  1. My only problem with these type of deals is yeah, you can pick the sections, but not the seats. Right?
  2. Am I the only one who's reminded of former Cub Moises Alou when I see Rios' batting stance?
  3. QUOTE (11and1 @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 01:04 AM) Throw Ozzie under a real bus, with KW driving and all the players on board. Rinse and repeat with Greg Walker. Spend whatever it takes to hire a no-BS manager who commands respect and demands maximum effort every day. (See the Bulls pre and post Thibodeau and the Blackhawks pre and post Quennville.) He doesn't need to be fun or interesting or a fan favorite, and he should be way too busy trying to win to spend time tweeting. Ozzie lost the team a while ago and it's time for the team to lose Ozzie. Sadly, I am finally at this point. I think Ozzie lost the team long ago. So yes, I would say: out he goes. Thanks for 2005, sincerely. But think about it: how many coaches/managers go five years without a playoff win and survive? Not sure who you replace him with but the Torre idea is fun to fantasize about.

I don't understand why we got rid of Thome only to replace him with a much higher-priced version of him. Although Thome didn't seem to strike out this much.
  5. I know we have this thead every year, but at this point I'm in. How long are we going to wait to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING, to shake things up? Or are we gonna wait until July and then say in September, oh well, if we hadn't had that awful start we wouldn't have lost the division?
  6. You guys really want to have a fire sale on April 23rd? We basically have the same record as Boston right now. Are they talking fire sale? Do you really think they won't be contending?
  7. You guys do realize, don't you, that when KW made his first run at Peavy he was not injured?
  8. I feel like I'm watching a tape loop for the third day in a row.
  9. If I were to take the glass half-full view, I would say: hey, at least we had the crappy part now instead of the thick of it (as long as we don't fall too far behind like last year). I'd also point out how teams like Boston and Minnesota have worse records than us right now--do you really think they won't be around come September? But yes first the woeful bullpen losses and now the 2010-style can't-score-a-run games. Tough. But it's early. I will say if we don't pull one out of this series and then go to Detroit and get stomped, then I'll start worrying. Losses to division opponents drive me nuts.
  10. QUOTE (Tannerfan @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 11:35 PM) My God you people need to relax. It's April 15th. Calm down +1
  11. What do you even do at this point? I can't recall having this bad a problem in recent history.
  12. OMG this is just a complete, utter meltdown.
  13. Oh, there's DP action coming, the way this is going...
  14. For those of us at work, what is Hawk saying now. Now that it's not "all good"?
  15. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) What were game threads like in 2005 when everything was so great? I find these a hell of lot more entertaining than all of those "we are amazing" comments. Oh you know, the same, even for the post-game threads. "THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER" would be maybe three pages long at most. If we blew a game though, you could count on 15+ pages. And of course the obligatory "Ozzie SUCKS!" comments. Just like, hey!....
  16. I'm as frustrated as anybody but to hand a pitcher bases loaded, one out and the RBI single is a bloop after he got two guys out... not going to pile on Thornton for this one.
  17. Good God man this is just brutal. Apparently the way to beat us is just wait for the bullpen.
  18. Hawk. Pfft. What if this guy hits a granny? Is it still awl good Hawk? PRESSURE...
  19. And here comes Thorton... one out, bases loaded. Last chance for him?
  20. Couldn't see what happened live because there's no replay obviously.
  21. That was a SWEET game and I'm glad I went. It was like a preview of the summer--it sure felt like summer, unlike Opening Day. Damn, Gavin Floyd! Wow. I can't believe the umps reversed that call, which was good, because that could have started a landslide inning. This team looked really good today, by all accounts.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) I would rather just win the f***ing game. I agree. A bat flip doesn't really get me all that worked up. Let's just play and win. Three out of four makes a bigger statement than a bean ball.
  23. I agree, Humber looked really nasty.
