QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 16, 2007 -> 12:14 PM) Great idea. Now here is the problem. What is this energy source? Can it be mass produced? Can you get filling stations to retrofit so it can deliver it? What is the cost of this source? What is the cost to the average American to replace or retrofit their vehicles to run on this energy source. What is the environmental costs of mass production of this new "green" energy source. Until these are answered, America is still going to use Oil at a high demand. So we need to address oil production still until an alternative can be named. Sorry to take so long to reply. Work and all. In my humble opinion, the best solution is to increase the use of electric cars. We already have the infrastructure in place to distribute electricity to power these cars. And with breakthroughs in battery technology, the weight and range problem is largely solved. We can generate the electricity with whatever source we want, from coal to solar to nuclear to wind to hydroelectric to geothermal and so on. Obviously, not all of that is "clean" energy, but as we continue to innovate new technology for generation, we'll produce more power with less pollution and greenhouse gasses. Take the Tesla Roadster, for example. It's a completely electric car. It can go more than 200 miles on a single charge. It costs $92,000, but it can compete with any supercar at that price point and above in terms of performance. (See www.teslamotors.com ) Tesla plans to make an electric luxury sedan at a $50-60k price point by 2009, and a more accessibly-priced family sedan after that. It's conceivable that within 6 years, we could have access to a fully-electric car for our daily driving. Take a look at the Tesla website. The roadster uses energy at an equivalent of 135 miles per gallon. So yes, it still burns coal/uranium/wind/sun/etc. for power, but it does so a lot more efficiently than a gasoline powered car, and does so without any gasoline.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2007 -> 02:45 PM) So for those playing along at home... Send Danks out for the 7th with a one run lead and 84 pitches, or go to the pen? I send him out, but with the bullpen up in case he gets into serious trouble. -

GameDay sez Erstad with the RBI single! 2-1 Sox! Erstad steals second. Uribe flies out to end the inning. How deep was Uribe's fly? GameDay has it on the warning track. -
The only real solution is to use less oil. We need to start using energy sources other than oil to power our automobiles.

Looks like there may be some rain delays tonight. Weather.com has a 60% chance of rain until around 9pm, after which there's a 30% chance. So, let's get an early lead and hold it! -
QUOTE(Damen @ May 14, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) I find some of the commetns here hilarious. You've bought into these absurd caricatures of these people absent any real evidence. What proof is there, exactly, of this ruthless Clinton smear machine? How, exactly, did Obama become "deceitful"? How has he pandered? When it's your candidate, it's "campaigning." When it's your candidate's opponent, it's "pandering." It's a subtle difference.

Walked right into that one....

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ May 14, 2007 -> 03:35 PM) Ok, thanks that helps alot. Sounds like Jim Beam Club is the way to go for VIP White Sox baseball experience. So just to get this straight, both scout seats and JB club have the buffet and drinks included?? How long was the bar open?? The proximity to the seats sounds like the best bonus the club has to offer. I'm not sure that question was directly answered. It looks like drinks are free. Is the buffet free as well? I might be able to eat enough to make the price of the ticket worthwhile.... Edit- I guess the best way to phrase my question is, "what do you get for free in the Jim Beam Club?"

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ May 14, 2007 -> 10:56 AM) So, you are aggravated about an underachieving team that is two games over .500 and 4 games back of 1st place in Mid-May? I'm thanking my lucky stars that they aren't in last place the way they've been hitting. But they aren't. So, let's see how this goes. Well, I'm still aggravated. It's frustrating to see so much of our lineup flounder like this. Even so, you're right. It could be much worse. Your post reminds me of how I sometimes felt watching Bulls games in the early 90's. They could have the occasional first half where they would be just awful, missing shots, turning the ball over, making dumb decisions, and so on. But at the half, they'd only be down 8 or 9 points. In the second half, they'd play as well as they were supposed to, and they'd win the game handily. Hopefully, the Sox can stay close while the offense sucks. If and when it starts to click, it's going to be a lot more fun to watch!

If I were forced to pick only one, I'd rather have the pitching. Even so, it gets so frustrating to see the Sox offense be so impotent.
-
I don't know. I'm getting pretty aggravated already....

QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 11, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) i'm not the guy that thought a bar was public property. "Public place" does not mean "owned by the public." It means, "open to the public." Get a more accurate screen name.

It was cold last night in the stands, but it was a lot of fun to see the come from behind win! Great game for Uribe, and congrats on the first of many MLB HR's, Sweeney!

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ May 12, 2007 -> 09:43 AM) Overall, I had a fantastic time, but it appears the scoreboard operator (or scoreboard?) also doesn't like AJ . It was Dog Day! So, no fireworks for the sake of the pooches. Great pitching! Meh offense!

Sweeney should stay, Terrero should go. /thread
