QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) He seemed good at calling a game and on defense. We have plenty of room for a guy like that for the last month, I'd think. I'm a pretty big Lucy fan, I think he can be a capable major league backup C, for those reasons mostly. But he's not on the 40 I don't believe, and they weren't going to bump off a serious prospect for him. That's why he's not here. But you may very well seem him on the club in 2011.

Sounds like Friday.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 10:35 AM) Has he said this? He said going into the season that one of the major reasons they brought him in was for guidance for Alexei and Gordon, and until Teahen's injury, Vizquel was only starting occasionally. So basically, yes.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) Carrasco pitched Manny well in that AB. Aced him with two pitches to get to 0-2. Got him out in front of a breaking pitch to get him to ground to SS. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) Ground out to SS. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 11:27 AM) Groundout to SS. Did he ground out to the shortstop?

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) He had 5 hits. He happened to have a little hot streak while he was up here, he didn't earn anything, he's still bad. Even for as much as Flowers struggled in AAA this year he still out OPS'd Lucy by about 150 points. Yeah, Lucy may turn out to be the backup C next year, but no one is under the illusion that he is a future starter. Flowers, despite some struggles this year, is still seen as the catcher of the future for the Sox. They want to get a good look at him now - Lucy is a known commodity.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 08:31 AM) Only if Omar tells the team he doesn't want to play 100 games next year. You are quickly becoming part of the paranoid crowd. Omar did not play regularly when the season opened - it took Teahen both sucking in the field and getting hurt for that to happen. Ozzie is aware that Omar's biggest value going forward will be helping the infield, not starting.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 09:06 AM) I feel T3 had very little drama, and horrible acting. I also feel that T2 had incredible acting, drama, and action, and the fact that it looked better and more realistic than a film made 14 years later is even more remarkable. I also loved how they tied John Connor's love of GnR together in T2 and Salvation. LOL, this discussion will go nowhere. Incredible acting is not a trait of any of these movies, nor is realism. And if by realism you mean sticking with the original analog story line, T2 was the one movie that went way off the tracks.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 08:23 AM) The only way Vizquel isn't in that spot on opening day is injury or retirement. I could easily see the club deciding that Morel has the job, Vizquel is the utility IF and more importantly, infield coach. They slowly transition the job to Morel.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) You need to watch it again. You could not be less accurate. Do you not recall the image on the left from that film? There was so much cheese, so many lame jokes, SUCH bad acting throughout T3. It was a complete joke, while T2 was completely dark and had some truly touching moments as well. I completely disagree with you on this one. Feel free to see it that way, I just think T2 was a lot more schmaltzy and shiny, and a lot less dark and dramatic, than T3.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) Morel says "September call-up? Nah, I'm good dominating here in Charlotte" 3/5 with a 2B, his 24th double in just 80 games in AAA. I like Morel a lot, had him higher on prospect lists than others in the last few, and I think he's got a real shot at being the Sox 3B next year. That said, the guy has a torn labrum, and the Sox have a pretty big stack of 3B's right now, so keeping him home to get extra rest in the offseason is the right move.
-
I think Mabee and Lowe fall into the "let's see if they are really prospects or not" category. There are always a couple of those types sent. The rest are real prospects who either need more field time, and/or the Sox want to see (and show other teams) how they do against high end prospect competition. Anyone know if they are doing that secondary, younger level AFL thing this year?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 11:24 PM) Wow, that is a straight up shock right there. I'm going to pull a J.ReedFan here and say it... I called that one.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 03:35 PM) There was a mini press conference, Manny talking to all the beat writers, which Manny conducted in Spanish and was translated by Joey Cora and Mark Gonzales. Ah. I missed the transition. One minute we were discussing Manny not being in the lineup, the next minute there was something about Manny's English.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Dude went to high school in New York. I've heard him speak English just fine... no reason not to give the Press Conference in English. OK I missed something here - what press conference?
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) Loved the ending. You are right, most would disagree. T3 was a cheesy disaster. A very solid movie and a great addition to the franchise. Really? The cheesy monologue with the road going by? I thought it was a drag, and i thought the final showdown sequence before it went way to long. And LOL at T2 not being cheesy but T3 was. One may like T2 better - it had better visuals and better pacing - but T3 was much more somber, much less comic, and really couldn't be described as "cheesy" even if you don't like it.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) I doubt that. Manny forgot how to speak English on the flight over according to Cowley. What does that even have to do with anything? That's just Cowley doing his usual Jay Mariotti imitation.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) Cowley says Manny did not conform to the policy and his hair remained identical. Well, if Cowley is indeed correct (which is not a safe assumption), then that's a third scenario I hadn't considered - Ozzie may be sending a message to Manny to get in line.
-
Two co-workers seem convinced that Manny will indeed be in the lineup tonight when its actually game time. And that KW is calling Ozzie right now saying "WTF are you doing?"
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) Well that's pretty ridiculous. I love the outrage assuming Ozzie is just choosing not to play Manny here. It's comical. The only other scenario is that Manny expressed a desire not to play. Seems unlikely to me, given his situation, and that Gonzales just said that Manny stated he felt like a 25-year-old. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) That's not a quote, that's Cowley's opinion and Cowley is a dumbass. Yeah, I'm going to go with an actual reporter's input (MG) over Cowley's sarcasm and annoying one-liners. If its Manny saying no, then f*** Manny and the plane he flew in on. But it seems 90% likely this is Ozzie, and I am just floored at how stupid a move this is.
-
QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) Gonzales tweets that Manny feels like a 25-year-old. This is all Ozzie behaving like a child. So this is 100% on Ozzie then. This is just beyond stupid.
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 01:36 PM) :Pierre LF, Vizquel 2B, Rios CF, Konerko 1B, Quentin RF, Pierzynski C, Kotsay DH, Ramirez SS, Teahen 3B Ozzie yet to talk to Manny about playing, lets not panic Is that from someone's Twitter or something? The lineup I mean. Kotsay rakes against Masterson career-wise. Maybe best to sit Quentin for a game if Manny plays, move Kotsay to RF and DH Manny.
-
IF they don't play him tonight (which we don't know yet), either Ozzie is making a stupid decision, or Manny is being a wuss. Given that Manny wants to play and wants to get the big contract next year, the latter seems unlikely. But we'll have to see. PLAY HIM.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) Terminator 2 was the absolute s***. T2 was mostly good. The ending drug on and got cheesy - you might say that's the movie where things started to go downhill, but it was still overall a good flick. I actually like T3 better than T2, but that wasn't a Cameron flick, and I imagine most people will disagree with me on that. Haven't seen Salvation.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) That's about a 100% certainty. Its also such an inane poll and article. It basically says that the people most angry at the political situation, are angry at Obama. Well duh, he's the f***ing President. If it were BushCo in office, you'd see the exact same thing.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) He also writes dialogue that belongs in a soap opera and his villains in both Titanic and Avatar were lol bad. Yeah, I think as far as dramatic pieces go, he peaked at The Abyss, and went downhill. True Lies was fantastic, but it was comedy.
