  1. Sorry but the OP has some truth here. I like to b****, too, when we blow it but my God--this is just over-the-cliff.
  2. Wow. A thread cheering about us losing a crucial game because it's more important to rant about how much you hate Ozzie than it is to support your team. You're a "fan," are you? No thanks. Let's all pitch in and buy you a Twins jersey so you can celebrate your victory. I didn't realize that you're only a Sox fan when you like the manager. Disgusting.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) Tired?! How the hell are we tired? We have a rotating DH situation that gives guys more rest than we've seen in recent years? They sure looked tired yesterday. Even Ozzie said there was no energy.
  4. Yeah I don't buy the "lack of a real DH" argument either. I think we're in the "dog days," and people are tired. The trick is to not fall far enough back that you can't recover. We're going to find out this week what this team "really" is. I also tire of the Twins worship, too. Yes, they're always good and they're always at our heels, but as people point out, they never go anywhere in the playoffs. There's no reason that we shouldn't go toe-to-toe with them, unless people really do believe that they are, and always have been, a better team.
  5. Wow that is pretty wild. Like, literally, night and day.
  6. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 07:41 PM) Do fans at Wrigley do the wave? The crowds at the Cell have been downright embarrassing. It's like when the stadium gets more than 30,000 fans, they don't know how to handle it, they get all giddy and start the wave.. Then there's the fights in the UD.. But what's bugging me the most is how lame the crowds have been. The fans are so f***ing lethargic. It looks like half the crowd are zombies. Whenever I happen to catch a Cubs game on tv, I notice how those fans are alive. Whenever there's a big pitch, the entire crowd rises to their feet in unison.. within 2 seconds. I've never seen that at the Cell. It takes 45 seconds for half the crowd to stand up. I know we rip on Cubs fans for acting like every game is a World Series game, but that's better than looking like a casual family softball game. I just wish every game was like that blackout game. The White Sox deserve more crowds like that! WTH are you talking about?!?! I was just there Sunday and the crowd was hardly "lethargic."
  7. QUOTE (Tannerfan @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) I agree with Ozzie, and would suggest the movie "Sugar" to anyone who wants to get an idea of what it's like for these young Latinos to come to the U.S. to play baseball. The movie is fiction, not a documentary, but is truly reality based and made by people who did a lot of research, and know the world they depicted. Damn! You beat me to it. It was a real eye-opener, "Sugar." That said, not sure what Ozzie means by comparing Japanese to them. Um, maybe because there's so many Spanish-speaking players around you don't need to hire a translator? That was my first thought.
  8. Geez, who's your jersey guy where you get real ones for $35?
  9. But it's NOT the same thing, isn't that the point?
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:13 PM) Which is my point. I guess it's annoying b/c I used to manage a sports store. I own the white authentic Alexei and the black authentic Beckham, and now people at the Cell have these piece of garbage jerseys. Like I said, they claim their authentic, "I mean look, their stitched!" Catch my drift? BTW- I'm not ragging on what people can or can't afford, but if you can pay $60 for a "sweet" jersey then what they paid for a ticket plus gas to get to the game plus parking, I'm sure they can just pay another $40 for the official replica jersey. Dude I think I saw these at the park yesterday? They say "authentic" but they're clearly not because the lettering/number almost are kind of puffy? WTF? Why do they get to call them authentic then?
  11. Aye. Oh well, at least I know mine are real.
  12. So essentially they're fakes, being passed off as "authentics"?
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:30 AM) The wave does indeed suck. You know what else sucks? All the $60 "authentics" that people now have. First it was football, then hockey, now their invading baseball stadiums nationally. Disgusting. Just buy the replica for $100. Hmmm. ?!? What's a $60 "authentic"? Seeing that I own all authentics, they range in price from $200-$300 (for the Cooperstown ones). How could there possibly be a $60 "authentic"?
  14. Good point. I did have UD tix once and we sat at the picnic tables and it was awesome.
  15. I'm not sure what he brings except a more expensive version of Jim Thome.
  16. The more I think about this the more I think.... please, no, please, no... no Dunn trade.
  17. The center field fan deck is open to everyone unless somebody's rented it for an event. It's okay--kinda far away though. UD is fine if you're somewhat behind home plate and in the lower rows. Whoever said the hot dogs from the carts on the concourse were better was spot-on; I never liked dogs at the Cell until these guys showed up. That said, the best thing there is the POLISH. And don't go to a ballgame and eat pizza. I agree, just walk around the concourse. Showing them the Bullpen Bar before the game is cool too.
  18. Hmm sounds kind of lame. As one of those el guys who would be the target of something like this, sounds like it's missing the mark. I'd just go to the Bullpen in that case. Especially for those prices. I was excited to check out the new Cork & Kerry but disappointed at how tiny it was and WTF--no air conditioning? At least on the day I was there. No thanks. There's a lot of talk about turning the area into a Wrigleyville--IMO it will never happen. If you cross over the expressway and just under the tracks their is a HUGE empty lot there--perfect for bars and restaurants, location-wise. However, you have to remember that the bars around Wrigley have a huge population that attends them year-round. Sure, some aren't half as busy or even a quarter, but they do have business. I highly doubt the area around the Cell has enough local business to keep taverns afloat all year.
  19. Yeah you have to give credit to the 2005 team. People forget what a cannon of an arm Uribe had--he made throws off-balance or deep into the grass that were just SICK (like Alexei's last night). Lest we forget he made the final two outs in the World Series, in spectacular fashion. But yeah, this team is looking awesome. Ramirez seems to be getting better by the day....
  20. I know this is low-hanging fruit, but just yesterday our season was OVER! and that loss to Minnesota was going to be the END of us, dammit! So much for that idea.
  21. Oh for God's sakes, we have one horrible loss, one lost series after going 25-5 and everybody's ready to jump off the ledge? Jesus man: nut up already.
  22. I was following this on my Blackberry and I can't tell you what a kick it was to see the Sox way down, then one run closer, than one more, then tied, then WIN! This season is just rockin' right now!
  23. Since we're on the topic, okay, so thumbs down on Lilly. Are we really confident that Hudson can carry us the second half? Or do we need hired help? As the dude points out in the article... with only four strong starters (and Freddy allegedly weakens during second halves), say hello to 2004.
  24. I thought that was hilarious when Lilly did that FWIW.
  25. So you really think he'd get hammered at The Cell? Okay, well just though I'd throw it out there. Now bringing ZAMBRANO here (also a rumor, but a sleight one), now THAT makes me cringe.
