  1. Ha! Now read this piece from a couple weeks ago on what the Sox may be doing next with that remaining pool money. Tracker updated.
  2. Hahn being in the DR yesterday for signings may be involved in the delayed Fulmer signing, but it should move very soon. I'm pretty confident they want to get it done to go after one or more of the back end reach picks. I'd be surprised if Fulmer wasn't signed by mid-next week.
  3. Once more, the signings post is as up to date as we can get it. There seems to be nothing out there on Brayant (or Bryant) Nova. SoxTalk hive mind - if any of you can find anything, let us know! Other than that the other players are detailed in the post.
  4. I'm starting to like this idea of going big in 2016. With 5 or 6 teams that normally spend big being out of the picture, that gives a team like the White Sox an opportunity to seriously load up on talent. That might be the year to go for it.
  5. Article on FS (link in OP) updated for Mendoza.
  6. New signing: OF Harvin Mendoza No bonus yet known.
  7. J2 post updated to reflect the third signing and some other details, right here.
  8. Going to hold this thread for now, as we have a pinned thread in PHT.
  9. Seems to be conflicting reports on the Tatis bonus, it is either 700k or 825k.
  10. Add INF Santos Vasquez for 300k. We'll add a report on him soon.
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) Considering there's 30 teams, getting two of the top 30 isn't bad, even though would have liked to get someone higher than #27. Then again, how reliable are rankings of 16 year olds anyway? Very much not. It's a huge crapshoot. The system is bizarre, corrupt and bad, but every team has to play in so they are competitive for the talent. The great majority of these guys, even the T30, will never see the majors.
  12. Per Jesse Sanchez, Sox have (so far) signed Franklin Reyes for $1.5M, and Fernando Tatis Jr for $700k. Reports on Future Sox coming soon.
  13. Wow, no thread yet? Scoreboard Not much good to report yet.
  14. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) Those Marreros are org guys, right? Yes. Christian has been in the Sox org most of his career, he's 28, been at AA or AAA since 2009. He's filler.
  15. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) Thanks for the write-up as always! You mention that Peter has a utility profile moving forward, do you think he has any chance of being able to stick at 2nd at the major league level? I loved the pick originally and his his type of approach is exactly what I would love to see more of on this club. Also, do you see Feliz making the move stateside before the end of the season or beginning of next year? His profile gives him a utility path if that gets him up faster, but yes at this point the starting role is still in play. His flexibility means he could continue starting while, if necessary, playing other positions. As for Feliz, its really hard to guess, but it is certainly possible he comes up to the States before the end of the season. He's 17 so there really isn't a rush, but the stats (while not meaning a whole ton in detail) generally suggest he's adjusting very well and very quickly, which is encouraging.
  16. Take a look here to see who's been hot down on the farm in June. Do you agree with the choices? Any questions people have on those players?
  17. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) So we shouldn't be overly concerned that Adams' strikeout rate has dropped significantly from last year? It's not black and white. There are reasons for it (velo drop, K loss) that can be fine - the fact that he's young and getting stretched out full-season, and the fact that Bautista is working with Adams on significant changes to his delivery. Then again maybe he lacks the strength to maintain, which is not great but seems workable. I'd call it a concern, but not a reason to jump off a cliff by any means.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) Via trade bud 1. That would be the definition of selling low 2. You aren't getting anything in return for him and you'd have to send money with him The likelihood of him being traded is very low, and it doesn't make much sense for the club to trade him at this point.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 09:52 PM) That looks really good right now.
  20. Recap posted Some stuff in there you should read - got a small report on Adams in person, updates on a few key guys and some interesting numbers.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 12:11 PM) I think so. Physical demands of the job would be an issue. Of course I think people should be allowed to fire anyone for any reason. But we've been over that before. Eh, physical requirements for a job have repeatedly been called OK. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) I didn't get fired for being fat, but I got denied a promotion. My boss flat out told me that I didn't get a promotion because fat people are too lazy to succeed at the next level. Well that's awful.
  22. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 02:56 PM) I read the article. But how do the Sox cut him from A ball one day, and not only sign him after a short stint in Indy, but sign him back into AAA? Was it simply a case of signing him back to be an org guy? Is he an org guy or a legit prospect that they just only realized? Well, to be clear... he was cut from A+... went to indy ball where he resurrected his curveball and made some mechanical changes.. Sox re-signed him to A+ again as he'd improved... Perdew worked on a cutter with him and made further tweaks, so he was getting even better... was promoted to AA... played winter ball in Mexico... Was ready to be in AA or AAA to being 2015 but they didn't have a slot for him so they "loaned" him to the Mexican League (roughly AA to AAA equivalent), where he looked good... THEN he went to AAA. He was an org guy. He made key improvements - added fastball velocity and movement, added a major league cutter, re-added his curveball - so now he's more than that. He may not turn out to be much, but he's a better pitcher than he was 2 years ago by a long shot.
  23. QUOTE (staxx @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) I still think Beck finds his way into the rotation this year. Either him or Johnson. I'd greatly prefer Johnson over Beck. I'm not very high on Beck, in fact I only give him a slight edge over Marin right now.
  24. QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 01:22 PM) Ahhhh, that's a key difference, still if he can stay around 93 into the fifth and later then he could develop into a starter. Also a sinker/cutter mix must be a nightmare for hitters to face. Here's an interesting thought. Chris Beck has still been looked at as a Top 20 or even close to Top 10 guy in the Sox system. He and Marin are both sinker-cutter primarily, with the breaking pitches being less reliable. Marin is only one year older than Beck. Marin actually gets more ground balls than Beck does, and strikes out more guys (long term - not this year so far in small sample) than Beck does. Yet Marin wasn't even a consideration for being a T30 guy until, basically, now. Yes I know the circumstances are different, yes I know Beck at one time had a strong slider, yes I know current Marin is different than past Marin. Just saying, they have similarities, and maybe they aren't as far apart as you'd think.
