I'd personally like to see RHP Montas (ETA:September), RHP Adams (ETA: 2018), Michalczewski (ETA:2017), Hawkins (ETA:2016), Barnum (ETA:2018), May (ETA:2016), and Austin (ETA:2018)

 

Montas likely won't go due to MLB service this year, Adams I'd like to see against other top prospects, Michalczewski I'd like to see develop power, Hawkins I'd like to see have a good AFL and gain back high end prospect form, Barnum I feel is turning things around and can use extra time in Arizona, and Austin is a project-type C but has a great arm and a solid bat when hot

I think you're only allowed one player under AA. Austin won't go as he's not even in A+, I'd assume they would rather have Adams shut down and resting and I don't think Barnum is ready. I could see Trey or someone like Ynoa being the under AA guy that goes. Hawkins and May are real possibilities though.

I think Anderson needs as many reps as possible. It's not like he's a pitcher whose arm we are trying to conserve. He was raw coming out of college so getting him extended reps and seeing better pitching can only be a good thing.

Eligibility Rules

The eligibility rules to play in the AFL are simple.

 

The roster size is 30 players per team.

 

Each Major League organization is required to provide six players subject to the following requirements:

 

All Triple-A and Double-A players are eligible, provided the players are on at least a Double-A level roster no later than Aug. 1.

One player below the Double-A level is allowed per Major League team.

One foreign player is allowed, as long as the player does not reside in a country that participates in winter ball, as part of the Caribbean Confederation or the Australian winter league.

No players with more than one year of credited Major League service as of August 31 are eligible, except a team may select one player picked in the most recently concluded Major League Rule 5 Draft.

To be eligible, players on Minor League disabled lists must be activated at least 45 days before the conclusion of their respective seasons.

Would like to see Montas and May in the AFL due to losing some playing time this year. Adam Engel as the below AA player. Anderson , Delmonico and Terance Marin too. That my six guesses.

I'd like to see Delmonico, Montas, May, Erik Johnson, Barnum (Trey would be interesting but could use another year of seasoning, Barnum has missed a lot of time over the past two seasons so he needs as many reps as possible plus he seems to be figuring out A+ over the last month), Peter Tago & Coats. I know Coats isn't a sexy prospect but I'd like to see how he does against the more advanced competition the AFL provides.

My best guess on who you'll see there: Chris Beck (missed time), Michael Ynoa (40 man decision and missed time), JB Wendelken (40 man decision), Nolan Sanburn (missed time), Jacob May (missed time), Nick Delmonico (40 man decision and missed time), and Brandon Brennan (missed time) as the non-AA guy. Other possibilities: Robin Leyer, JB Wendelken, Jason Coats, Myles Jaye, Kyle Hansen, Danny Hayes

If he's healthy, yeah, that's a good call. He's missed some time, and could use the reps against better pitches.

Would love to see Coats there. He could be a good possibility to make the White Sox 40 man roster if he finishes the season strong and has a good AFL.

Adam Engel. Leads Carolina League in steals (49/11) and runs scored (75, ahead by five). Has OBP pushing .350 (with 53 walks, a nice figure for a leadoff guy, especially in our system). Soli fielder. Will be 24 in December.

No rush to put Coats on 40, he doesn't have to be until after 2016. You really only put him there if you are adding him to the active roster. Also he's doing well in AAA, not much good reason for him to play AFL.

What's the likelihood of Delmonico getting picked during the Rule 5? Don't think anyone's gonna give him a shot at the big league next year.

Delmonico won't go in the major league phase. No way someone does that with him.

 

The major league phase of the Rule V, makes all players eligible that aren't on the 40-man roster and have a certain combo of age/years in the minors. Guys like Ynoa and Delmonico become eligible this coming offseason.

 

The AAA and AA portions go after players not on the 40 AND meet those requirements AND aren't on the minor league reserve lists, which are pretty substantial. So the chances of losing anyone significant in those phases is damn near zero. The best player I saw the Sox lose in those phases was Brady Shoemaker, and he'd missed nearly the entire year prior to injury.

 

I think Eddy Alvarez would be a great candidate to send for the player under AA. He's an exciting player, and I'd love to know what the organization has in him. Additional reps against some of the better minor league talent is exactly what he needs.

i would be excited on seeing him on the arz league roster after the season.

 

this may be a player who could be rushed a little.

 

as you said, give him the reps.

Three interesting names there in Tago, Barnum, and Delmonico.
