Solid episode this week. Loved the dream sequences. Who all wants things to turn around for JD? Show of hands?

White Sox vs. Angels, 5/5/07 (W)
I honestly don't want to watch today. Too much of a chance that the game puts me in a bad mood, and I'm taking Mrs. Balance out to dinner for her birthday tonight. I can't be grumpy for that.

The White Sox are an Average Team
Average? How about.... Moribund? Foundering? Pathetic? Reeling? Smelling of crap? Work with me, here, folks.

Play opposing GM, which Sox players would you want?
I'm really beginning to think we owe an apology to that guy who posted the "FIRE SALE BY JUNE" thread.

11 Year old girl takes out two illegal aliens with a shotgun!
That story was just too obviously right out of a right-wing wet dream. I join in the call of "Shenanigans!!!"

Illinois Smoking Ban Passes House
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ May 3, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) There's a big difference between working with 2000 degree metal and hazardous material and some dude smoking while drinking his beer. This is a Nanny State law at its most restrictive. It sucks - and yeah, it does hurt business after implementation. Two things: First, it's only a "nanny state" if the sole purpose of the ban is to protect smokers from themselves. That's not the case with the ban. It's to protect non-smokers from smokers, many (note that I did not say "all") of whom don't care that there may be other people who would prefer not to breathe smoke. Second, as far as hurting business, I'm interested to see what you're basing that on, as opposed to your opinion and belief. (waiting for the obligatory, "well, don't go to a bar, then" response.....)

Illinois Smoking Ban Passes House
QUOTE(StrangeSox @ May 2, 2007 -> 05:19 PM) If there was a large enough market for a smoke-free bar, they'd exist without laws requiring them. The problem with this is no one has truly been able to test that assumption. Partly because of the usual arguments against a smoking ban, bar owners are afraid to go non-smoking. They believe, whether accurately or not, that they must allow smoking to be competitive. This lack of complete information results in a market failure. The evidence suggests, however, that a smoking ban won't be bad for business. There are smoking bans in New York, California, Boston, even Ireland. And their bars are still going strong. I predict that there will be some griping for a short while, then everything will go on as before. Just without the smoking.

32 HR - 96 RBI
Currently, the White Sox are tied for the American League lead in home runs, with 32. http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/sortable_team_sta...p;sortByStat=HR They are also currently second to last in the AL in runs scored, with 99 (and just one more than Seattle, who has 98). So, first in HR's, next to last in R's. We can't get anyone on base!!!

The Greg Walker Lynch mob thread
How can all the Sox hitters suck so bad, so far beneath what we all know they're capable of, all at once? It's like they're being zapped with some kind of alien suck-ray.

Illinois Smoking Ban Passes House
QUOTE(StrangeSox @ May 2, 2007 -> 04:54 PM) I guess I'm more for people and businesses being able to choose instead of the government forcing mandates. Thing is, the non-smokers effectively had no real choice. We could either go out and breathe it all in, while coming home smelling like smoke. Or else we could not go out at all. That's not a real choice. Everyone should be able to go out to a bar and breathe non-smoky air. Smokers can choose not to smoke. Non-smokers can't choose not to breathe.

At least I didn't have to sit through this crap and watch it. It's like the Sox offense is made up of a bunch of little leaguers right now.

Illinois Smoking Ban Passes House
http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/366451,...smoke02.article Blagojevich says he's likely to sign it into law. As of January 1, 2008, Illinois goes smoke-free. I'm excited about this. I'll be able to go out and have a drink without having to breathe second-hand smoke and without coming home smelling like an ashtray.

Could you pass a Citizenship Test?
I missed the one about which form you fill out to be naturalized. I can live with that.

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/29/07 (L)
OK. Last night, well, at least the weather was nice. Today, I would very much like to see the Sox score a run. Maybe more than one. Make it so!

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) You are right, he may have missed that. So here is the update. After basically email fighting, the GM finally offered me the orignal deal plus some freebies like XM radio. I got him to increase my trade in figure and we made a deal. I am going in to the dealership in the morning to sign the papers. Hopefully nothing goes wrong. I will begin racing you fools starting tomorrow. Nice! Of course, you'll have a bit of a horsepower advantage over my RSX....

The Official [SCRUBS] Thread
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) Yeah, this. I'm starting to think it's over, there was a nice 5 year run there though. My wife feels the same way. Let's face it, it's very difficult to be consistently hilarious for that long. I'm not giving up on the show, but I think it has tailed off a bit.

Keri Russell is OK. Last night's episode was similarly OK.

Car Discussion
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:05 AM) Just about to give another update. After I left the GM of the dealership called me and told me that the numbers I wanted were totally not doable. The funny thing is he also told me that the numbers his own finance manager quoted me were not doable. He then tried to convince me that he wasnt making any profit, my trade in was crap (which it isnt at all) and that the payments were totally off base. One of them is lying, try and figure out who. Car buying is seriously the gayest thing. They could make it so much easier than it is. Well, there's no point in continuing to do business with that dealer. They're obviously not dealing with you honestly. There are a lot of Infiniti dealers you can choose from. Try another one. I wouldn't stand for being treated like the current dealer is treating you.

I hope you get exactly what you want, at exactly the price you want! If not, you can take your business to another dealer.

I do like the G35 coupe. I definitely do. Check out carbuyingtips.com ; it helped me when I bought my RSX.
