QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) No matter what comes out, I still refuse to accept this statement...if a guy is willing to cheat in 1998, why should I assume he wasn't willing to cheat before that? Take it up with the men that made the statement.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) This sounds like a response noted Bonds apologist Michael Wilbon would say on PTI. You're limiting the scope of his steroid use, and its possible implications, by suggesting others did as well. Every baseball player referenced within the last paragraph aren't fit to stand within Bonds' shadow. How can you assert anything is "crystal clear" with determing explanations of why Bonds is singled out? Those reasons you listed (Ruth/Media) certaintly contribute to his exclusion, but he brought scrutiny upon himself. HE associated with employees of a company manufacturing chemical inhancements. HE testified in court to unknowingly spreading steroid cream over his shoulders. I'll agree Bonds will likely be a HOF. His numbers, as you've indicated, were tremendous before 1998--when his physical stature ballooned. Where I disagree with you is I don't believe he'll be voted in first ballot. Journalists, former players, etc. casting a vote for Bonds can't possibly ignore all implications. LMAO... apologist.. Alllrighty.

http://www.kfwb.com/pages/12616.php Boys' Internet Prank Results in Fontana Man's Sex Crime Arrest FONTANA, Calif. (AP) - A group of boys who posed as a 15-year-old girl for an Internet prank ended up helping police arrest a 48-year-old man who tried to meet the fictitious teenager for sex. Police say the five boys had created a fake profile of a girl on social-networking Web site MySpace-dot-com to cheer up a friend who had recently broken up with his girlfriend. But the fictitious girl soon attracted an adult admirer, who sent her sexually suggestive messages. The man also sent the ``girl'' his picture and arranged to meet her at a public park. The boys went to the park yesterday to meet the man. When Michael Ramos of Fontana arrived, the teens called police. The officers arrested him for investigation of felony attempted lewd and lascivious conduct with a child and for an outstanding warrant.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) So the question is, do you believe all that....or Barry? Ladies and gentlemen, we have the smoking gun. Enjoy baseball hell Barry, you have earned it. Baseball hell.. a bit dramatic, no? He was the best player of this generation pre-steriods. Assuming he started steriods in 1998, as per the "proof", he still would have 3 MVP's, 8 Gold Gloves, 7 All Star games, 7 silver sluggers, and 411 homers. Yeah he probably used the 'roids BUT many other players used as well. Crystal clear Bonds is being singled out for 2 reasons. 1) He's approaching Ruth and Aaron. Ruth more importantly because he is so much bigger than the game. Remember when Aaron broke Ruth's record? and 2) It's Bond's attitude towards the fans and even more importantly the media. They are vultures waiting to pick at his carcass. If he was nicer - ala Mark back when he was using and everyone knew about it but didn't say s*** - this would be a non issue. Can't deny that. My dad and I were talking a few weeks ago about back in '93 when the Phillies won the NL pennant, many players just happened to have career years. Lenny Dykstra was nothing but a platoon outfielder with the Mets in the late 80's. And then he turned into the Incredible Hulk. Darren Daulton was a terrible catcher before he had an incredible 4-5 year run. The list goes on Incaviglia, Hollins, "Wild Thing" Williams, etc. All of these guys had career years just by chance, I don't think so. Bonds will still make the HOF. First ballot I'll bet.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) According to the San Fran Chronicle leaks...no he did not swear that. He swore that he used but did so unwillingly...that Anderson never told him it was steroids. Ahhhhh...

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) Well as always you have to preface this stuff with, Bonds is a public figure, therefore for him to be successful on any suit he would need to show actual malice, ie that they actually knew what they were printing to in fact be false. Secondly, there always should be serious questions of why these reporters have more information than a grand jury? Probably will make some money off of this, but as for any perjury charges etc, unlikely. Same as the Gretzky case, prosecutors dont want to touch this type of stuff unless it is 150% chance of conviction. You take Bonds to the mat and lose, you may have ruined your career. He swore under oath, without immunity from perjury, that he did not use. If they have proof he used.. he perjured himself, no?

