  1. Ozzie seemed to start calling for the steal right after Paulie's K. Like to say fu(k it, if Paulie is not up, no one is gonna drive Dye in. He got his wish.
  2. Besides his Blown Save vs Detroit, Aardsma has been lights out. He has at least 1 K in every appearance.
  3. Why not pinch hit for Molina here?
  4. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 6, 2007 -> 12:22 PM) 8 other guys in the lineup either have a future or have power (aside from Pablo Ozuna when he's in there, but he is meant to be a leadoff hitter against LHP). Darin Erstad is a .270 singles hitter and he's not going to hit 15 homers; I know he's the leadoff hitter and he doesn't need to hit for power, yadayada, but he's not getting on base at a great rate and he never will, he doesn't have the speed to steal 30 bases, and thus, he's almost never in scoring position. Offensively, he just does not bring much. However, there's a reason I've shied away from criticizing Erstad and instead Walker over the past 2-3 weeks is because Erstad is actually producing. I don't see it lasting all season, but I'll take it when it comes. He'll have streaks where he hits like this, and then he'll have streaks where he is 4-3 Erstad again. Basically, all I've come to really want through this whole charade of CFers the White Sox have put out there over the past 7 months of baseball is a real CFer. I understand wanting a real CFer, but Erstad is as close as we have right now. Even after his bad years, he still is a .286 hitter who gets on base at a .340 clip. Again, not great, but not bad. I think the fact that he is both in CF and leading off seems to make people want him to achieve almost unattainable numbers. It is funny that you mentioned 15 HRs and 30 SBs because he is on pace for 34 SBs, and 12 HRs (pretty close) - and that is after his horrible first two weeks. I would be happy with 10 HR and 25 SBs.
  5. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 6, 2007 -> 12:50 AM) so why exactly should I commend a batter for putting up a .267/.318/.366/.684 line? I know you're not a big stats guy, but that's doing virtually nothing at all. He's been the best hitter for average on the team (other than a healthy Thome), which is why I've criticized others on the team too, but they all have upside, which Darin Erstad has virtually none of. He brings a good attitude and energy on every play, but several in the majors do too, and they provide offensive upside. Erstad, at his very best, is going to hit .300 while getting on at a .340 clip and putting up an OPS around .750, which means below average patience at the plate and below average power. The only thing the guy does well offensively is make contact with the ball. That has it's value, but that's as a 2 hitter when he's playing well (such as now), or a 7-9 hitter. And let me be clear, half of the reason I criticize Erstad so much is because of how Ozzie is using him, so maybe it is a bit unjust to completely tear Erstad apart. However, how can you justify the lineup Ozzie put on the field today? It makes absolutely no sense to put two of your worst players at getting on base at the top while a guy like Iguchi is hitting 6th in a spot in the lineup that doesn't fit what he brings to the game. Ozzie is possibly the worst manager in the game when it comes to making lineups, and I have no problem saying that at all. I want to like Erstad, I really do, but unless he suddenly becomes a .300/.350/.450/.800 player, or Ozzie comes to judgment and moves him down in the lineup (which, even if he gets cold again, I doubt he'll do) it's going to be very hard for me to do so. How does Erstad have no upside, yet the rest of the lineup does? That makes no sense. He has clearly shown from ST on that he is past his injuries (just like Dye) from the last few years. No one is saying you have to commend him, but bashing him for being one of the main contributors in this offense is silly. Since April 19th he is batting .357/.400/.482/.882 with 10 RBI and 2 SB. That is pretty solid production from the leadoff spot. Also, he is a pretty big improvement over the automatic out we had in CF for majority of last season. If Anderson was putting up these numbers, no one would be complaining. I agree with your assessment of Ozzie's lineups. I don't believe he even knows what he is doing anymore.
  6. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) In Charlotte?
