QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 04:10 PM) Mitchell is awful. I am overwhelmed by the staggering profundity of your artfully crated retort. Yes, the guy coming off a terrible injury, and who by the way has started to hit quite well lately, and was already known to be raw on drafting him... is "awful". Thanks for adding to the discussion.

LOL at telling the President to "get out of the way". He's the one pushing FOR this. The reason it isn't getting done is the people to his left screaming about cuts, and the people to his right screaming they refuse to do anything different on revenue. I've blamed Obama for an awful lot of bad policy so far, but on this, he's absolutely not the problem. I'd put the majority of blame on the fact that the GOP made a grand bargain to support tea party policies to the point of refusing any attempt and compromise, and then to a lesser but still significant extent, the lefties refusing to see that the government's spending is out of control.

Sox "uncharacteristically quiet" on trade front

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) We better win at least 5 of 6 or lose at least 5 of 6. That way decisions can be made to stay in this or to bail out, instead of being caught in the middle. That is my feeling as well. If they can go 5-1, or at least 4-2, that goes a long way. 2-4 or worse, it is time to sell. 3-3 would be the ultimate in frustration for everyone. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:27 AM) Soriano for Dunn, straight up? Soriano for Pierre and a mid-level prospect, I'd do that if the Cubs took a "high" percentage of Soriano's remaining contract.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) Well that and the obvious sexism after the whole anti-gay thread comments. That was my thinking. As soon as I saw the thread, I knew the sore xxxxx line would come out quick. What is it with message boards and turning people into 13 year old boys? I wouldn't be opposed to having him sit for a week, but... reality is, this team needs Dunn in order to have a shot at the ALC. So you really have to keep playing him, and just tell him to start trying anything. Everything. Even goofy s***, just something to mentally shake something loose.

FutureSox Mid-Season Top 25 Prospects List Posted

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 09:40 AM) What do you guys think of Pitcher Ryan Kussmaul at W-Salem? I know nothing about his stuff, I haven't read any scouting reports on him. He's a UDFA, a little old for his level at 24 in High A. Impressive numbers in most categories, somewhat similar to Remenowsky in terms of stats and background... though Kussmaul walks a few more batters and doesn't induce as many ground balls. But that K rate is very pretty. Do you have any info on him to share? -
QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 05:10 PM) Paying the interest on our bonds is servicing the debt. Will they be able to pay the interest, Yes. Hence no default on the debt. Deciding what to pay after that is another story. Nice trick of words. Defaulting on DEBT you say. But if you default on OBLIGATIONS, that is also a default, just of a different kind.

T-Pain re-injured? ... Indianapolis Bottom of the 6th Pitcher Change: Tony Pena replaces Deunte Heath. Pitcher Change: Shane Lindsay replaces Tony Pena. Came in, didn't pitch to a batter.

The more I think about it, assuming Danks comes back healthy this week... put me on the Peavy-to-the-Bullpen bandwagon. He obviously is still struggling a bit with recovering strength and conditioning, but he needs to pitch to build that back up. The Sox have 6 starters and need anther strong reliever. Let Peavy work the rest of the year from the pen, and go back to starting only if necessary. Then he has the offseason to more fully recover and condition, and be ready to start in 2012.

Of course they wanted press. And I fail to see why that is a bad thing either.

Complete White Sox draft and signings list
NorthSideSox72 replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
Sox have already signed their first 7 picks, 10 of their top 12, 20 of their top 24, and 30 of their top 38. That's really pretty damn good even for after the deadline, let alone a month before it. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/27208...ox-ken-mcintyre 5% of people making less than $22,000 a year have a photo copier? WTF? Why? Not really making a comment about the whole poorpeople and necessities thing, as much as just saying... photocopier? Really?

QUOTE (onedude @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 11:00 AM) Peavy? I'm starting to think that isn't the worst idea in the world.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) If they want a righty reliever they should really just give Infante or Reed a shot at it Seriously. The Sox have a number of decent RH arms in the pen in AAA and AA, not sure why this is what they think they need.

7/19 GT: Sox @ Royals, 7:10pm
NorthSideSox72 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in 2011 Season in Review
it is so, so key to this team's season for Dunn to snap out of this horrific slump/season. PK/Dunn/TCQ would look so much better if Dunn was his usual self. -
Thanks for the post. Did you check out our Sox Top 25 on futuresox.com?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 08:29 AM) Bring him back until he doesn't want to come back... you can do worse for a 3rd/4th starter. LOL at 3rd/4th starter. Dude has a 3.38 ERA this year, 3.82 career, not to mention the pickoff move, plus defense at position, durability, and leadership qualities. Most teams would be ecstatic to have him at #2. On some teams he'd be #1. There might be 3-4 teams where he'd be anything below a 2nd starter. Baseball-wide, he's a solid #2 starter. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 08:23 AM) Bothered by this though...I'd have said the same about Infante last year. I don't see any similarities between them, other than they are relievers. Different pitchers, different histories, different movement through the system.

Sox took game one. Win this game, and they win the series, their second straight road series against an ALC opponent. Peavy got the rest he wanted. Duffy has a 5.73 ERA in July. Don't stop now boys... GO YOU WHITE SOX!!!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) I took it more as mocking the "ZOMG! There's still SNOW! Global Warming is a HOAXX!!!" crowd. So did I, but in doing so he was also seemingly pointing out ZOMG! HEAT WAVE!!!", which is equally silly.

Only a few games, but Phegley holding his own in AAA so far. My AAP Remenowsky putting up unusual numbers for him. 1:1 K:BB ratio, striking out less than a guy an inning... but, hitters aren't hitting him either. I wonder if they have him working on something that is changing his approach, or if the hitters are that different, or what.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 03:48 PM) Sure has been dangerously hot in many parts of the US for an extended amount of time. This just proves that climate change is a myth. **goes off to pray for rain and milder temps** What's funny is, as silly as some people are for thinking what you are making fun of... the fact that you think a few days' worth of weather PROVES anything is equally silly.

This is tonight's free game on MLB TV, if interested. Match-up is favorable, won 2 of 3 in DET, need the same in KC. Get the opener. Been a few weeks... *clears throat* GO YOU WHITE SOX!!!

FutureSox Mid-Season Top 25 Prospects List Posted
NorthSideSox72 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 12:02 AM) So now you guys are basing this off prospects who can/could make the majors with limited upside (not saying that is Reed necessarily) than prospects with the highest potential who can/could bust? And yea, you know I wasn't a fan of Mitchell (or the pick of him) at the time anyways Dan (like the tools, but was very risky for a 1st rounder). It is now, and has always been, a balance. A player like Mitchell has a much lower % shot at making it to a decent major league career at all, but if he does, he will have more value. Reed is almost assuredly going to have one, but as you said, he's a reliever. The list is not all about ultimate upside, nor is it all about chances of making it. It is both.
