I hope this is a photo of the right guy. The guy's name was Ernesto 'Che' Guevara. The following is a real quick bio. He was a doctor that got involved in revolutionary ideology and assisted Fidel in his revolution in Cuba. After leaving there, Guevara looked to install peoples' governments throughout Central and South America using guerrilla tactics to gain the peoples' support especially since so many Central and South American governments during the time were having their land centralized in ownership by a few power elite instead of the majority of the population. Guevara started his liberation movement in Bolivia, but unfortunately due to peasant reforms by the MNR there in the 1950s, the populus was not so inclined to assist him. Guevara wrote the book "Guerrilla Warfare" and there is also a book of his diary in Bolivia writing about how he wanted to assist the people against the corruption of capitalism that has destroyed the peasants because they were not allowed a voice in many of the Central and South American governments. [Not allowed the vote, not able to own land, working in poor labor conditions, etc. etc.] His revolution movement failed in Bolivia but he had a large following that something needed to be done against the ruling oligarchies of power elite and military dictatorships in South America. A CIA assisted Bolivian military squad finally captured Guevara and although told by the US not to kill him, the Bolivians killed him anyway. [Declassified documents I scrounged up writing a paper on Guevara...the professor I had is an expert in Andean history, especially Bolivia...said that the CIA feared killing Guevara because it would have a martyr effect] And after they cleaned up the body, they showed the world...and a lot of photo-journalists have equivicated this photo to the martyred Christ after the Crucifixion. [That was in a bunch of the books I barrowed from my professor about the topic of Che and Bolivia since I had to write a paper on why his liberation movement in Bolivia failed.] Che is still popular in many areas because he attempted to give a voice to the people and fought the power elite that harmed the people. He pioneered the idea of armed liberation after all other means have been exhausted to get rid of the evil. Although he used only the facts of what worked in Cuba as a means to plan his future endeavors...and what worked in Cuba didn't work in Bolivia. And he's on t-shirts and avatars etc. mainly because he is a pop culture icon but also he is an icon of revolution and liberation movements. I think I am going to buy a Che shirt with a photo of him followed by "Not bad...for a f***ing pinko commie" Some of his quotes: "Why does the guerrilla fighter fight? We must come to the inevitable conclusion that the guerrilla fighter is a social reformer, that he takes up arms responding to the angry protest of the people against their oppressors, and that he fights in order to change the social system that keeps all his unarmed brothers in ignominy and misery." "There are no boundaries in this struggle to the death. We cannot be indifferent to what happens anywhere in the world, for a victory by any country over imperialism is our victory; just as any country's defeat is a defeat for all of us." "If you tremble indignation at every injustice then you are a comrade of mine." "At the risk of seeming ridiculous, let me say that the true revolutionary is guided by a great feeling of love. It is impossible to think of a genuine revolutionary lacking this quality." thanks for the summary. I still don't like that he helped Castro into power. But south/central america has always been known for its corruption, so I respect him for fighting for the people. As for pinko commie, was he gay? Anyway, his life is nothing to be proud of, afterall the only thing he accomplished was bringing an evil man to power.

a hot girl was sitting next to me when I did it...she laughed hysterically. She said it was the funniest moment of her life. If i could do it over again, I still would have farted
-
why do people like this guy? After reading his bio, I have learned he was a killer, and brought a terrible oppressor into power.
-
OLDROMAN!!!! Wow, I am not the only one! You are my long lost brother. Together we braved new territory by farting in class. We have given many stories to tell there kids. You farted in APEuro, I cut the cheese in chemistry. Damn, it is good to know i am not alone

I remember back in the day (last winter I believe), you had an avatar that featured some guy with a beret, and long messy hair and a mustache and he was looking up. Any way, I saw the same picture on two different people's t-shirts today in NY. Who is this guy? and why is he on people's avatars and t-shirts?

I RIPPED ASS WHILE TAKING NOTES IN CLASS! the room was silent and i shifted in my chair, and one slipped. My reaction was "Oh Jesus". So for the next few days people in that class would come up to me and say "oh jesus"...over time it became less embarrassing and more funny. One girl told me it was the funniest moment of her life. The teacher hated it because she couldn't control the laughter in the room. As you can imagine i was very red.

Btw, does anybody know if this game is going to have a "classic broadcaster"? I know the 7pm game has Ernie Harwell, and the nightcap will feature Al Michaels, do you know who is doing the color for the sox game?

We gotta win. We don't just want a win...we gotta win. The moral implications make losing unacceptable. Lets Go White Sox

Hold up a second, the accents that J-Lo and especially Kournikova have are great. It is part of their lure. Obviously both have amazing asses, but c'mon who doesn't like the accents?

1) A Sellout! 2) a 7 out of 10. Love to hear about the sellout. 7 out of 10 is not bad, but based on the pitch count, he must be laboring a little out there. At this point 1 more solid inning out of Loiaza would be great. Who is left in the pen? Wunsch Ginter Koch Marte I know a couple of those guys made brief appearances last night but I am guessing they could work an inning again tonight
-
Hey folks, I am just checking in...sorry if I repeat a question that has already been asked 1) How does the crowd look tonight? 2) How would you rate Loiaza's stuff tonight?

he cant hurt. Worst case scenario is that he ends up like Ken Hill was for us in 2000....performs poorly retires.

