  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) That's awesome, is your company gonn a have a big sign out in the OF? I remember 2 years ago my dad's company did that on the scoreboard, pretty cool stuff. Not sure of the details. Just found out literally an hour ago.
  2. Just got the word that Bekins agent Berryman Transfer and Storage Co. out of Joliet has become the official movers of the Chicago White Sox!!! This is something that's been in the works for a few weeks now.. and I'm soooooo happy to have had the tip of my pinky finger in it. It's gonna be awesome to see our logo at the park!!
  3. QUOTE(diehard chisox 1427 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) I think it's funny how Ozzie is basically blaming the season on Carlos when all Carlos did was put up .305/31/99. The Sox would have not been in a situation like that if we had a 5th starter, or if Crede batted .275 or Valentin. Blaming the season on one play in one game by one player is ridiculous. By the way, I was very pissed that the sox did NOT retaliate. Torrie Hunters hit on Burke changed the momentum of the season for the Twins, however if we did hit one of their batters, was momentum coming back to us? Doubt it. Bill How is talking about ONE specific play blaming Carlos for the entire dismal season..??
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) Wait till you see the pictures Jas... you guys look hysterical back there..
  5. A couple things before I forget.. those that are worried about Carl.. don't. He is already in awesome shape. And his attitude is amazing. I can't tell you how many times he promised a .300 ba. I believe him. Hawk confirmed DJ was at a family wedding (which is what I had heard). Freddy got married 2 weeks ago and ironically was in Cancun the same time Jim and I were there. There was an issue with his papers going from Mexico to the US so he had to go back home first, thus not making it to the fest. Not a big deal, IMO. Willie still has a bit of a chip on his shoulders.. but he said he's looking forward to Rock working him. That's a positive sign, IMO, from his "I am the s***" attitude last year. Speaking of Rock.. he was hysterical.. and for some reason was the only person my 4 year old neice would pose for a picture with. She was scared crapless of Southpaw. One other thing.. the guys from the World Crossing board were sitting next to us Friday night.. great guys. Melton talked their ears off for a good hour or two.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) Well I will say this much. She did get us a hell of a fireworks show as predinner entertainment on Saturday Anything for you guys...
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) It had nothing to do with what you were wearing, they were wondering if the aliens that took over your body are good or evil LMAO!! I got several "hey.. nice comments in the Q&A" in the bar from many people I didn't even know. Most wondering what happened to the "real Steff". I have to say.. this fest was the best one of the 9 that I have attended. We met so many nice people.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) I don't recall anything else said about Maggs after Kenny gave his speech about Magglio. It pretty well closed the door on that topic. As it should have. Kenny did a great job in dealing with that. I'm glad I got those comments on record.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Someone needs to give Ed Farmer some fashion tips. A purple shirt, short pants, no socks, and loafers are not appropriate Chicago style I got several looks for my beach apparel as well. Sorry.. but I was sunburbed and anything heavier hurt.
  10. QUOTE(babybearhater @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) 2 things is anyone going to opening day, and is anyone tailgating??? does anyone need or have tickets for opening day??? Yes and yes. Already have tickets.
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) Me and Soxnbears are sittin here watchin the football game, with Brian (IlliniKrush) "sleeping" on the bed. LMAO.. the line of the weekend was "Steff killed Kenny" until he showed up at dinner to a round of applause. Capped off by an evening straight out of the "How to fit 7 people into a car made for 4" manual.. I think he recovered nicely.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) After this article??!?! Ha, ha, ha...
  13. Eh.. back to the real world today. Mexico was great.. but the weekend was awesome. Lots to share and some pictures to post but I have to make a dent in these 1,041 emails I got while gone.. first. Just want to back-up Jason and Mike in saying it was nice to see those of you I don't see or talk to on a regular basis. This weekend will definitely be on the lips of several for some time to come..
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) Kenny was awesome in his replies on Maggs. He has learned a lot in his 5 years on the job. 5 years ago he would have trashed Maggs. This year he made sure to remind Sox fans of Maggs on the southside. Was there more questions for him on Maggs on Sunday..? I think I was the only one that said anything about him on Saturday..
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) I thought I had heard Hawk congratulating DJ on his wife being pregnant last season. His absence may be as simple as that. She had it already. A girl.
  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) There has been a lot of rumors about Steve Stone taking a postition with the White Sox the last few days. I noticed that all Sox broadcasters will be at Soxfest, except for DJ. This can only fuel speculation. Maybe DJ is on vacation, maybe his wife is having a baby, I don't know, but maybe just maybe............................................................ He's attending a family wedding.
