Just keep taking it series by series. At 40 games left we were 5 back, and basically needed to gain a game a week. We gained one last week, let's see where we are at the end of this week. Depending on the game tonight (DET/MIN), the Sox will be 3.5 or 4.5 games back. For the Boston series, the goal should be to stay even with the Twins. They play TEX, which is no easy series by any means, so that's very possible.

Well so far, I'd call Froyo an epic fail. After the update, my droid is slower, apps stopped working, and none of the things people have really complained about like battery life are not improved. More bloatware too - software you cannot uninstall in this case. And of course, you can't revert back. Did people not learn anything from the debacle that was Vista? If you are going to add a bunch of new toys to a successful OS, you also need to invest in making sure you don't tank the OS performance. This upgrade has been a downgrade, and the message boards seem to have that as a theme right now.

Let's hope that's just oil from the rig itself, so its terminal. If that's from below, well, f***.

Pleasant surprise in housing. Contracts for sales of previously owned homes actually rose 5+% in July, AFTER the tax credit expired, versus expectations it would drop. That came out of nowhere. Mortgage rates now hovering around 4.3% base. Wow.

It just seems so unlikely the Twins can keep this up for another 4.5 weeks. They are playing ridiculously well wins-wise, but their team just looks like they are playing over their heads and getting just the right stuff at just the right moment. Screams unsustainable to me.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 09:56 AM) Quentin with no value? Please. Let's not undervalue our own people, but I see no reason to even consider a trade of CQ QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 09:57 AM) He has become Andruw Jones but with no fielding ability. Somewhere between you two is reality. Quentin would not get it done for Choo, but calling his offense the same as Jones is just silly. And I doubt CLE wants to part with Choo anyway.

QUOTE (coco1997 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) Per Facebook: Brent Morel Just got called up.. Flying to Boston to meet the team for a 3 game series against the red sox!! Thank you lord for this wonderful blessing. Wasn't expecting that. Interesting.

Guys, if you want to talk about the economy or politics, take it to the Filibuster. And my g*d Caufield, did you really just make a post that somehow involved Manny Ramirez, Gross Domestic Product, Robert E. Lee and the atomic bomb?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 08:18 AM) I think there's a real good chance the team will get that done. It'd be silly to let him walk over a couple million. I agree, and I further think that Paulie does indeed want to be back with the Sox. I'd bet a 2 or 2+opt year deal will get done. No idea on the money.

2010 Minor League Catch-All Thread

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) Yea, but it's not like Leesman was just promoted to AA this week. He has been there for over a month, and has been fantastic. There is another possible reason, and I think people sometimes forget this. You often see players in the minors have sudden changes in their numbers, and I don't just means streaks, but funadmental changes in their peripherals. At least some of the time, it is going to be coaches working with players on certain things. In other words, they may not necessarily be going out there to pitch the best game possible - they may be going out there to throw nothing but sliders, or using a slightly changed motion, etc. Leesman may have been doing something like that in W-S, and when they saw that he figured out whatever they wanted him to, it was time for prime time. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 08:16 AM) Hurricane Earl. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 08:17 AM) Earl is forecasted to be right off the New England coast Friday night. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 08:18 AM) Hurricane Earl I get the feeling this has something to do with hurricane Earl... Anyway, I thought the latest was that it would be well offshore, but I haven't checked lately. I guess that's changed.

Ozzie Keeping Sox In Race Without a Bullpen
NorthSideSox72 replied to Marty34's topic in Pale Hose Talk
People have short memories. Until about 3 weeks ago, the Sox had one of the best pens in the game, and that was part of why they were even IN the race. Now lately, the Sox offense has been on fire - and that has kept them from completely imploding. I will say this in defense of Ozzie though - throughout his career managing the Sox, he's actually been quite good at handling his pitchers (nto perfect, but no manager is). This amazes me, because he's never pitched, and he handles his position players poorly. I'd have to think he is taking a lot of queues about the pitching from Coop, but who knows. -
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 06:11 AM) I would assume tomorrow's game in Boston will be postponed. But I haven't seen anything yet. Why?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) She's been on Bill Mahr's show a few times. Pretty smart, quick witted woman. What's funny is that she's agnostic but still thinks the attack on the religious right exists. I tend to agree. Maybe if the religious right minded their own f***ing business, as their supposed conservative ideals would dictate, they wouldn't be under attack.

August White Sox Catch-All Thread
NorthSideSox72 replied to iamshack's topic in 2010 Season in Review
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) I wouldn't mind getting Ventura into the mix, if Cora goes to Seattle. As I understand it, Robin has said he does want to get back into baseball, but he has also said he wants to wait until his kids are off to college before moving and being on the road again. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) (Her bio) I'd never even heard of that person until I saw this.

QUOTE (michelangelosmonkey @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) Where is the link to his torn labrum...I googled it and it only refers to Soxtalk and forums that got it from Sox talk. Seems as if Soxtalk got it from his face book page? That was the original source, yes. Not sure if its been documented elsewhere, since he is electing to play throough it.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) Yep. Andruw Jones, Omar Vizquel, Alex Rios, ect. Yeah I was going to say, apparently kitekrazy missed the 2010 season thus far. This team is above average defensively as a whole for the year, and is far better on defense than teams in previous years. TCQ is a liability and Teahen is when he plays third (which has been rarely), but the rest of the field is pretty damn good.

Well this is interesting. A man was apparently upset that the Discovery Channel wasn't doing enough to save the planet, so he has now gone in with at least a gun and taken hostages. Weird.
-
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) I remember him saying how Vizquel was not the reason that alexei improved so I guess I doubt that Vizquel was really brought in for that. That was later. Ozzie changed his mind. I hope Ozzie doesn't really think Omar is likely to hit .285 again in 2011.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) He started the season on the 25 man roster, my friend. Ha! Of course he did, and I totally forgot that. So unless he cleared waivers AGAIN, he'd naturally be on the 40. My bad.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) He is. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) When did they take him off of the 40? well, s***, I thought after his injury in 2008, in 2009 he cleared waivers and was sent to AAA without having to be on the 40. Did they put him back? I stand corrected.

QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) Unfortunately since Detroit sucks this sweeps gonna net us ZERO games gained on Minnesota.... DET was one of the hottest teams in baseball in recent weeks. And... QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) The Twins still have to face Scherzer and Verlander the next 2 nights. So let's not go all eeyore just yet. I'd be surprised if MIN took both the next two games.
