QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 12:42 PM) I would think Hawkins would be a given. If he's healthy, yeah, that's a good call. He's missed some time, and could use the reps against better pitches.

Top White Sox Prospects, Midseason 2015

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 12:41 PM) A joke? He's striking out the world in AAA, and had a nice K:BB in a brief majors stint. Albeit he's been poorer in the bullpen recently (I'd have left him starting). Out of some of the names you want ahead of him, I love me some Cleuluis, but he's hitting .182/.245/.227 at A+, that's beyond poor. Robbins is hitting .264/.278/.364 at Low-A as a 22-year-old. Luis Martinez is striking out 15% and walking 11% at Low-A. As for my thoughts about the list, players I don't buy as Top 30, or as high as they are: Nick Delmonico: hitting below league average for Birmingham, offers nothing defensively or on the bases, wouldn't be hyped only for 22 great PA with Winston-Sale, Johan Cruz: not actually hitting that well despite a .315 average (89 wRC+), walk rate has collapsed Myles Jaye: colour me unimpressed by a 17.8 K% and a 8.0 BB% at his second go at AA, and his first go was awful Thad Lowry: he's intriguing but not that high for me, like Jaye the K:BB has jumped from awful to merely okay Corey Zangari: 31 strikeouts to 5 walks as a first baseman at AZL screams trouble to me, even considering his age People I would have considered over some of those guys: Junior Guerra: as stated above Jordan Guerrero: Unless he's top 15? Matt Cooper: 41.1 K%, 5.7 BB%. Completely insane. Promote him already. Seby Zavela: college performer, completely mashing at AZL (as he should be, but .364/.432/.662 is terrific), can he stick at catcher? Carlos Perez: a terrific 14:5 BB:K ratio for the DSL White Sox, projects to stick at catcher, good scouting reports Zach Phillips: still technically a prospect despite appearing in 3 MLB seasons, excellent at Charlotte could do a job in the bullpen right now imo Dan Dopico: college performing reliever, like Cooper a terrific K:BB at a lower level than he should be David Trexler: stuff has apparently ticked way up, this would be dependant on him moving to a starter like reports said, but he hasn't yet Omar Narvaez: wildcard but has excellent plate discipline (no power), ranking would be dependent on him potentially being an excellent framer per reports For the record, not all the writers were in agreement on everything. I happen to agree with you on Delminico for example, and I personally think he's not that close to T30 - though I know the profile and background add some interest. As for your alternates, a few notes... Guerrero is in the Top 15... Cooper is interesting, the results are insane, but I saw him in person in May and wasn't that impressed (unless he's changed some things, which is possible) though I agree he needs promotion... With Zavala and Dopico they are both worth watching, but I'm not going to get super-excited about Rk ball stats from lower profile guys just yet... Trexler, Narvaez and Perez were all discussed and just missed the list. Oh and, Philips is no longer a prospect by rule - too much major league service time. -
Top White Sox Prospects, Midseason 2015

Also on Rondon, keep this in view: The White Sox promoted Eddy Alvarez, and Eddy has been playing shortstop almost exclusively. So they moved Rondon off SS (to 2B and some DH for getting ABs) to make room for Alvarez. That should tell you something. I'm actually surprised they didn't move Rondon back to Kanny, though I suppose they've got him on a hitting program with Charlie Poe they don't want to interrupt. -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) Yeah, what's the story with him? Does anyone know about his stuff? His numbers last summer in Great Falls were strong, too. Here's my report from May with video. He's unorthodox in a few ways, which helps him I'm sure. But if you take what I saw, add a few ticks to the fastball and add a cutter, he's suddenly a much more intriguing guy. At his age though, they need to get him moving.

Montas would be a repeat, which is rare though it does happen. My best guess on who you'll see there: Chris Beck (missed time), Michael Ynoa (40 man decision and missed time), JB Wendelken (40 man decision), Nolan Sanburn (missed time), Jacob May (missed time), Nick Delmonico (40 man decision and missed time), and Brandon Brennan (missed time) as the non-AA guy. Other possibilities: Robin Leyer, JB Wendelken, Jason Coats, Myles Jaye, Kyle Hansen, Danny Hayes

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) My thoughts: Guerra at 30 over guys like Leyer, Wheeler, Rondon (assuming he's not in top 15), Rodriguez, Robbins, Almonte, Chalas, and Martinez is a joke to me. But, that's really nit picking since he's at 30. Love that Wendelken finally made the list. I really think he can be a Petricka type pitcher. Love that the young guys are finally coming into their own it looks like, like Cruz, Jarvis, Clark. I'm willing to bet Savala, Rodriguez, and Almonte will crack the top 30 next year. I think Erwin is too high, low 20s sounds right. As Will pointed out, Guerra is right on the doorstep and has the stuff to be an effective major league reliever. Guys like Leyer and Wheeler (other relievers) are further off and their current stuff is no better, though they have higher ceilings. The rest are all guys who could have made a case there, but as Rob pointed out, we had a real hard time with the back end of the list. When we release the full list that includes names who just missed, you'll see it is longer than any we've ever had, because there were that many "interesting" guys at the bottom. FYI, Rondon is not in the Top 15 either. His hitting has fallen off a cliff, not just in results, but when you watch him hit he's just a disaster up there. -
The wait is over - we have our Top 30 White Sox prospects list ready. As usual we are releasing in two parts. First we do players ranked 16-30 with their detailed capsules, then a day or two later the Full T30 with T15 capsules, and a list of players who just missed the list. Here is the 16-30 article, which by the way is a LOT different than the offseason one. Lots of turnover on this list. Would love to hear people's thoughts on the list!

