  1. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) It's a message board. Why can't people complain? So Henry can complain.. but people can't complain about Henry complaining...???
  2. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) all Im saying is... if someone does not like a thread topic.. move on. That's all. We are all sox fans. We have different views of the team, how the team gets treated by the media ect. Nothing wrong with a good debate, but a debate is not when it is 10-1 with 5 people debating and the other 5 posting agreements our cheap comments. I know what you are saying. But it's like I said in one of these wacky threads today.. it's like a Frank praise thread. It's started with the topic. "Good Job Big Hurt" and within 8 minutes there are 42 posts (sic) "Eff that baby... big skirt... whiner...etc, etc..." I don't see any cheap comments. There is a serious stereotype that Sox fans are obsessed with the Cubs... and Henry fits that to a "T". It's not a shot... it's a fact. Besides.. no need to worry about Henry. He's been getting his balls busted about this stuff for years.
  3. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) I dont get why all the regulars have to team up and bash a guy making a point. I see this treatment more often than not. No one is going to have the same views all the time . I am tired of reading threads that have THE Regualrs vs The others. It's getting old and making my soxtalk experience less enjoyable. As long as the guy is not trolling, why have a 10-1 battle? If someone wants to talk about the media bias, so what? He has the facts and this is more than thread worthy for the fans who would like to talk about it. Here we go again.... :rolly Who the hell is bashing him? It's called conversation. A debate. A disagreement. He's pointing out his side, and others are pointing out their side. Want know what I'm sick of.. the pot stirring.
  4. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) It's indexed to the CPI, so it's only being changed in nominal terms, not real dollars. What's that mean...? It's real dollars out the paycheck!
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) I don't care who is doing better. I am sick of the Yankees and Red Sox always drawing the most coverage and getting all their players in the All-Star game. I am voting for my team's players no matter what. Blame the Tribune.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) See, that's the one interesting thing about Social Security though...while 1 higher income earner would pay more into the system than 1 low income earner, beyond $90k a year salary for the high income earner, the percentage of their income paid into SSI declines as their income goes up, because of the SSI wage cap: only the first $90,000 of a person's income is taxable for Social Security. In other words, while a CEO may make 6000x the income of a person making $15k a year, he only pays 6 times as much into the SSI system. This is fundamentally different from the income tax system, in that it is far more regressive. This dramatically reduces the amount of the program that is funded by "The rich" compared to other parts of the tax system, and significantly lowers the level at which people pay more into the system than they get back. Unless that cap is raised (Which has not happened since the Clinton administration), the only way the SSI system grows is if more people pay into it. Furthermore, the exact amount paid out would be a strong function of life expectancy, which I think we all can probably agree is going to wind up being significantly less for a person born in the U.S. Last year the cap was $97K, the year before $94K...
  7. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) Probably on purpose. Oh hell... there went the AJ again..

  11. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) How do you explain the Sun Times disparity? Publicity. They don't want Henry only complaining about the Trib.
  12. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) Yep, agree. I mean, if you're homophobic, would you go into a gay club? POTM material right there.. LMAO!! But seriously.. this happens in nearly every thread here. For pete's sake we can't have a positive Frank thread without someone coming on in and trashing his ass. Same analogy works there. If you write it, someone will comment on it....
  13. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) Who's the alien? Henry? Si. BTW, I'm half kidding.
  14. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) how about bringing Dave Wills home and moving Farmer back where he belongs -- the second chair. He got a 1 year deal.

  24. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 10:51 AM) Actually I am a overly optimistic jayhawk fan and always angered white sox fan. But the hulk reference was very good.....now to find some shirt to tear. Pfffttt.... I challenge you... to a duel!
  25. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 10:47 AM) Just show ya back an email, but its cool in this forum. I had the Tribe feed of the game last night and I was laughing at Martinez reaction as well. Didn't see the part when the inning ended and Freddy and him shared a quick laugh but I'd have been laughing than too. Now lets just take this game tonight with Jose on the mound and split the series. Did I miss the vote on this one... ?
