  1. I think that's one my keeper Sox moments, the fans giving him a curtain call for getting one and Paulie waiting outside the box for him to come out.
  2. I was there! Humber didn't have his best stuff but he battled! Way to go Thorton!
  3. FWIW are we really above questioning KW's decision-making over the past few years? Rios was worth the money? How about the Manny Ramirez Non-Experience? Swisher? Ken Griffey Jr.? Some would argue Peavy (I'm not one of them). My sports-geek co-worker says that Dunn is an experiment and that experiment has failed. Moving an NL guy to the AL and a position player to DH. Whiff, and whiff. No pun intended. He believes the Sox should try and unload Dunn to an NL team for something in return. Although I don't know who would want him right now. And why is KW once again airing this out in the press?
  4. My two cents: the booing him is pointless. What does that accomplish? You think HE does not know fans are unhappy? Do we really think he's happy hitting .173 and doesn't care? If he was some lazy ass or clubhouse cancer like Milton Bradley, I'd boo away. But he's not. He seemed genuinely excited to be coming here.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) Right, so why even feel the need to pay some lip service to the media. He's here and we all know why. I love Oz, but it's time. I do too, and I agree. Is it just me or does Oz seem totally spent? Like he needs a new start--somewhere else? I will always thank him for 2005 but things since then have just been lame. He seems out of answers, and that's not a good sign. I think we need a reboot.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) I don't care much one way or the other anymore about Peavy, but at least he wants to win. Same with Pierre and AJ. I do wish we'd see a little more of this same sense of pride out of Rios, Dunn and Teahen. They're all getting paid multi-millions of dollars to be professionals, and yet they don't SEEM to care all that much about not being in shape or being prepared for the season. Same thing with Jenks the last couple of seasons with the Sox. At least Peavy and Jenks don't "shrink" from the big moment and trying to get it done. I think you left out Paulie. I think he wants to win too. But I agree. And Vizquel always seems like he's giving 100%. I think you're onto something. On paper that 2005 team shouldn't have worked (save for the pitching) but they played well together. Which, in a team sport, is more important than individual talent, right?
  7. Just saw NBC5 and while Kenny said the Sox haven't earned the fans patronage thus far this season, he apparently has no changes in mind. The anchor even said that he told her he has one of the best managers/coaching staffs around. So apparently nobody's on the hot seat (contrary to media reports of late) or KW is one of the best liars around. Although I can't quite figure out what his play is here; unless it's that he feels his wagon is inextricably hitched to the success of Ozzie & Co.
  8. So we split with... Toronto but then sweep the Red Sox. I never get this team, LOL.
  9. Must be somebody just speculating. LOL. God that would be funny.
  10. Is anybody else hearing the Ryne Sandberg rumor?
  11. Agree with you on Pods. For THIS?
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) Fire Everyone from KW on down. The organization as a whole has had zero direction, zero character, and zero identity. I asked my baseball stat-geek co-worker about this, after last night, I said what would you do? He said both KW AND Ozzie. And you might as well send the others with them but I don't know who you put in their place. This is just BRUTAL.
  13. I just don't get this. On paper, this team seemed to be a contender. And the starting pitching has been solid. But here we have a team where: -Pierre can't steal -Beckham can't hit -Morel can't field (why the hell isn't Vizquel starting at third?) -Dunn can't hit to save his life -Rios can't hit and our star player has been... Lillibridge?! It is just bizarre.
  14. Sorry, that's all you got? That story from back in the Giants days? Which we've all already heard? Again, I'm hearing very few specifics, just insinuations and gossip.
  15. Just another reason to love Buehrle. He virtually always gives us a chance.
  16. Just how is he a jerk and a bully? I hear a lot of accusations, but very, very little details or specifics.
  17. I was at the game today and actually, while it was Groundhog Day for the first half, they did come back and threaten late. Dunn FINALLY hit something. Lillibridge homered (!?!?! our Sox hero?) and it did seem from the UD behind home plate that Rios got screwed on that call. So this one didn't bother me as much. But DAMN I cannot remember such a dismal start in recent history. One bright side: Santos is obviously the closer.
  18. I was chastising people for panicking two weeks ago, but this is truly awful. Like 2007 awful. And awful across the board: pitching, defense, hitting. So yeah I'm concerned, in that you can't win a season first half but you certainly can dig too much of a hole to ever get out of. Is it too early to say that corpseball has returned?
  19. My God what has happened? This is like watching 2007 every day.
  20. The Guillen family really, really needs to stay away from social media.
  21. The one thing I am tired of is our starters pitching great games but then getting the loss because we can't score anything. Danks has totally gotten shafted so far.
  22. Let's not forget that Floyd held the Yanks to two runs, as well. That's two amazing pitching performances in a row against the Yankees. That's some reason for optimism. I think.
  23. I'm sure people will appreciate it. Stubhub, I'm finding, rules when trying to find Sox tix. LOVE how you can pick the sections/seats and it shows you the pricing beforehand.
