QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 29, 2006 -> 02:43 AM) Heh. Beane wouldn't pony up. Beane already gave him a contract offer IIRC, two years too. I don't know whether or not it was guaranteed money though.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) 7?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you f'n kidding me????????????? Holy $@%@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) Why the hell would the Royals trade DeJesus? He's one of the few bright spots they have on offense and defense as well. They're not going to hurt their team just to help the Sox. Squared.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 01:29 AM) Hmm ok. Well Cora literally cost us at least a run a game the last 3 months of this year, so I'll stand by what I said. But interesting point. Prove it.

This is good news, and I don't even hate Cora as a third base coach. I just like the fact that Razor is on the staff now

QUOTE(hi8is @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 11:56 AM) we finished in third place... That says more about how good Detroit and Minnesota were this year. We still won 90 games, which isn't something that happens for teams every day.

I noticed Quadrophiliac on Zappa.com awhile ago, and have been meaning to pick it up, but just haven't been motivated enough to look specifically for it. That, plus I haven't seen it when lightly browsing at some CD stores, and yea, I'm right there with you on the robbing a bank idea. I really need to get more of this stuff in CD form, rather than just having 1169 Zappa songs on my computer (according to iTunes). My Zappa collection on CD makes me shamed, but then I realize that I'm a poor college student. One day though, it will be large

Well, I "have" the Sleep Dirt album (along with nearly every other album) on my computer, but I haven't listened to it much. There's just so much of it that I haven't been able to get to all of his albums See, once I get rich, I'll be purchasing this. but until then, I have that collection on my computer with a small amount in actual CD form (I'm working on making it grow ). And yea, once Terry Bozzio came out, the songs were "his" (I'm so Cute, Punky's Whips, etc.). However, Napoleon was out for most of the concert (he went off to the side for a few tracks, those without vocals or a sax part for him), so he was a more "central" role than TB. Also, there are some recordings (from what I can see) on Zappateers' ZPZ forum, but you have to be registered to see the page I just linked to, and it doesn't look like there are any recordings from this leg of the tour yet. Still, Zappateers has a lot of bootleg recordings from various concerts from when Zappa was alive and touring. Quality isn't that great on most (as expected), but still fun to listen to some of them.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) I'm extremely jealous, Felix, but really excited that you got to take in the show and that it was something special. So, how about a set list for those of us unable to catch the tour? Music is the Best I can't give you a perfect set list yet (can't seem to find one), but there is an attempt at one posted here along with some reviews of the show. There is a list for tonights show in Ohio which looks incredibly similar here, and setlists/reviews of every other show so far here. Overall, it was fantastic. My favorite few songs of the night were "I'm the Slime", "Black Napkins" and "The Black Page" (which was done in a timeline fashion, showing the early parts of the song in development with Bozzio working on the drumline, then introducing the melody with Steve Vai coming out). Quite possibly my favorite was the finale, a song that I -- shamefully -- didn't know the name of until DZ mentioned it, but had heard before a few times, "Regyptian Strut". Dweezil hit the nail on the head before starting the song up, saying that its a lesser known song of FZ's but one that best 'describes' his musical style. I've listened to it a handful of times since, and I must say, I agree. It's quickly become one of my favorites, which now leads me to thinking there are so many of his songs that I am not familiar with, and am missing out on. I've got a lot of work to do Also, Dweezil REALLY impressed me. I admit, I didn't think he was that great of a guitar player before seeing the show (I'd listened to "Automatic"), but he really surprised me. He has a stage prescene up there with the best of them, and had some incredible solos throughout the show, but specifically in "The Torture Never Stops". It's amazing to see him play his fathers music with such ease, despite how incredibly difficult some of those songs are to transcribe.

QUOTE(fullcollapse @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) to finish the other half of the rules... any player selected in the rule v draft must be on the major league roster the entire year, or be offered back at half the cost. Or disabled list, which, IIRC, Castro was on for some of this year.

Best show of my life, easily worth double what I paid for. They duplicated Zappa's sound, and Steve Vai, Terry Bozzio, and Napoleon Murphy Brock have yet to lose a step. Amazing show, and I'll definitely be going again if they ever come anywhere near me again Also, I really hope that they release a CD/DVD for this set of concerts. I'm thinking that they will, which would be incredible.

The worse part is, I've seen this before on a different site It seriously gave me pains watching the first time.

QUOTE(BurlyMan56 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) Did you guys get your pin sets? My order sheet said there on back order.... I know mine is on backorder, but I haven't gotten the DVDs yet either.

This is strange. I order mine basically at the same time I posted this, and yet I still don't have them. Other people order after reading the thread, and they already have theirs. *sigh*

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 03:39 AM) So if Uribe ain't going to be our SS next season (and that's a definite possibility, just look at what happened to Urbina), it's time to look at alternatives in the trade and FA market. First the FA's; Alex Gonzalez - .255/.299/.397 Alex Cora - .238/.312/.298 Julio Lugo - .278/.341/.421 Craig Counsell - .255/.327/.347 And the trade market; Jimmy Rollins - .277/.334/.478 Omar Vizquel - .295/.361/.389 Alex Rodriguez - .290/.392/.523 Cristian Guzman - Didn't play this season (.219/.260/.314 in 05) Clint Barmes - .220/.264/.335 Erick Aybar - .250/.250/.325 (only 40 AB's) Maicer Izturis - .293/.365/.412 You probably acquire a guy like Guzman for basically nothing considering he's got 4M for 2 seasons left on his deal and he doesn't fit into the Nats plans. The Sox could bank on trading for a guy whose value is down like Barmes or Guzman who are being replaced by others and hope they could contribute to the numbers that they have reached before. If there was a way to acquire Izturis, that would be a good way to go, but I don't think the Angels are going to be giving him up somehow. Even the thought of Guzman starting for the Sox makes me sick. I'd much rather see any other player on that list instead of Guzman..

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) Uribe didn't go to college. He's got some eligibility left... Who signs him first, Miami football or Iowa basketball? This is quite possibly the post of the year.. or at least, one of my favorites. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) Yep. You are incredibly hilarious, especially if you believe what you say.

I'm going to be a priest, assuming I find the correct place to purchase the costume.

Wasn't this known before the season started? I mean, isn't that why he went to the bench this year rather than stay at first?

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) HAD to bump this thread. Gotta love the Culpepper and Grossman comments. I was looking for this thread yesterday, couldn't find it. Nice find QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) I don't like Culpepper, never have, and doubt he'll do well in Miami (but as I said, I don't like him). swish -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 10, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Wow, great find. I didnt buy them either, so I think now is the time. I didn't find them, a friend of mine did, but still, I'm amazed

A&E's fall classic sale includes this lovely, lovely DVD set for a mere $25.. $45 off from the list price of $70. I didn't buy it when it first came out because of the bloated price, but I'm about to as we speak, and I suggest that you do the same. http://store.aetv.com/html/product/index.j...=&subcatid=

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 09:36 PM) actually, the one knock on Ryan Zimmerman is his putrid defense. He had issues in his only minor league season as well as issues this year in the majors. he's a loooong way from the gold glove. just look at his .965 fielding percentage this season, compare that to .978... Dude, OMG!!!! Derek Jeter is just as good as Ozzie Smith at defense, just look at their fielding percentages!!!! OMG!
