I probably should have had Radiohead in my top 20, but I just forgot about them. I go through periods where I listen to them fairly often and others where I never listen to them at all, and it just turns out that this is one of the periods where I never listen to them

Sounds like Royce White isn't expelled (yet). Joel Maturi said he wasn't, and given the fact that he's the AD, I'll take his word for it. -

Beat writer for the Star Tribune claims that Royce's status is "unchanged" http://twitter.com/GophersBBGuy/status/5710130850 That's a pretty good sign, I think. I sent a text message to a buddy of mine that works for the team, but he hasn't replied yet (and I doubt he will, leaking these types of things would probably be frowned upon ). Hopefully this is just a baseless rumor and Royce ends up contributing for the Gophers at some point this season. -

Gophers took care of Tennessee Tech 87-50 last night despite struggling with their shot for much of the first half. We didn't play great, but that's what these games are for. Lawrence Westbrook really went on a tear in the second, ending up with a team high 22 points on 9/13 shooting. As per the norm, Damian Johnson did a little bit of everything. He's by far my favorite player to watch. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 13, 2009 -> 11:28 PM) Rumor Royce White has been expelled from Minnesota. That sucks. http://twitter.com/Fox9Sports We'll see if this is true. If so, I can't really blame the school for doing it, but I'd hope that they would have substantial evidence linking him to the laptop theft. I don't really blame them for doing this though. One of the stipulations of him coming here was shaping up his act, and it doesn't look like he's done that. It's a shame to say goodbye to his type of talent, but that's just how it goes. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 13, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) at best there's 2-3 of those that have games with good teams going head to head - coaches v cancer, maui [clearly the best] and one more I can't remember the name of 76 Classic! -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) Good god, when does Minny play a real team? We play Butler on November 26 as part of the 76 Classic. The field is pretty good, with Butler, Clemson, UCLA, Texas A&M and West Virginia all taking part. I'm not really sure what you expected if you're surprised by the fact that we played two easy teams for exhibitions and then started the season with some pushovers. Most/all teams do this -

Season opener is tonight for the Gophers! Both our exhibition games were complete blowouts and I'm expecting more of the same tonight against Tennessee Tech, but I'm pumped that regular season college basketball is back. This is the second best time of year behind only baseball season -
For the first time since coming to college, I'm actually leaving the state for Thanksgiving. Heading to Virginia to my brothers for his first Thanksgiving in his new house down in Blacksburg.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 11, 2009 -> 12:12 PM) I can make mp3s... It probably isn't particularly hard to do that (I think I've done it in the past with some googling), but I'm being loyal and waiting for the CD to arrive. I think their leaking of the CD on YouTube a week before it was officially released is a pretty interesting strategy, and I'll "honor their trust" (or something like that) by not torrenting it or ripping the YouTube audio.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 11, 2009 -> 09:40 AM) TCV is growing on me. I'm looking forward to getting the CD so I can actually listen to these songs in winamp, as opposed to just having a YouTube tab open on my browser

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) It is incredible, and obviously hopefully he wasn't involved. If he is does Tubby get rid of him? Two thefts in only a few months on campus after getting kicked out of a High School before he got to Minny it isn't exactly a great track record. I can't say I'd be surprised if that happened. I seem to remember an article before White came here about how Tubby had sat him down to make sure there wouldn't be any problems when he got here. Obviously, that hasn't stuck at all if this latest allegation is true. White has had a s*** eating look on his face after both of the two exhibition games this year too. After each game the players walk by the student section giving high fives and such, and after both games White basically looked like he was soaking it all in as the prodigal son of Minnesota. He really needs to learn that he needs to be accountable for his actions and no matter how good you are at basketball, it doesn't matter if you keep f***ing things up. This is true regardless of whether this latest thing is true or not. From the sound of that article, White was just in the dorm at the same time of the crime, so there isn't anything too obvious linking him to it. It sounds like he's just being considered a suspect (like everyone else that was in the dorm at the time), and there haven't been any other claims yet. Hopefully it stays that way and nothing comes from it. -

The kid is a moron. How can you be this stupid when you're given a chance by a Division I school to play basketball? That doesn't even consider the fact that he's been considered talented enough to possibly play in the NBA some day, and he's basically throwing it away by being an idiot. Obviously this is all pending whether or not he's found guilty, but it's amazing how some people can basically throw their lives away. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 10:43 AM) I'm pretty disappointed. It sounds like a lackluster QOTSA offering. I like the first half of the album, but haven't really decided on the second half of it yet. I could do without the vocals on some songs (although I like normally don't mind Homme's vocals that much), especially on Scumbag Blues. For the most part though, I've enjoyed it and it's basically what I expected.

Gophers beat MSU 98-49. We played much worse than we did against Duluth, but still didn't let up more than 50 points and still nearly hit triple digits. I think that's a testament to how much more talented this team is than past years teams, although it could also just mean that MSU and Duluth are godawful teams that anyone could score 100 on. Season starts on Friday, I absolutely cannot wait. -

Last exhibition for the Gophers today, facing off with MSU Moorhead tonight. It should be another blowout, although I doubt we'll crack triple digits again. I've got a feeling that was a one time thing (although MSU is fairly awful, so I guess it's possible) -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 05:02 PM) Imagining is about as far as everybody should go. Who the hell wants to play in Minnesota? Jonny Flynn seemed pretty pumped about it But yeah, that's never going to happen. It certainly would make things interesting though. We've got the cap space and our team has some good building pieces. I'm pretty optimistic about the future for the Wolves, even without James. I really like what David Kahn has done with the team.

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 04:54 PM) Anyone have ESPN Insider? If you go on ESPN's main page under the headlines - it says Why LeBron may end up in Chicago. Can't find anything on the Net about it though There's a little bit about him ending up in Minnesota too, as quoted in this blog post. Of course, that will never happen, but it's fun to dream, right?

QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 02:12 PM) So you know nothing about the Twins? I thought I could leave it at this, but I can't. Carlos Gomez hit .229/.287/.337 last year with pretty good defense in CF. Because of the defense, he was better than a replacement player, believe it or not. He's a fantastic defensive player, but there is no way in hell anyone can actually believe he was their third best player. He was tied (with Jose Morales, who didn't even spend the full season in the majors) for the 8th highest WAR on the team, behind superstars like Nick Punto and Joe Crede. Also ahead of him were Mauer, Morneau, Jason Kubel, Michael Cuddyer and Denard Span. This list doesn't even include their pitchers, who would push Gomez back to at least the 11th or 12th most valuable player on the team last year. There is no possible argument you could make for Gomez being the third best player on that team. Unless you never watched or read anything about the Twins, and then happened to turn on the game where Gomez hit for the cycle. In that case, your opinion might be excused, but other than that.. well.. it's pretty amazing someone can be this foolish.

I don't think I've said it yet, but Damian Johnson is going to be the Big 10's Defensive Player of the Year this year. And if he isn't he's going to be just as robbed of it as he was last year. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) We'll see what happens when he plays a full-season at one position (if that is what the Sox plan on doing). So basically like 2005, when he had a -17.6 UZR/150? To his credit, he had a 0.4 UZR/150 in 2006 when he only played third, but the numbers at third for his full career don't make me optimistic.
-
QUOTE (thedoctor @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:15 PM) am i wrong on this or isn't teahen a butcher at third? He's a terrible 3B. UZR/150 of -10.9 last year and -10.1 for his career. I'm not looking forward to watching him there next year.
