any of the movies or read any of the books. I even own Part II, and I still haven't seen it

I run alot of screen passes and button hooks, and then I mix it up with the occasional bomb. I find it to be the most effective, unless the opposing team is running the 3-4. I can't run screen plays when linebackers are swarming everywhere.

Wow, Edwin Jackson really excites me, so to get him with Perez and Mota would be awesome

I lead every single offensive category except rushing yards with 5 min. quarters, its all about maintaining possesion.

I disagree, I think that the PNAC has some good behind it (I think it is good to have a strong standing army). Overall though I say the project is somewhat worthless. We already play a "big-brother" role in global affairs. Why do we need to set up the PNAC to "strive to rally support for a vigorous and principled policy of American international involvement"? The war in Iraq shows that will do what we want no matter how much domestic and international opposition exists. Whether you agree or disagree with the role america plays, it does render the PNAC somewhat useless. The only thing that scares me about the PNAC is the use of propoganda to stimulate support for national defense. It seems more like a communist strategy, than the strategy of the worlds largest democratic power. The FRC is a different story. If we are talking about the same FRC (family research Council), that I think is one of the better programs existing. It focuses more on social america rather than 'new world manifest destiny'. Many of the social problems in this country can be solved by strong close knit family morals. I know sox4life has previously brought up the single mother syndrome, but my best friend and his siblings have been raised only by his mother, who is the busiest woman I know. Anyway, all those kids stay out of trouble because their mom keeps a strong hold over the house and keeps family traditions. I think family is the most crucial element of any society, and if the FRC is capable of stopping the deterioration of family in America than I don't see why anyone would be in fear of it. I hope we are talking about the same FRC, otherwise I feel like a dumbass
