Sox agree to 1 year deals with Danks, TCQ, and Pena
LVSoxFan replied to justBLAZE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Er, I'd want to hold on to Danks as long as possible, but maybe I'm missing something. -
I agree. Quentin had that one good year but he's the one guy I wouldn't be sorry to see go at this point.

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/3346130-419...ll-beckham.html Pretty nice to hear that they're chomping at the bit to get the season going already, the enthusiasm. And while it's far too early to get hopes up, I like that attitude. There also seems to be a newfound expectation to win (based on other comments in other articles). Granted, KW says that every year but this year everybody on the team seem pretty serious about winning the Central at the very least. I also love the fact that this group of guys goes down there on their own dime to put in the extra work.

I'm gonna go with Wise's catch considering what was at stake and I'm biased because I was there. In fact, we were so many rows up in 161 you couldn't see the catch, just everybody screaming. Then you saw him trotting out and Pods hugging him and we knew. Next they put it on the Jumbotron and everyone went nuts, again. Truly a special day. Next I'd say it's a tie between the Iguchi and Buehrle plays. Although Uribe going into the stands in Houston for the WS has got be up there, considering what was at stake there, too.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) Ohman is a f***ing gas can. You will all learn to hate him. LOL. Point taken. Overall, I'm pretty happy with what we've got. Peavy is the big question mark. Not that he's not awesome--just: is he going to be able to return to form? If he does--look out.

If Oney doesn't STFU I guarantee you this will be Ozzie's last season, if he even makes it all the way through. Just like Thornton correctly pointed out that you don't air clubhouse or personal stuff on the Internet for retaliation, I find it amazing that within the Guillen family this bonehead is not sat down and told to S.T.F.U. and NOW about all things White Sox. Obviously Bobby was bitter and he shoudn't have made the comment about managing the bullpen (Really, Bobby? Because Ozzie showed nothing but faith in you), but that was no excuse for Oney to go nuclear. Online, to boot. He's not a player, he's not anything but the son of the manager. His opinion is worthless. Except to destabilize the organization, which he has done before. The only thing he's going to accomplish is getting his dad fired. And nobody's going to blame KW when that happens.
-
^This. I'm not an Ozzie-hater but for the life of me I cannot understand why he has not told Oney to STFU, for good.
-
Is Buehrle not like a one-man highlight reel for the Sox? I don't know if anybody remembers, but I think in 06/07, Iguchi had an either Opening Day/early season throwout to first that was absurd. But this play tops even that. I also love that Paulie had the quick thinking to bare-hand it with his non-glove hand.

I'm more than done with this twit. Oney is an embarrassment, a moron. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by going public with his "stories" about Jenks and defending... daddy. And I'm also more than sick of people dissing Bobby Jenks--we would not have won the WS in 2005 if it were not for that guy. He gave us years of quality pitching--Jesus H. F***ing Christ... he has one bad year and the knives come out. That's Cub fan s***. As for people defending Oney because he's defending daddy--whatever. Oney is a f**ing moron and a liability. If you want to have the first half soap opera of 2010 all over again in 2011, even with our dream team in place, just keep making excuses for Oney. Because that is exactly what is going to happen. He's not a player, a manager or somebody with any kind of worthwhile perspective. He's a loser. A parasite. The sooner we don't have to hear from him, the better.
-
Oney needs to STFU, now. Unless you want another soap opera like this year between KW/Ozzie. I don't know why Ozzie hasn't put a muzzle on that idiot yet.

I don't know how anybody would consider JFP a dirtbag. I met him at the volunteer event last September--what a nice guy.

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnerId=rss_cws Yup, can't argue with that. Congrats to Mark, that was unforgettable.

ANYWAY, I wish Bobby nothing but the best. He was a World Series hero and did some incredible stuff after that, too. Hopefully the new digs will open up a second chapter in his career, all good.

QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 12:23 PM) The pressure of wearing a number once worn by Brian Anderson will be immense LMAO! Why did you have to remind us of that guy! I had forgotten him.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) That line made me smile. Me too! I was reading this on the bus coming to work and man if that isn't the biggest compliment ever...

Aha I see. For some reason I thought Jackson was a one year rental.
-
Wow I didn't hear that. So Jackson's in, Freddy gone? I thought we dumped Jackson.
-
Wait we let Freddy walk? Who's taking his spot? I thought our five were: -Peavey -Buehrle -Danks -Floyd -Garcia Did I miss something?
-
:headbang LOVE IT. I would love to see finally a Sox icon retire as a White Sock. Plus, he's a hell of a first baseman. JESSSSSSSSSSS!
-
Just a good guy all-around and my first game ever was the Cubs (before I converted) and I will always remember him and the other Cubs from that mid-70s era. RIP.

Not sure if this has already been posted but this site's claiming it's all but a done deal: http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...-adam-dunn.html

Wow with a .248 batting average, to boot. Well, good for him. I always loved him as a fielder but his batting drove me crazy. He's having a hell of a post-Sox career though.

Yankees to offer 3 years $45 million to Jeter
LVSoxFan replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
Sorry but I like Jeter and think he's great for baseball. I hope he takes the deal and retires a Yankee. I don't want to see him do a Frank Thomas and end up in some alien uniform to finish out his career. That offer does seem awfully generous. Wonder why he wants more years than that. I mean, when retired, do you think that man will sit more than a week before being hired as on-air talent by FOX or somebody? -
I can see Hamilton winning, but FIFTH? C'mon!

This. And keep the classic sign on the front of the park for the new one. Sounds like a good plan.
