  1. Yes, but his ML OPS would be closer to 800 than 1100 - and we already got Timo and Blum who could easily manage that. Oh wait.
  2. You know what? For a 5th starter, El Duke actually looked pretty good if he turns that routine DP (the sequence to A-Rod would have been different with 2 outs and runner at third, obviously). The only thing I would change about his Sunday's outing is using more fastballs - he was consistently blowing that 88-91 mph belt-high fastball with movement by A-Rod and Co., but that slider either missed a lot which got him into hitter's counts or it hung up there nicely.... Come to think of it, more change-ups would have been welcome, too. If El Duke can only give up 3 runs in that snake pit we know as Fenway in October back in '04 when he had NOTHING in terms of velocity or movement... I have a feeling he will suprise the hell out of us this upcoming postseason since his stuff, which he was missing against Texas among others in June, is pretty much back. Now the key is for Ozzie to keep on strict 80-90 pitch counts and pray that shoulder holds. Then trade him in the off-season. Which is dumbf*** for... I don't much trust Contreras, either. Buerhle-Garland-Garcia are gonna have to come through in October - OR WE GAWNE!
  3. If Giants pay some of his salary next year, would you be willing to settle for Ray-Ray as our DH/#2 hitter?
  4. 10 in loss column. Such pussies, damn.
  5. It's called: Playingdefensereachingbasegettingtimelyhitsoffqualitypitchinginbiggames-ball. Pitching help, too. As does an immoronic manager.
  6. Gio with an excellent outing; Valido two more steals. Phillips is one hitting some AA affiliate through 5. (no HR for Young ) Borchard and Gload taking over: each with a dinger and 2 walks.
  7. 2004 Red Sox are a disgrace. /Worst-kept secret in the MLB.
  8. I know this: There isn't a single Gold Glover on the 2005 White Sox. Rowand and (the PRE-herniated discs) Crede are the only ones who had a shot. Uribe might get one eventually, but for now he still experiences concentration lapses at odd times and is awful at going back on (non-routine) bloopers.
  9. Those who were alive and thriving in the 80's.... How does El Felix compare to Dwight Gooden in '85 stuff/command-wise? Roger Clemens? Pedro?
  10. The Definitive Indians/Twins Update: WHITE SOX WIN THE ALC BY A DOUBLE-DIGIT MARGIN! Seriously, away with the hang-wringing, chumps. We got it. Postseason? Different story, threadie.
  11. Who's got a sweeter swing, Allen or Sanchez? Thanks.
  12. Part of me _____ in anticipation. But part of me is, like... he's 21 effin' years old! His prime, both in terms of pitch selection and sheer power, will likely reside in the 25-33 range; even if he is "Ready" - a big IF regardless of his awesome-since-April-stint-in-AA - why start his FA clock a year earlier just so we can endure almost-obligatory 750-OPS-que "growing pains"? Our OF is set for 2006 as far as I am concerned. When Dye leaves, let the Young Era, um, do whatever it is eras do. .
  13. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good. Lord. :banghead (in response to peeps annointing Carillo the next Zambrano after... how many outings exactly?) .
  14. Yep, something along those lines. Close enough.