  7. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 5, 2007 -> 08:52 PM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws Looks like he can be back in a real soon, which would be huge. If it was me however, I would activate Hall and option Logan to AAA right away. But, I would have Hall be nothing more then the DH. Keep Gustavo to be the backup Catcher. Hall can hit, he has taken numerous batting practice sesions with no pain and can still hit like he used to. But the throwing part is what is scary. And then when Thome comes back, Hall will be able to throw normal, and Gustavo can be sent down. Thats great news. I hope he can start getting some AB's soon. We really could use him vs LHP. Maybe he could just throw it to the pitcher and have him relay it to 2nd on a stolen base attempt.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ May 4, 2007 -> 08:34 AM) I was at the Indians game last night. It's like old Sox games. They're winning but no one's showing up to the game. I walked up and got 5 rows from the wall in RF. Keep going, they just lost two straight.
  9. What does Erstad have to do to please you guys? He's been the only bright spot in the order over the last few weeks and yet he sucks and we need someone else. If the rest of the lineup wasn't sucking so bad, he would be a non-issue. LF is more of an issue than CF. Hell if you are just looking at numbers, every other spot in in the order is more of an issue than Erstad's. He is only leading off because Pods is injured. So he has actually filled in pretty good in that situation.
  10. Garret Anderson is on the DL, thank god. He was hitting .438 vs Count. Sox win. "The Sox are who we thought they were"
  11. Ozzie: Also, I did not know Podsednik was going to be out until June:
  12. Sox will break out of the slump today. Danks needs some run support.
  13. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 2, 2007 -> 12:33 PM) Two words Tom Emanski. http://www.tom-emanski-baseball-videos.com/ Maybe they could get Fred McGriff, two for the price of one! The Crime Dog can fix em!
  14. 32, 5'11"
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2007 -> 10:11 AM) Nice work, now it makes total sense Thanks.
  16. This guy throws a no-hitter into the 7th, then leaves with an injury. Now he is is out 4-6 weeks. Can the Yankees pitching staff get any thinner? Interesting to note that he was pitching against Texas (Buehrle).
  17. Actually what is up with Ozzie? The last couple of years he would be pissed off chewing people out in this situation, now everyone sounds like Eeyore.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 05:37 AM) I would literally kill for that dude to be on the Sox. Actually being on the Sox would hurt him since he kills Sox pitching. Without games against the Sox, he would be batting a whopping .214, with 2 HRs, and 6 RBI in 56 ABs. BTW, CC let up 3 HRs in the 1st inning vs the Jays. When is the last time that happened to him?
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ May 1, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) Well the Sox have played the hardest schedule in the AL so far, and have had no hitting. I guess the fact they're about 3 games out and 1 game over .500 isn't all that bad at this point. The key is when they get the under .500 teams this year, to BEAT THEM!! April was our hardest month. I am just happy we escaped above .500. Detroit and Minnesota have had really easy schedules and they will come down over the course of the year. However, Cleveland is rolling even though they had an above average SOS. We really need to take care of business this year in our division.
  20. Floppy disks use a different method for installing, and normally you will run into problems when you try to just copy the contents of them to a cd or other storage device. They will install, but the program will not run properly. Where are the files being installed to? If the program is self-contained (not installing to any of the windows directories), you may be able to copy the entire installed progam from the original comp to a usb drive, then to the second comp.
  21. The weirdest thing about B-Mac is everyone thought he would give up a ton of HR's, especially pitching in Texas, yet he has only allowed 3 (all in one game). His WHIP is 2.10 and he has 10 BBs and only 12 Ks. No one could've expected this. Yes he was overrated by many, but he is not pitching up to his ability at this time. If he was doing this on the Sox it would be ugly right now.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 11:57 AM) Holiday Inn Express. fixed. No way the Sox go after Delgado. I would say the only way the Sox look for a DH/1B would be if Thome had another setback and was going to be out for longer than a month.
  23. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 09:05 AM) So how does this rate with the Thomas Jones trade? Didn't we get a 4th round pick for him, or something like that? The Bears swapped 2nd round picks with the Jets, then parlayed that into a 2nd (Dan Bazuin - DE), 3rd (Garrett Wolfe - RB), and 5th (Kevin Payne - SS) in this years draft and a 3rd rounder in 2008. So Angelo did pretty good. I like the Moss trade for NE, but I don't think he will have that big of an impact on the team as everyone believes. They play a specific system which highlights team play and spreading the ball around. How long will it take for him to complain about 4 reception and 55 yards? The Patriots are basically the same regardless of their personnel on the offensive side.
