QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:37 AM) I don't get it Frankly, I think some fans need to stop being whiny b****es and enjoy watching White Sox Baseball. I've never really noticed or have been outraged by local newspaper bias, so either I am blinded by my own stupidity or lack a degenerative 'woe is me' gene necessary to properly view it. ^^ And I corrected it for ya. But don't worry. Henry will explain in painful detail why you should be concerned about this.

Total and complete bed rest for Jill and Mia. It's going to be a looooong summer for them. And even that guarantees nothing. Just keep the fingers crossed that the little princess can hold off her shopping urges for 9 more weeks.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:29 AM) I agree with Steff, IMO the whole "White Sox are mistreated by the media" topic is stale and overblown, as are the never ending stories about encountering Cub fans and commenting how stupid they are. But, as you said, it's an open forum and some here may enjoy it. To each their own I guess. 1 other will enjoy it. The others will rip him apart and he'll end up on the ESPN boards...

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 06:59 AM) Blurb in the Trib eluded to if Mackowiak doesn't work out in CF, that Pablo Ozuna could see some time out there... I'll get out the rosery...

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 31, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) I was at work and called ESPN to tell them, the screener said they already had heard.....next segment Mac corrected himself.. I was on the horn also. I love how he said "you can score an E1 on the last segment.... " and corrected his comments.

We already have one of you here Henry, thankfully on a smaller scale. No need for another. Why not use your vacation as a time to clear this obsession from your life...?

Frivolous. The end.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13067706/ Identities of crash survivor, victim mixed up Family tends to comatose woman, then learns their real daughter is dead Updated: 8:01 p.m. CT May 31, 2006 INDIANAPOLIS - A family sat by their daughter’s hospital bedside for weeks after an auto accident before they realized that the blond-haired young woman was not their daughter after all, but another college student injured in the wreck. Their own daughter, it turned out, was dead and buried. In a tragic mix-up, one family was incorrectly told their daughter had died in the April 26 crash in Indiana, and another was erroneously informed their daughter was in a coma. The two young women looked remarkably alike, and the one in a coma suffered facial swelling, broken bones and cuts and bruises, and was in a neck brace. The family of Taylor University student Laura VanRyn, 22, disclosed the mix-up Wednesday on a Web log that they had used to record detailed updates on the young woman’s recovery. “Our hearts are aching as we have learned that the young woman we have been taking care of over the past five weeks has not been our dear Laura, but instead a fellow Taylor student of hers, Whitney Cerak,” the VanRyns said on the blog. The family said that as the young woman began regaining consciousness at a rehabilitation center in Grand Rapids, Mich., she said things that made them question her identity. Confusion after coma As recently as Monday, the VanRyns reported: “While certain things seem to be coming back to her, she still has times where she’ll say things that don’t make much sense.” Officials at Taylor University, an evangelical Christian college in Upland, Ind., about 60 miles from Indianapolis, confirmed the case of mistaken identity. “We rejoice with the Ceraks. We grieve with the VanRyns,” said Taylor spokesman Jim Garringer. He said the Grant County coroner notified the school of the error. Four Taylor students and an employee were killed when their van was struck by a tractor-trailer that had drifted across a highway median. Those in the van worked for Taylor’s dining services and were preparing for a banquet for the inauguration of a new president of the 1,850-student school. It was not clear who mistakenly identified the victims or how the error happened. The coroner’s office did not immediately return a call. But the VanRyns, who are from Caledonia, Mich., said their daughter and Cerak, 18, of Gaylord, Mich., bore an “uncanny resemblance.” The families of both victims issued a statement in which they said, “We are experiencing a wide range of emotions upon learning that the young woman being cared for at the Spectrum Health Continuing Center is Whitney Cerak and not Laura VanRyn. These two wonderful young women shared a striking similarity in size, hair, facial features and body type.” The statement also said the two families are supporting each other through prayer. Most of the crash victims had funerals with closed caskets. A month ago, an overflow crowd of more than 1,400 people turned out for what they thought was Cerak’s funeral in Gaylord, Mich. Family blogged woman’s recovery The VanRyn family used the blog to provide progress reports on the young woman, reporting, for example, that her hair was in pigtails or braids, that she managed to feed herself some applesauce, that she played a game of “connect four” with one of the therapists and did quite well, and that she performed an exercise in which her therapist gave her a word and she had to supply the word’s opposite. A call to the VanRyns was not immediately returned. An attorney for the Cerak family did not return a call either. Prosecutors are weighing criminal charges against the truck driver, saying he may having fallen asleep at the wheel. http://lauravanryn.blogspot.com/ The VanRyan family blog... Prayers for them..

