  1. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) so every team but the sox in contention for the AL has made a move!!! Rays and Twins say hi. Don't worry, he have till 3:00 EST (2:00 CST) tomorrow.
  2. Floyd has shown me a lot tonight. He came up huge in an important game for us. And everyone know my feelings on him. I'm on board with keeping him.
  3. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 04:39 PM) I find that hard to believe. The Dodgers are desperate for a SS. The only way i can see KW moving Cabrera is if he gets Roberts from Baltamore. Three team deal perhaps? I am just going off the report from Jayson Stark. There obviously is a market for Cabrera but not for what the return the White Sox (Lowe) want.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) I have a feeling it's safe to say nothing's brewing. I will be shocked if a deal goes down. Unless Kenny is working really under the radar, my gut tells me the same thing.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) My guess is if the Sox acquire Roberts and don't trade OC, you'd see Ramirez move to CF with Swisher/Paulie splitting time at 1B (Swisher would also rotate into the OF). This would be a serious offensive upgrade. However, if you are giving up Floyd you've now all of a sudden torn up the rotation. A rotation of Danks, Buehrle, Vaz, Contreras, Richard isn't going to do s*** in the playoffs. I would think at this point you would have to trade OC. There seems to be a disconnect between OC and the team all season, like he isn't one of the guys. I can't put my finger on it. I wouldn't trade Floyd unless someone is brought him to replace him for more then this season. Of course everything I've read is that Roberts in untouchable.
  6. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 03:39 PM) Shocking. We'll see tonight what Floyd is made of. It's a must win for us. He's had some poor outings lately after a great start. I honestly hope the kid has gotten his head on straight. I am just not ready to proclaim him a future all-star on this team for the next 5-10 years like many have. I hope I am wrong but if the right deal, or at this point, string of deals, comes along that gives us a great chance to win it this year, then I would go for it. If Floyd pans out well for us, then I'd gladly eat crow.
  7. Rumor is no one is really biting on Orlando.
  8. I would package Floyd if it got us Brian Roberts, and if we got a SP to replace him. I am still not sold on Floyd.
  9. QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 02:05 PM) Crede also has the greater chance of not being on his '08 team in '09 At this point, I'd rather roll the dice on Fields in '09.
  10. Crede has a better health record then Tracy. I'll pass.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:32 PM) Perhaps if you read the first post... He's not coming here. Seriously, where would he play? Why would you trade prospects for two months of Manny? You have Carlos and Dye on the corners. Neither of them can play CF if you want to move Swish to 1st. Thome is the DH. What is the point in discussing something that there is ZERO logic to.
  12. Tell me again what this thread has to do with the White Sox?
  13. We are a better team with Javy then without Javy.....end of thread.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 02:50 PM) Yeah, pitchers struggle. You apparently can't put the past behind you and understand that pitchers can change and grow and become good after they have figured it out under different coaching. His peripherals are much better, his ERA is good, he's pitching deep into ball games, and his stuff is pretty damn good too...yet for whatever reason you can't let go of the past. Gavin Floyd is a good starting pitcher and will probably be a solid #2-4 from this point on for 5-10 years. But because he struggled for a couple years, he's going to struggle for all of time. That makes sense, because that's not what pitchers like Halladay do....... I never said that he could never turn it around, all I am saying is that I need to see more than 2/3 of a season to proclaim him a great pitcher for the next 5-10 years like you have.
  15. My question is, say we get a SP without giving up Floyd/Danks/Javy/Buehrle, what do we do with Count? Banish him to the bullpen? He hasn't had THAT bad of a season. Just curious as to what you guys think.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 12:59 PM) It doesn't get much more valuable than a 25 year old starting pitcher who is having the year he is having. Have you seen the two years before this one like I have watching Philly a lot. It's great that he is doing well and it's been a total surprise, but let's not get carried away here.
  17. I think some are over-valuing Floyd in this thread.
  18. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) A perfect reason for the Sox not to deal for Blake. There have been trades within the division before, and if the Sox feel like they need to make a run at Blake, it shouldn't be a problem. Blake traded to the Dodgers.
  19. Luckly Kenny made the moves in the offseason to address the bullpen so we aren't totally screwed.
  20. This is where Paulie returns to Captain Clutch.
  21. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 05:47 PM) How did Gload end up with the Royals? Did he walk to KC? Sorry, wasn't on that chart...but NO Twins, Tigers, or Indians. What does that tell you..... Besides, I am not a Blake fan at all.