I don't know if Cooper has improved since I saw him in May (there are reports of increased velo, and maybe an upper 80s pitch that suggests a cutter) or if he has just gotten really good at getting A-ball hitters out, but he's been absolutely ridiculous. I mean, 26 K and 0 BB in 13 scoreless innings? LOL, time for a promotion and quick. See if you've got something.

If you want to know more on Thompson, here's our detailed profile. Also, here's a little teaser - Trayce made a nice jump up our Top 30 that comes out this week.

White Sox Prospects of the Month - July 2015
NorthSideSox72 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 04:09 AM) Dan what about Eric Johnson ? Didn't he have a recent string of giving up 1 run in 40 innings ? QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) No Erik Johnson? also you should tweet at the teams and/or players. They'd probably love to hear these articles and give them a retweet. Johnson no longer qualifies as a prospect. Good point on the tweets at the players, we've done that before, just didn't this time. -
July was a hot month on the farm, with a large number of strong performances on both sides of the ball. It was hard to narrow it down, but Dan found a way, and here are the Top White Sox Prospects of July. Who are you most excited about?
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 11:37 AM) Not true we got Sellers yesterday in trade.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) Was hoping Jackson Glines would be doing better at these levels. He was a saver special, signed for 10k in the 10th. That's usually more like a 20th round pick's bonus, give or take. I wouldn't expect much from him, though if he does do well, bonus.
-
Minor league filler, likely a cash deal. Won't have traded anything of value for him.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) i tried to look him up in the T30 for the sox prospect in miilb. is he a rated prospect?? He'll be on our new list next week.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) Nieto would be in the White Sox top 100. Keep him around for a couple of more years...see how he does. Disappointing this year, at least offensively. 3 prospects in the top 65 is pretty strong improvement. And that doesn't include the 2 ML ready Johnsons. Keep on building. Actually, Micah is still eligible. But didn't make the T100.
-
Alexei Ramirez has an option with a buyout clause after this year. If the Sox hang onto him, but buy out his 2016 option (as opposed to taking it), can the team then offer him arb and get a comp pick if he turns it down? Someone asked on Twitter, I honestly can't find the answer.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 12:17 PM) I feel like this should be a much bigger deal. Missing one game very likely doesn't mean anything. Besides, if it was a trade, we'd have heard about it by now. These guys do get days off on occasion.
-
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) These lists always throw some surprises in there, but this one is fairly close to the upcoming FutureSox list. However, Robinson Leyer? Wow, that's a totally out there pick. Agree. I think he's an interesting relief arm, but not a T30 guy to me at all. At least not yet. Also... Jace Fry still on the list? Down for second TJ? Ridiculous.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 11:24 PM) Several radio guys after the game today mentioned multiple times that our farm system is "barren" and that we had nothing down there to trade. It might not be super deep or loaded, but we're definitely middle of the pack, right? QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 12:42 AM) Radio guys in this town know nothing about the White Sox system. I think White Sox are somewhere between like 16-23 as far as systems go. It's definitely a lower half system, beyond that it is hard to say. Looking at the T30 list we are publishing next week... think of the system talent depth as a graphical function. A typical system, with value as the Y axis and rank of player as the X axis, would be a more or less straight line from top left to bottom right for that team's top X number of players. The White Sox system is comparable in the first 3 or 4, but then dips dramatically from 5-ish to the late teens. Then the curve flattens and passes back through and above the typical system for the bottom 10 or so guys among the T30. That's what it looks like to me right now. As for trading value, sadly, that's bad - because the prospects most often traded are not the top 2 or 3, but in the tier below that, where the current system is weakest relative to other systems and even historically this system.
-
Re-opening this, not sure why it was closed. Just because Dodgers say they don't want to trade him doesn't mean they won't. See: Tulo.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 06:19 PM) My guess for at season end: 1. Fulmer 2. Anderson 3. Montas 4. Micah (if still a prospect) 5. Danish 6. Trey 7. Adams 8. May 9. Adolfo 10. EAlvarez (out on a limb) 11. Hawkins 12. TThompson QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:44 PM) 1. Carson Fulmer RHP 2. Tim Anderson SS 3. Spencer Adams RHP 4. Frankie Montas RHP 5. Trey Michalczewski 3B 6. Tyler Danish RHP 7. Micker Adolfo OF 8. Courtney Hawkins OF 9. Micah Johnson 2B 10. Jason Coats OF bold face for bold choices.

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) I saw Kanny live, very quick game as both starters (Luis Martinez for KAN) worked quick, saw Tommy Thompson and Brett Austin ejected too -Martinez has a tall mound presence and looks bigger than earlier this year, would hit 93-95 and had offspeed from 83-88 -Cooper would hit 93-95 but had off speed that varied from 78-88 Cooper hit 93-95? Scout gun or stadium gun? Because I had him more 90-91, tocuhed 92, on scout guns in May. You also echo another report I got on Martinez, that his FB is legitimately now 93-94, T95, his command has improved dramatically, and the change is getting better. MiLB featured this game and said some similar things. Big leap for him.

Where is the Rasied by Wolves option?
