  1. QUOTE(heirdog @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 02:07 AM) I think you have to add Danks to this list. He's only a rookie and while he is not outstanding at this point, would you truly feel comfortable giving up on him next year? Not sold on Wasserman (Aardsma would have been one of your untouchables in April) and Richar yet, but willing to keep faith in Richar. My ideal "realistic" team for next year would be as follows (KW, are you listening?): Batting Order SS: Vizquel 1B: Kotchman RF: Dye DH: Dunn 3B: Fields C: Pierzynski CF: Melky Cabrera 2B: Richar LF: Owens Bench: Hall, Ozuna, Sweeney, Aybar SP: Buehrle, Vasquez, Contreras, Ervin Santana, Danks RP: Jenks, Thornton, Logan, Floyd, MacDougal, Phillips, Linebrink FA signings: Dunn, Vizquel, Linebrink (ARod would be nice but wayyyyy too expensive) Trades: 1) Konerko & Garland to LAA for Kotchman, E. Santana and Aybar 2) Thome & Crede to Yanks for Melky Cabrera and 2 prospects (Brett Gardner, OF and Mark Melancon, P) Gone via FA: Uribe, Pods, Erstad That gives us more of an Ozzie-type team with lots of speed, OBP and "smart" players that are more or less durable. no thanks on linebrink
  2. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 12:41 PM) I'm not sure if this has been posted or not: On July 31st, the Cubs were 56-49 and 1 game back. On August 31st, they're 68-64 and 2.5 games up. They went 12-15 (.444) in August and somehow that built them a 2.5 game lead. My god, the NL central is horrible. wow that is just insane
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) What a shocker....a couple of horrific defensive plays give the Cubs the lead. This season is just so predictable at this point (I have no clue why I didn't bet today that the Cubs would win and Brewers would lose). come on fathom everyone knows the cubs pull out games with the help of passed balls and errors all the time!
  4. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 21, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) And a one-way Chunnel ride to boot! checkmate!
  5. i cant even see the brewers finishing at .500 my how far they are falling
  6. are the brewers going to take capuano out of the rotation? 0 wins in his last 15 starts thats danny wright territory
  7. close it for the weekend and lets hope for a change in luck
  8. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 05:13 PM) They kept mentioning Ronny Cedeno on White Sox weekly...I doubt KW could get him but that wouldn't be a bad return for Pods. why not. pinella doesnt play him and theyre desperate for outfield help. we need to take advantage of other teams problems for once
  9. good to see ankiel back in the show. if he can contribute and help the cards it will be a great story
  10. you need to stop over analyzing every situation and just let it come naturally.
  11. cant hold a five run lead in the ninth? just hand the cubs the division now then
  12. someone let the brewers and cards know that its ok to win a game
  13. terrible we need to see if he is capable of starting or not
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) Seriously, why can't teams play defense anymore when they face the Cubs? no kidding its unreal the amount of unearned runs they are scoring. they are getting every break with calls, wild pitches, key injuries to other teams right when they are playing them it goes on. my hope is that their bullpen will eventually give out with their heavy workload but they just dont lose. i keep telling myself theres another two months but i really wished the brewers picked up a bat. they are home run or nothing and are almost as bad as us when it comes to knocking in guys from third.
  15. cordero coughs up lead in 9th and brewers blow six run lead to lose first game of doubleheader at st louis
  16. QUOTE(michelangelosmonkey @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 10:47 AM) Sox were 39-30 in games Frank Thomas started that year. He was hurt after 74 games or something like that. Then Magglio? Those are two guys that are 1.000 & .900 OPS guys. How good would Minnesota have been last year if Morneau and Mauer were out half the season? I think 82-80 with your two superstars off the team is kind of an indication of an underlying good team...the sort of team that with health and a few breaks might win the WS in a year or so. yeah but the back end of our rotation in 2004 was brutal
  17. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 10:31 PM) I'm glad the article points out that when Schilling was in front of Congress he totally backed off earlier statements about the steroid problem in baseball. exactly hes a big man now but he totally wimped out and backed down in DC
  18. taking a look at the standings why did the cubs only play 12 interleague games?
  19. this has bad karma written all over it. briggs will end up blowing out a knee or tearing his acl in the preseason and wont ever play another down for the bears
  20. when you cant hit the ball out of the infield you stink
