I just came in here to see the new posts and realized that I posted Friday night. I don't remember that at all..

Sounds like Al Jefferson got arrested for drunk driving last night after getting blown out by the Blazers at home. I was at the game and it was ugly, but that's no excuse to get behind the wheel while drunk. I would hope players on the Wolves would know better than to be that stupid, given the past.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 10:50 PM) So I usually keep up with this thread as much as I can, specifically about sports games, but I still have a question. I don't use the online play, or play a ton of actual games on it, I just love the general manager, franchise type stuff. Is there any reason I should think about getting MLB2k10 this season instead of the Show? I saw that MLB2K10 has compensation picks in the amateur draft now, can't remember if the Show had that last year or this year. OOTP11 is being released very soon. Although there are many bugs in the previous versions, it's still far and away the best baseball sim around and there's a huge online community for online leagues. I've been playing leagues for ~5 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully 2k10 is a good game. I'd like to get a good baseball game for the 360, but I'm not optimistic. The previews look good, but I'm definitely going to wait to see what people think of it. Their previous versions just haven't given me any faith.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 10:52 AM) The Crazies at 72% on Rotten Tomatoes. I'm definitely seeing it soon. It looks awesome.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) I will never give the Gold Glove award any credence ever again. How the hell does that happen? That he does not win one? Pathetic!!!!! It's pretty bad, that's for sure. Almost as bad as Rafael Palmeiro winning a gold glove at 1B despite starting 151 games at DH. Nice to see the Mariners getting more press. I've been on their bandwagon since last year, and it's nice to see them get some press for the team they've put together. Jack Z is awesome.

Someone seriously said that the WNBA isn't a sport?

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 12:17 PM) Hummel torn ACL, confirmed by about every sports writer and his mother too. My friends and I predicted that on the spot. That's exactly what the injury looked like, which is pretty bad news for Hummel and Purdue. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) Huge shot by Grant. Minny will have a chance to win it though. This really turned into a great game. Great game, but we should have won that. Iverson is a moron, and Joseph had a great look at the end to win it and it just didn't fall. Frustrating loss, but it basically sums up how this season has gone. -

Huge game for the Gophers against Purdue tonight. If we win, we've got a chance at somehow sneaking into the tournament (along with a win at Illinois this weekend). If we lose, we can basically kiss those hopes good-bye unless we pull off a miracle in the Big Ten Tournament. It seems unlikely that we'll be able to pull this off, but at least this game is in Minneapolis. Hopefully the team can feed off the energy in the Barn and pull off an upset. Also, Tubby Smith reprimanded the student section for "f*** the Badgers" and "f*** Bo Ryan" chants in the Wisconsin game. Fun fun fun. -

It seems like everyone agrees that Canada is the most talented team. I would also hope that everyone agrees that hockey started in Canada. So again, I've got to ask, what's wrong with that commercial? -
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) I hope Darko can succeed with the Wolves. By the way, Utah came back from 25 down with 19 minutes left in the game to win in overtime. Go Jazz! Hopefully they can make some noise this postseason, it's been nice to see them start playing well lately.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) Good call Canadians. This looks dumb today, and will look even dumber when Russia beats you in the quarterfinals for the 2nd straight Olympics and you don't medal for the 2nd straight Olympics. What's so bad about this commercial? -

QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 06:27 PM) Kind of reminds me of the 68" White Sox. They had a team era (INCLUDING THE BULLPEN) of 2.53. Still didn't win the pennant because of the lineup. Don't get me wrong, if everyone does what they are supposed to....especially Rios, Quentin, Jones, it will without a doubt add some punch to our lineup. So.....granted....we do have a chance to do something special this year.............but all of the pieces do have to fall in place. That team actually had a 2.75 ERA, which ranked fourth in the AL. The entire AL had an ERA of 2.98, so while the number looks really, really impressive by today's standards, it wasn't too ridiculous that season. EDIT: On the other hand, the '67 Sox had an AL best 2.45 ERA (lgERA was 3.23) while scoring only 3.28 runs (league average was 3.7) per game. They finished fourth in the AL. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) This wasn't Miracle on Ice 2. It also wasn't one of the best hockey games ever played (though it had some of the best talent ever). Some of the stuff I've seen and heard is way over the top. It's also not THAT big of an upset. It helped a ton because we get a bye and a 1 seed. But if we don't go on to medal, it means relatively nothing. Especially if Canada ends up winning it or medaling. It's all about what lies ahead now. Maybe this is the game that gives them the confidence to win the whole thing. We'll see how it shakes out. It's nice to see someone thinking and not just reacting. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) If John Shuster wasn't such a suckfest, there would be more to talk about, but he blew any chance they had for a medal. It was good to see the kid nail the winner vs. Sweden on Saturday. As for the women's curling, I think the Danish team has been the easiest on the eyes so far. Good thing teams other than the US play curling, then Canada just killed off the Americans, 7-2. They scored 2 in the 9th end, despite the fact that the US had the hammer. Hilarious. -

This thread needs more curling talk. The US is actually playing pretty well right now against Canada, tied 1-1 in the third end. Canada has been playing pretty poorly since they've already clinched the top spot, but the US has been making some nice shots for a change. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 04:38 AM) From everything I've read, he was pretty damn good off the bench in 19 minutes. Something like 8 pts, 8 boards, a block and 2 assists. Oh, definitely. And if he can keep that up, it'd be great. But that being said, nothing anyone can say will convince me that he was the best player on the court for the Wolves last night

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 12:43 AM) Whose to say there isn't a dominant center we might see in 3-5 years down the line. Two words: Ryan Hollins. Yeah, that's right. He might only have two more rebounds (149) than fouls (147) this year, but damnit, he's going to be that new dominant center!!!!!!!!1 Also, on an unrelated note, if you need any more proof that +/- is a terrible stat, just look at tonight's Timberwolves line: Darko Milicic was +35 coming off the bench. I didn't watch the game, but something tells me that doesn't truly show Darko's value tonight. That being said, I love the addition of him. Perfect low-risk move that adds a big body to our front court to play with Jefferson/Love. Now if only Hollins could be benched...

QUOTE (elgonzo4sox @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) Thome is the Twins' Andruw Jones - a cheap pickup, perhaps driven more by memories of time past than on today's realities. Except Jim Thome had a .847 OPS overall last year and a .881 OPS against RHP, and I assume the Twins will be marginally intelligent and not let him face lefties. Meanwhile, Andruw Jones had a .782 OPS and .706 OPS outside of hitter friendly Texas. But yes, other than the fact that one is a far better hitter than the other, they're essentially the same thing.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 11:03 AM) I wonder if this will ever change in MLB. I would like to see a salary cap. Why? Almost all the research on the topic shows that there isn't much of a correlation between playoff appearances and team revenue, so why would adding a salary cap change anything? -
QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 11:11 AM) awesome, Benny the Bull is the best mascot in pro sports. He's not even the best mascot in the NBA.