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) Good for Damon. All that fat bastard (moore) did was complain that people were profitting off the war, when he himself profitted off it more than anyone. IFHe stole clips, stole music, didn't get clearances and didn't get permissions to use what he did, he should pay. But I'm sure he did, or he wouldn't have gotten a distributor, so MM will be just fine. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 31, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) I'm pretty sure all Moore had to do was get permission from NBC for use of the footage. And as long as the clip itself is not doctored I think he'll be in the clear. ^

QUOTE(Soxy @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:25 AM) A mutt. One of my friend's parents own a pet store and they take in stray litters give em their shots and sell them for $5. The one I'm (hopefully) getting is a girl after all (phew). My friend's mom apparently can't quite tell what kind of dog it is, she thinks a lab with something else. So, I would say I am looking into the ultimate designer one-of-a-kind dog. Ginger is a mutt (saved her from the animal welfare) and she's just turned out to be the best dog I've ever owned.

OK.. enough is enough. Earlier this month step daughter's 2 year old beagle drops dead...the next day, my grama passes away. Last week we find out that step son's wife (who is 29 weeks along) is having early contractions and issues with her cervix... this after a year of Jim's mom having major heart surgery, his aunt dying from cancer (7 weeks after being diagnosed), and the birth, and death, of Joey... So now step son's wife was admitted to Edward last night and is being shot up with steriods to speed up the lung development in little Mia because they think she might deliver "soon"... This is getting re-god-damn-diculous....

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 30, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) You sure as hell can pay more for a place than it appraises for. That happens all the time, especially in California. If their mortgage required 10% down, they would require 10% of the $137k + the additional money to make up the difference. There are definitely ways around it. In fact, I sold my first townhouse for $124,500 and it only appraised for $121,000. The sale price was never an issue. The sale price could be double the appraised value if that is what the buyer is willing to pay. The key is, they will have to come up with the funding above the appraised value. I don't think anyone said it's never happened - and as Mike pointed out usually the appraiser does whatever he can to claim the value at where it needs to be. Though even if it does come in low, it's a hurdle that apparently some banks are willing to overlook. http://homebuying.about.com/cs/appraisals/a/real_estate.htm If the property appraises lower than the sales price, the loan might be declined, but that isn't the only hurdle it must pass. There's info at the link specifically if it does come in low.. If the Appraisal Comes in Low Don't panic if the appraisal comes in low, because there are often steps you can take to make the deal work. If the appraisal uncovers other problems, remember that most problems are correctable. Try to keep your cool and work through issues one step at a time.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ May 30, 2006 -> 12:23 PM) You are correct on the most part Steff. However, in raising my boxers, I have found that the females are much more agressive and territorial than the males. It may be a breed thing and this kind of stuff may differ from breed to breed. The biggest part for me is that male dogs lift their legs to urinate, so they can basically pee on anything they want. So while you are in the potty training period the male dog can pee on the couch, the walls, children's toys, and such, while the female will just pee on the ground or floor. That makes it much easier. I believe it has a lot to do with how you raise them and the tendancies of the breed you get. Do your research in the breed of dog you will be getting. Do a lot of it. Just don't get one because it is so cute and fluffy. You will be much happier if you do this and so will your dog. I would highly recommend the boxer breed to anyone. They are fabulous dogs and a great family pet. I wanted a boxer beyond belief when we were considering a second dog. But with Ginger (a mix lab, ret, ridgeback) already 70lbs there was no way we'd have room. I did a ton of research on them also and the girls did seem a bit more "protective". I agree with the peeing thing also. Our dogs are house trained (like a cat :rolly ) and a boy standing would not work at all. Soxy... what breeds are you considering? After all the research I did... we ended up with Abby the rat terrier. 15lbs. And she kicks the s*** out of Ginger.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 30, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) This is based on the comps that the appraiser used to define your value. Maybe the appraiser can list the comps he used to appraise the condo and see if they are a true representation of your market value. If you can find condos in the same complex that went for about that price you are okay. But if everything in that complex is lower then you will have a problem. ^^, agree. I, like Mike, have never seen this happen either. I got 6K more for my townhouse than my old neighbor.. she sold 4 months previous to me. 6K in 4 months.. not a snowballs chance in hell, but the bank said so because some newer, more expensive, townhouses had just closed. When we refinanced our current home we almost had real trouble.. We had built the most expensive house in the neighborhood interior wise and then finished the basement and added a deck and pool. The value was faaarrrr from what was around here. Our savior was that they had just approved multi-million dollar houses and 5 lots had sold. They needed 3 to compare it to. We lucked out big time otherwise the refi would have been a no go. It's a crap shoot.

The selling price can not be more than the appraised value? But the appriased value can be more than the sale price? Not sure why for sure, but maybe something to do with insurance. So, slowly, cause the bank said so.

Girls, IMO, are easier to train. Boys (my step daughter has 2) are a more agressive and territorial, and generally don't seem to be as friendly. Girls also didn't have an attitude change after being fixed (their boys did). Though I have to say I also believe it all depends on the dog and how you as an owner raise them.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 26, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) First thing i'd of wanted was an apology for being convicted on such shoddy evidence... I mean I don't know if he was guilty or not but that case has reasonable doubt written all over it... Convicted to death is what I'd want an apology for.
