Peavy looks to get at least one more start
LVSoxFan replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not ready to give up on Peavy yet. -
No kidding. I missed those games--as I tend to do when they're West coast. Either way, I think the only thing that is going to jolt JR into action is the people who DO actually hold management accountable: the fans. Their attendance has been crap this year and I shudder to think what it's going to be like for the rest of the month. Another thing: this has been one of the more unlikeable teams that I can remember. Except for some of our vets and go-to guys like Lilly--who's to like? Dunn? Rios? Morel? Probably the most pleasant surprise has been Flowers, but he really didn't get to play until, what, weeks ago? It's going to be scary empty at the Cell for the rest of this month.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) I take exception that Walker thinks he is a hitting coach.............he sucks and should of been gone 3 years ago. People here have been, yes, screaming for Walker's head for at least that long now--the fact that he's remained is astounding, but not surprising in light of the talk that his relationship with JR saves him. But Jesus, when you've got the announcers for national sports networks openly criticizing our players' hitting mechanics during the TELECAST, how much more obvious could it be that a new hitting coach should be the LEAST of our changes. That, and the fact that Beckham was a better hitter when he got here than he is now. That's alarming. The fact that they didn't fire Walker months ago--as some sort of a jolt to this staggering franchise--set the table for where we are now. Nobody is held accountable for anything. Moving up the chain, Cubs GM Hendry was let go, despite having taken them to the playoffs twice, for his bad contracts: Fukodome, Soriano, Zambrano. Well here you have KW with his Dunn, Rios and Peavy contracts--the former two which have screwed us for at least a couple of years--so why does he not just resign?

And that, my friends, is a White Sox season
LVSoxFan replied to Jordan4life_2007's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jesus man, I left for a wedding at 5P and we were up 8-1. An hour later at the wedding somebody shows me the score: 9-8. WTF? I said that losing Friday--that was our season right there. I was wrong. This plastering is absolutely the end of us. To blow a lead that big, in a series that crucial, in that way is absolutely the nail in the coffin. The only irony--and a sad irony, considering how FUBAR this team is--is that it was the pitching/defense that failed this time, and not our lack of scoring. Once again we find ourselves watching a team that never seems to pull it all together at once: when the pitching's good, the offense fails. When the offense is on, the pitching fails. Earlier, when the starters were good, the bullpen would meltdown (remember Thornton-as-closer? Eek!). Now we have all the rebuild talk, but the sad reality is that any rebuild will still include Dunn in the lineup along with Rios. And will probably mean the exit of Buehrle, Thorton, Danks... These are dark days. You can't enjoy the present and you don't look forward to the future. Especially if KW remains, as he's promised us the last three years at least that THIS is gonna be the team to do it. -
I've always held my fire when it comes to Ozzie's managing decisions in-game, but even I cannot fathom what in the hell he was thinking by batting Dunn for Lilly in what was a crucial game--a game we could have won. Lilly is the anti-Dunn--you know you absolutely have a chance with that guy at bat or in the field, whereas with Dunn you're pretty much guaranteed a strikeout. Oh, and then there's the Rios thing. It's almost like he was trying to tank the game. And when it gets to that kind of bizarreness--yes, I'd say it's time for him to go. And please take KW out the door, too. Look: thank you forever for 2005. It's the best gift any Sox fan could ever dream of. But that's long past, and I'm tired of six years of so-so teams. Not horrible enough to be entertaining bad, but yet not good enough to ever go deep into the post-season.

Exec's believe both Oz and Kenny could be gone

Out of curiosity, why does everyone hate LaRussa so much? -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 10:14 AM) Let's be honest here, this is an extraordinarily difficult team to manage because of the awful performances of three of the four highest paid players. Sorry I have to agree. Which is not to defend Ozzie for the sake of it. But let's face it: Dunn has been a virtual automatic out all season. That's GOT to take a toll psychologically on the rest of the club. Then you've got Rio stinking it up and Beckham underperforming. If I had to to do an early autopsy on the season, I'd say what killed us was: 1) Dunn/Rios being a black hole (and nobody stepping in for them--although they're supposed to be our "stars") 2) Absolute inability to hit with RISP 3) Inability to win at home Yep, that about sums it up for me right there.
-
That was the best win I've been to in probably two years. Total domination. Hats off to EVERYBODY, including Rios. And Lillibridge? Love that guy. Well done, boys.

QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 11:20 AM) Mark is the only player we have had that makes me smile just to see him ÷1
-
Wow look at the Cubs: making changes. We can only dream what that's like.
-
Yup. I think AJ even said in the 2005 DVD that the Boston inning was probably the greatest baseball inning ever pitched or something like that.
-
I was being somewhat facetious but yeah: short of a WS, really? We want the same team, the same organization back, in-tact, next year? Right now even though we're flying among the pigeons in the Comedy Central we are STILL only a .500 ballclub. Even IF we win the division does anybody have any faith we'll go very far? Plus, we're an NL team right now. How? In that league you've got the pitcher batting, which is usually an automatic out for the most part. Instead of a pitcher, we have Dunn filling that role. Unless somebody here thinks he's going to miraculously find himself after four months of not doing that.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) I've been saying that for a long time. I'm glad others feel the same way. Short of a World Series title I'm with you on this one. Hell even if they DID win the WS we know what the chances of a repeat are so let's finally clean house.

QUOTE (The Baconator @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 08:32 AM) Seriously. That Yankees stadium did feel like a road series with all of their fans in their. Embarrassing. Same with the Red Sox series.
-
It's going to take more than one good series after a piss-poor year for me to get back on the good times train. Plus, while Rios may have a "new" approach to hitting where he could turn the corner (not sure I want to hold my breath), Dunn is still Dunn. But hey: anything is possible. I just will take a pass on the kool aid right now. OHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHH.
-
Wow after a crummy homestand I was expecting the worst. A sweep? Get out! I'll take it. Peavy was in fine form, and we actually scored more than two runs! Wow. THIS is the team I thought we had at the beginning of the season. Oh well, maybe there's still hope...
-
Map Room is awesome!
-
Pretty good Ed, but actually I find that more fitting for Rios' fielding highlight reel. Unless you want to go "All In", and take it even further.
-
LOL at the tag. Well done in making him issue a retraction, Soxtalk brothers!
-
Noooooooooooooooo!
-
Yes. At the very least, it could be Adam Dunn's at-bat intro song but hey, why not go "all in" and make it an organizational thing, that cues up after the opening montage before the game. Sure, "Thunderstruck" is awesome but it's hardly appropriate or accurate, now, is it? Other suggestions are welcome.
-
God, the Liriano no-hitter; I forgot about that. I think that was probably the first red flag that all is not as it seems with our "All-In" Sox. To the OP: I can't laugh at this, although I don't mind people who want to view it as comedy. If I want fun bad that's what the Cubs are for but seriously, at this point, they've at least totally sucked all year. There were no expectations. We, on the other hand, were lead to believe that the Comedy Central would be a given with this lineup and at this point I wouldn't be surprised if we end up in the cellar. Nothing like spending $127MM to suck.
-
I'm glad that people responded because I was thinking WTF? 1) I've NEVER detected a racist vibe here 2) If we dedicate the time to be at Soxtalk, we're knowledgeable enough to know that Guillen is VENEZUELAN, not Mexican 3) Death threats? Seriously? Why oh why could he not have smeared the other Sox site.... zing! kidding. KIDDING.

Sox vs. Yanks, 08/03, 7:10 PM, ESPN, CSN

This is absolutely brutal. I haven't seen something like this since the infamous double shelling the Twins gave us on Friday, July 6 2007. 20-14 and then 12-0 in a doubleheader. Why do I remember? I was at both games, and have the sports page from the next day framed. We are done. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) embarrassing doesn't even begin to describe how it feels to watch my beloved white sox +1 Do we agree that this is worse than 2007 now? At least that team you knew sucked from wire to wire.