  17. QUOTE(BamaDoc @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) Ray was traded because we wouldn't meet his contract demands. That's complete and utter bulls***. Ray didn't have "contract demands". To reiterate Show.. there's smoke per his brother. Ray is unavaliable via phone at this time and I don't know if I'll get anything before I board the plane tomorrow.
  18. Bouncers charged with negligent homicide in Georgia student's death Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version NEW ORLEANS Three karaoke bar bouncers were formally charged with negligent homicide today, accused of suffocating a Georgia college student on the sidewalk outside their New Orleans night spot. 25-year-old Levon Jones died on New Year's Eve after scuffling with the bouncers outside Razzoo Bar and Patio on Bourbon Street. The coroner found two of the bouncers were responsible for Jones' death: one who held him in a headlock for 12 minutes and another who pushed down on his back. The third man held Jones' legs. 40-year-old Arthur Irons, 32-year-old Clay Montz, and 21-year-old Edward Matthew Taylor, surrendered to police last night and appeared before a magistrate judge today. They are free on on 20-thousand dollar bond. The men have a March 7 court date, when the District Attorney's office must confirm it will prosecute. Police but have not said what role each man played in the fight, which started after club workers refused to allow a friend of Jones to enter the club because his clothes did not meet the dress code. Jones' family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit claiming race was a factor in the fight. Jones was black and the bouncers are white. A lawyer for Razzoo has said the bouncers acted responsibly and would be cleared. Copyright 2004 Associated Press. All rights reserved. 19. Police: Woman Beaten For 11 Hours By Vacuum, Table Leg People Witness Beating Inside Home POSTED: 6:38 am EST January 5, 2005 UPDATED: 7:31 am EST January 6, 2005 TITUSVILLE, Fla. -- A 25-year-old Titusville man faces murder charges Wednesday after he allegedly beat his live-in girlfriend repeatedly for 10 to 11 hours with a vacuum, table leg and beer bottle in front of witnesses, according to a Local 6 News report. Police arrested Gregory McGruder, 25, Tuesday night after Titusville police responded to a disturbance call at an apartment in the 1200 block of Cheney Highway. Police found Amanda Joy Ratliff, 20, duct taped and severely beaten, police spokesman Warren Van Vuren said. She was transported to Parish Medical Center where she died. "It doesn't get any worse than this when it comes to domestic violence," Van Vuren said. "Our hearts go out to the family members of the deceased and we certainly hope we can help anyone else out there that may be in a situation like this." There were several witnesses inside the home during the beating, Local 6 News has learned. Police would not go into details as to why people inside the house did not stop the beating other than to say McGruder apparently threatened to kill them, Local 6 News reported. Ratliff and McGruder have been living together in the apartment since at least July 2004. McGruder is being held at the Brevard County Jail in Sharpes. 20. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) What I think people had a problem with Steff is that you said, 'Ben Davis will be the starting catcher for the 2005 White Sox', or something along those lines. Instead, if you post your information as what the current plans are without set-in-stone predictions, you will be covered. Until 3 weeks ago.. apparently, he was the starting catcher. I had no reason when I was told in July to believe otherwise, not did I when I repeated the same information a month ago. And who are these people who had a problem...
  21. The guide also gives advice on how to live unobtrusively in the United States, advising illegals not to beat their wives or go to loud parties because either action may attract the attention of police. Well thank God they were told... :rolly
  22. At last, Sox have a force behind plate Phil Rogers January 7, 2005 Dustin Hermanson won't throw a pitch for the White Sox for almost three months, yet he already has distinguished himself. Hermanson's scouting report helped talk general manager Ken Williams out of a really bad idea: Opening the season with Ben Davis and Jamie Burke as his two catchers. He switched to a really good idea: Signing A.J. Pierzynski, who immediately becomes the best two-way catcher the Sox have had since Ron Karkovice, in his good years. As recently as three weeks ago, when he attended the winter meetings, the White Sox general manager insisted he was going to stick with Davis as his No. 1 catcher because pitchers like working with him.
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Soooo, Steff...what was that about Ben being the starting catcher? YES YES YES! You are kidding me, right..? But in case you aren't.. I repeated what I was told. I don't work for the Sox and don't claim to know anything more than I am told. Apparently.. sharing that info - when it turs out to be incorrect - warrants a slap in the face. So be it. Not another peep of information will be posted from these fingers.
  24. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) Step up and offer AJ $2.3 also ... He'll take it. Pfffttt... YOU would have cost us an additional $50K.
  25. QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) Espn Reporting the same thing- One year 2.25. Good job Kenny. Guess Timo didn't stop us from signing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also he came at our price not his. Stupid dumbass Kenny.. what the hell was he thinking negotiating... :rolly
