Paul Kantner, original member of Jefferson Airplane. He was 74 and died of multiple organ failure and septic shock after suffering a heart attack earlier in the week.

Saddened to see this. He was certainly one of my favorites.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 04:06 PM) No reason not to believe him, he has some good credentials and doesn't need to be trolling. Not even related to this tweet, but this is the first time in a month I've thought the Sox are sticking with Avi. Doubt they're getting Cespedes but I don't think they're necessarily sticking with Avi either.

This pleases me.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 03:29 PM) This week has been ridiculous Also in the last day or so, have lost Dale Griffin (original drummer and a founding member of Mott the Hoople) and Gary Loizzo (Lead singer of 60's Chicago rock band The American Breed).

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) Alexei Ramirez finishes his White Sox career with 4999 plate appearances. When he's in his 40s and retired, let's sign him to an honorary one-day contract and get him that elusive #5000! He IS in his 40's.

I like what I see and hear of him already. Pretty sure I've heard him doing some college basketball games for ESPN. I could see him and Stone working well together.

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 12:14 AM) WTF DAVID BOWIE DIED (thought it was a hoax at first) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/artic...tle-cancer.html Legendary singer David Bowie has died at the age of 69 after battling cancer in secret for 18 months. That's a bit of a shocker. Damn.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 01:21 PM) I can't believe I forgot Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail. That's one I almost included.

My favorite movies in no particular order. Taxi Driver Cool Hand Luke Midnight Cowboy Goodfellas A Clockwork Orange Bride Of Frankenstein Apocalypse Now Monterey Pop Fargo Dr. Strangelove The Lord of the Rings (all three) Pulp Fiction The Graduate Dances With Wolves Arsenic and Old Lace It's really hard to stop at 15. Most of these might be interchangeable with at least another 15. These are all movies I've watched a whole lot of times and enjoy every time.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 3, 2016 -> 03:17 AM) Best catcher Sox have had in my lifetime. I always know his birth date is 12/26/1947 because he is exactly 10 years older than me. It could certainly be argued he was the best White Sox catcher ever.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 3, 2016 -> 05:04 PM) Jimmy Butler is just plain f***ing awesome. Loved Dan Roan's comment to Jimmy in the post game interview: You gonna fly the plane home too?

Ok, I've been a Bulls fan since day 1 and that has to rank as one of the best games ever. Sure glad I watched!

Wayne Rogers who played Trapper John on tv's Mash has died.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 09:03 PM) So how about that Warriors game sans Steph? Kind of trying to figure out when J4L gives Steph GOAT status. I've talked quite a bit with my son about the Warriors' chance of breaking the Bulls 72 wins record. All it takes is an injury here an injury there and poof! There goes the chance. There's still the chance of course. But, as the season wears on that likelihood is bound to get slimmer and slimmer.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 11:36 PM) https://mobile.twitter.com/ckamka/status/682283542110429184 Cespedes splits at Comerica, Citi Field, and every where else. I've been undecided on which of the big three I prefer but over the past few days I really want us to sign YO. Hopefully soon. Initially I wanted Cespedes, then Gordon. Now I'm back to wanting or preferring Cespedes. One of them PLEASE!

Really fun ending. A bit nerve wracking, but fun!

Meadowlark Lemon 83, probably the most famous Harlem Globetrotter died Monday. Wilt Chamberlain called him the most sensational, amazing basketball player he'd ever seen.

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) Christmas Story I make sure to watch every year. An underrated favorite of mine is Trapped in Paradise. I like Trapped In Paradise as well. Also, The Ref. As for The Christmas Carol, I prefer the 1938 version. I've needed to take several years off from watching It's A Wonderful Life and The Christmas Story. I love both but just seen each sooooo many times, even viewing once a year just seems pointless.

Well, as for me I lost interest in Star Wars about 30 years ago.

Sox Acquire All-Star 3B Todd Frazier from Reds in 3 team deal

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 02:02 PM) Haven't read the thread yet but I will shortly. Well, Hahn is thinking like me and others. With Frazier, the infield changes so much if we re-sign Lexi. It'll be Frazier, Lexi, Lawrie and Abreu. ON PAPER, excellent. Very sad to lose Trayce, Micah and Montas. Once again we overpaid. I realize I got what I wanted (if we re-sign Lexi; ss will be a major weakness if Saladino is there). I did get what I wanted but wow, the overpay! For an all star third baseman, this was not overpay. Montas, a bullpen guy with promise. Trayce, almost assuredly a 4th outfielder. Micah, a second baseman who can't field and his bat is questionable. This is overpay(!)?? -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 12:11 PM) My reaction was what is next? I am no prospect lover, but they have to keep going if they are trying to win. They cannot stop here, or they lose the trade. If they do and fall short, whether you love Trayce, Micah, and Montas, hate them or are indifferent, it makes no sense to trade them for a guy who will be around 2 years, if you are going to be a .500 or so team. You need to do whatever you can to get into the playoffs. Now it is about spending some money. Spend it JR. Get the guy that will take you over the top, and melt the doom and gloomers like the Wicked Witch of the West. Then it is a huge White Sox win. Sums it up quite well. Anybody saying the Sox aren't the clear winner here is nuts.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 12:33 PM) Todd Frazier on #WhiteSox trade:I've got to be truthful to you, I'm pretty excited. Just saw the lineup on TV. It put a smile on my face.' This put a smile on MY face. I like this trade a lot and I was a big fan of Trayce, always have been. But, I was a pretty big fan of Jordan Danks too. Trayce showed a lot of promise last September but he probably will just be a 4th outfielder, albeit maybe a pretty good one. For that, we already have Schuck. We get a proven all star third-baseman for three prospects. Micah, I've soured on and he's going to be 25 in a couple of days. Kinda past being touted as a prospect. Trayce will also be 25 to start the season. Even if Montas turns out to be a great bullpen guy (and that's still an "if"), this deal was well worth it. Now, for Upton or Cespedes, though my biggest concern is SS. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) Warriors streak about to end. To the 9-15 Bucks. Well, long road trips do take a toll.