Weird.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060307/sp_nm/...XAwBHNlYwM3NTU- SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The death of Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett has brought to light his true age, which even the Minnesota Twins listed incorrectly his entire career. When the 10-times All-Star outfielder died on Monday in Arizona after a stroke, many fans learned for the first time that Puckett was born in 1960, making him a year older than that given by his team and elsewhere throughout his career. "We had it listed as 1961," said Molly Gallatin, who coordinates publications for the Twins, including the annual media guide with detailed information on players. "We probably put it down the first year and never looked at it again. I don't know why it happened; it fooled me." Puckett played his entire 12-year career with the Twins, who apparently learned of his correct age after the outfielder's retirement in 1996 and reported it in announcing his death. The long-running error means baseball cards throughout Puckett's career contained the wrong information. Officials at the Hall of Fame say they learned the true birth date of the star, who helped the Twins to two World Series in 1987 and 1991, about three years ago.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 12:58 PM) Sure looks like they have a lot of stuff to back it up. I've been reading on this as it developed. They have a lot of testimony that's for sure. But a smoking gun....? If they have one, Bonds is going away for perjury also.
-
If they can't back this up they are in some serious s***... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/base...ex.html?cnn=yes NEW YORK (SI.com) -- Beginning in 1998 with injections in his buttocks of Winstrol, a powerful steroid, Barry Bonds took a wide array of performance-enhancing drugs over at least five seasons in a massive doping regimen that grew more sophisticated as the years went on, according to Game of Shadows, a book written by two San Francisco Chronicle reporters at the forefront of reporting on the BALCO steroid distribution scandal.

Why was the car embarrassed? It had gas. Why do seaguls live by the sea and not by the bay? Because then they would be bay-guls.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 07:45 AM) I didn't even know she was ill. Was her cancer diagnosis made while Chris was still alive? If so, then her having to struggle with both of their conditions and with all the media and public scrutiny showed quite a bit of heroic grace. She was diagnosed in August of last year. Non-smoker. What a shame..

:headshake http://www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A...=73237655398595 Details expected in probe of 5-year-old's death while left home alone Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 03/6/06 GANNETT NEW JERSEY SAYREVILLE — Balloons, stuffed animals and containers of bright, red roses, dotted the front yard of 14 Deerfield Road Sunday. The small memorial stands in tribute to Erik Sturgis, the 5-year-old boy who died Saturday after his father left him alone and the house caught fire. Meanwhile, a medical examiner has concluded the boy died of smoke inhalation, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan said Sunday. The investigation into the cause of the late-morning blaze and why Erik was left alone continues, Kaplan said, but details are expected today. Charges have not been filed against the father, Kevin Sturgis. Firefighters found Erik at 11:47 a.m. Saturday in an upstairs room in the house he shared with his father. Erik was taken out on a stretcher and to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:20 p.m. The boy was left alone around 8 a.m. when his father left for work at Wakefern Warehouse in South Brunswick. Emergency workers were alerted to the fire when a neighbor dialed 911 at 11:19 a.m. Some neighbors said they noticed smoke Saturday but didn't realize Erik was inside because the father's truck was not in the driveway. "I only saw him on the stretcher," said one Deerfield Road resident, who declined to provide his name. "It's very sad." Things were not easy for Erik. His mother, Christina Dunigan Sturgis, was the victim of a murder-suicide in 2001 in Warren County, authorities said. Erik's father and mother had split up. State Division of Youth and Family Services spokesman Andy Williams said Erik was being cared for properly during the agency's last contact with the family. "Last spring, we had a call on something completely unrelated to (Erik)," Williams said. "But while investigating that complaint, we found (Erik) was being cared for by someone inappropriate." Williams would not discuss the baby sitter or how the initial complaint led DYFS workers to Erik's situation. After other arrangements were made for the care of Erik, Williams said, a DYFS worker closed the case in July 2005.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) Why not? Chicago-style pizza would be a must, in my opinion, especially with a 13-year-old. I'd suggest Home Run Inn on 31st. If I'm going on vacation I'm not having Pizza. Maybe you are, and maybe he will.. but I'm not, so I gave my suggestion.
