2010 Minor League Catch-All Thread

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) Scott Elarton was assigned to Charlotte, Justin Cassel was demoted to Birmingham. Cassel has really fallen off the radar since winning the ERA crown in the Southern League in 2008. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 10:59 AM) Yep, it appears that rumors of Vazquez being a mental midget were more then true, I think of "mental midget" equating to a lack of intelligence. I don't think that's the problem here. This is more "emotional house of cards". He crumbles under pressure.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) Ahhh, it's VEISHEA time! Just heard some chick outside my building on a loudspeaker saying "show me your penis". I'm evidently missing some fun while lesson planning. Already? When I was there, they did VEISHEA the weekend leading into dead week, so end of April or beginning of May. Weird that they are doing it so early now.

2010 Minor League Catch-All Thread

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) Red Sox claimed Santo Luis. He was closing at B-Ham, wasn't he? Should be interesting how they shift around relievers. -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) He's pitched 5.1 inning so far.. the biggest stat.. 0 BB's! I hope something's clicked for him. He and Bellamy are the two guys that suppose to move up quickly. Prior to last year, only Bellamy has shown it. O'Neill is a 24 year-old repeating Low A ball. But yeah, his lack of walks, and the 5.00 GO/AO, are encouraging.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) So in other words, we need more stringent regulations about what mergers are allowed. I can live with that. And correct me if I'm wrong...but aren't all the brokerages now considered "Bank holding companies" so that they can take advantage of the bailouts? I'm pretty sure calling them banks is now actually accurate. *breaks back into Buster* No, the great majority in fact are not. There are very few bank holding companies, and very many brokerages of various types. *leaves*

Ryan Braun (the pitcher) with an odd box line: 1 IP, 0 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 0 K. Thanks to 2 Lillibridge errors.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) Yes, completely Ozzies fault that nobody can hit. He needs to be doing more for sure. People put way to much into "oh man, he was batting 5th yesterday and 7th today!!!! Thats gonna throw him off for 2 months!!!!!". Hardy batted 3rd against us one day, then 7th the next. He didn't subcutaneously combust afterwards, our team just can't hit. lol wut?

O'Neill looks good, 2 IP, a bunch of zeros and 3 K. Ciolli turning it back on after a weak start. Started with 5 K in 6 AB, since then he's 8-for-19, 2 2B, 3B.

Serafin not opening the season too well. Torres getting hit around for charlotte.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 08:46 AM) I like those ideas Matt, but I'd also like to be able to integrate my phone navigation directly into my car as opposed to needing two separate navigation (I don't actually have nav in my car, but I don't see the need for having two). In addition, I should be able to listen to the radio via my cell phone, opt for satellite radio if I wanted, and be able to stream baseball and football games on my phone if I so choose. All good ideas as well. When I win the lottery and start a mobile phone company, they will be added to the list when we produce the iPerfect.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 03:09 PM) It's too bad we're handcuffed with Linebrink's contract. Sure would have been nice to be in the running for Valverde. I'd rather spend the money on something we actually need, like a real DH. Bullpen looks pretty damn good to me. Williams has struggled, but its early, and Threets is waiting in the wings.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 08:13 AM) I know, but it was as if no research was done on the guy at all. I'm not saying that was the case, but some of the at-bats looked so pathetic that thought came to me several times throughout the game. I agree that this is a problem with this team, and one of the reasons why I do feel Walker has some responsibility that he isn't meeting. But this particular game, he really did look filthy.
-
There aren't enough LOL smilies in the world to properly address how silly this is. Romero was Absolutely sick last night, you could see it from the first inning. That's a game against that team that pretty much any team on any night is going to lose, 99% of the time.

Sauer walked 3 guys in 6 IP for W-S. I'm not sure he walked three guys in a single game all last year. Matt Hopps with one of the ugliest starts you'll see: 1.1 IP, 11 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 0 BB, 0 K. He also made an error, resulting in those two UER. At least he didn't walk anyone. Silverio was given the day off - he already had 4 errors in his first 5 games and is sporting a .067/.125/.192/.317 line so far at Kanny. Ouch.

About once a year I go and buy a box of some kind of sugar bombs. Its usually either Peanut Butter Crunch or Fruity Pebbles. Then I remember its only tasty for like two breakfasts, then its time to go. When I was a kid, I loved this stuff called King Vitamin. Anyone else ever have that? I wonder if it even still exists. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) I'm an elitist. I buy granola from the bulk section at Whole Foods. I can't stand sugary cereals. Their vanilla almond granola is great.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) hence the "that we already have infrastructure" part of it. All that parking lot space is a waste, all of that could be developments. Sure, that's the part I agree with. I just didn't understand your reference to some sort of lack of mass transit, which didn't make sense.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) We really must've hired the world's dumbest architects. They got completely trumped by Camden Yards at the time, and instead of building it in a place encouraging mass transit they invite a gridlock to the neighborhood. Those were the times though. Efficient urban planning has a lot more street cred now. Are you referring to Wrigley or the Cell? Because The Cell actually did this 100% right. Its right next to one El stop, 3 blocks from another, and squeezed between two Metra-used rail lines where we are now going to get a Metra stop. I'm not sure another ballpark in the country has this as good as we do. I do agree with the overall point though about eschewing a neighborhood type design being stupid. There were alternate plans out there to really develop the neighborhood along with the park, but they were rejected for cost.

We do these three times a year. The new one for opening the 2010 season is up on FS. Enjoy.