I know this wasn't addressed to me, but if you don't mind I will share my humble opinion. For starters, you can't blame him for choosing professional baseball over football, he said baseball was his favirote sport, so I respect him for following his heart. With that said he screwed over Michigan by leaving a year early, Henson and Terrell together as seniors would have been an awesome duo, and the defense was improved from their junior seasons, so perhaps that would have been a great season. Now that Henson is a terrible baseball player both in the box and on the hot corner, it is time to bring his lethal arm back under center. The Yankees do not have a place for him next year, and his trade value is s***. It is time for him to go to the NFL. I am not sure how NFL rules work. But if a team only owns you rights for a year, then i think henson should play out the remainder of the season, then he could be drafted higher in the draft next year. Money is not a problem though, because of his baseball contract. All in all, I hope he finds his nitche in football, because it would be a shame to see such a stellar athlete slip into oblivion

I have found life in the cleavage of your avatar

For once on this board, I actually agree with what you are saying Apu. I do not think that we should be selling weapons to isreal or any nation for that matter. We are just simply making enemies. Though if Isreal were to be in a war in that region I feel we should back them. I also do not agree with the usage of nuclear weapons. My mother lost her life to cancer, and though it was probably not caused by nukes, other people will suffer from their affects. Testing Nukes in the U.S. is just ridiculous. We should keep a small amount of nukes just in case. But we should not be testing new ones.

This is the worst f***ing loss of this whole f***ing season. f*** Manuel. Garland did not deserve to be taken out of this ballgame. He is a ground ball pitcher, with a runner on first he could have easily converted a dp. I don't care what you have to say in Manuel's defense CWSOX, this was a terrible decision on his part. To blow a game like this at a time like this in front of 47,000 makes me sick. :fyou Manuel :fyou Schoenwies :fyou Kenny Williams for giving us this s***ty hole of a bullpen :fyou Royals :fyou umpire (whose name eludes me) why would Ginter throw in on him :finger

On one hand, they could not do anything if we did. They don't have the range. ON the other hand we shouldn't for humanity's sake. Just use regular bombs until Iran ceases to exist.

FSU lost 5 games. I am not saying it was not difficult when they scheduled it. I know games are purchased at least 1 year in advance. I am telling you that playing FSU did not make your schedule the hardest schedule in the country. Was it a tough game, yes. Was playing OSU in the horse shoe in the cold 50 times tougher...yes. Never said the schedule was rugged because of those teams. I am saying that you should not talk them down like dirt when two have appeared in BCS bowls the last 2 years. And both would have kicked ND's ass in there respective good seasons. I realize that FSU won the ACC and there loss in january showed how pitiful the ACC was last year. And yes you can fault them for having 5 losses. The point of playing football is to win. When a team loses, it is that teams fault. Actually the BCS calculations include how many top 25 teams you played. Obviously because there is a certain amount of human error involved in deciding games that are loseable. Never said Michigan plays a tough out of conference schedule, but Western Michigan is better than Rutgers and Navy. In fact one might argue that Rutgers and Navy are the two worst teams in the country. The Bergen Record which extensively covers Rutgers declared them the worst in college football after their 11th loss. Unfortunately I have to go right now, so I can not conclude my thoughts. But until I do, just remember that the glory years of ND football have passed. And obviously I know that Michigan has the most wins but not the highest winning %, otherwise I would have said Michigan is the winningiest program of all time.

excellent point southsider. PSU, thought they would clean up like they had as an independent. 1 rosebowl appearance and 10 years later, they are fighting for .500 every year.
-
Thats because your arguments are s*** and do not deserve to be argued. It does not matter why they play. The fact is Navy has won (I believe) 4 times. 4 f***ing times. That means that you can already throw won in the win column for ND. Yes, ever since the BCS was put in motion, ND has beefed up their schedule. But when push comes to shove, Purdue and MSU are marginal teams. As are Boston College, Washington State, BYU, Stanford, Syracuse. of those teams Purdue is the only one in the top 25 (22nd). And for someone who complains about others not knowing facts, you make some mishaps yourself. Any good college football fan knows that Michigan and ND only play usually three years in a row, then take off a few years. Michigan and ND do not meet every year. Great you beat a 5 loss FSU team, now you're up there with Louisville! Washington State is not even in the top 25. Everybody knows how the big ten schedule rotates, 2 teams off every 2 years. Minus Michigan-OSU and I believe Michigan-MSU, those games don't rotate. And Northwestern, indiana, illinois, minnesota, and Iowa are good every once in a while, just like pitt and stanford are good every once in a while on your schedule. You would have feared Iowa last year, you would have feared Illinois in 2001, you would have feared northwestern in 2000 and Minnesotta has finished above .500 almost every year lately it seems. Indiana is the exception, they are due for an upset every once in a while but are never really 'good'. They would not be the team that has the most championships and heisman winners if they played in the big ten. The padded schedule they played up until the last few years bought them victories. Michigan has more wins than any other college football programs. They don't have the most championships or heismans b/c their players have not been able to pad there statistics, and in the big ten, there is always worthy opponents that give you that 1 loss that prevents a title. In case you have not noticed, the last ND championship was back in 1989 when they played 3 tough teams, Mich, and USC, the third (miami) they lost too. The reason they are not in the big ten is because their faculty rejected the merger. Lets take a look at ND's schedule the year before the BCS came into existance 3 top 25 teams. they lost to #1 Michigan, they lost to #19 Purdue, and they beat #17 LSU. Michigan meanwhile had to play 4 top 25 teams, and beat them all. :fyou notre dame
-
ND clean up in the BigTen...HA!, HA!, yeah right. Never would happen. And as for Notre Dame not wanting to be a part of the big ten...I believe it was the professors that vetoed the merger. The Athletic Department had already accepted, then when the final vote went to the professors they declined.
