QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) A 0.39 ERA during their rookie season = boneriffic yeah he should have won they Cy Young with those dominating 24 innings and all those quality starts!! Is Joba plural? I guess he could be, but I still don't see how his small sample size of success makes him into a MLB stud coming from a highly regarded prospect. Actually no wait, youre right.. Joba's numbers against the trend are more than enough reason on why we should have called up Poreda.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) Ready for what? He was having a good year this season prior to getting injured. There's many examples you can use, but Joba isn't one of them. I think that plays into the fact that he wasn't ready for MLB, many insiders are quick to point out that Job got his injury because he was rushed by the Yanks and his mechanics are not there. But since everyone seems to have a boner over him over here much like Baseball Tonight... we'll go with several other examples. Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer, Manny Parra, Clay Bucholtz, Gio Gonzalez lol (unless he was still on our team since he would have helped SO much )

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 03:10 PM) Joba f***ing dominated last year and this year?? Bottom line, he wasn't ready.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) Joba? ?

QUOTE (Chet Lemon @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) Why the hell did Aaron Poreda not get called up at the beginning of September? Was that the manager's call or the GM's call? Was it a mutual decision between Poreda and the management? In my view, he would be more effective than Horacio Ramirez, Clayton Richard, and Boone Logan. And surely he would be no less effective than anyone else in the pen, except Jenks and maybe Thornton? see: Homer Bailey, Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlin, Jeff Niemann ect. Bringing stud pitchers up in September before they are ready usually has not resulted in a good thing in recent years. Matter of fact, I can't think of one pitcher who benefitted from it.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 08:25 PM) I would like to say that it would make me incredibly happy for Javier Vazquez to never pitch another game in MLB (not just for the Sox, but for any team). ...and juging by his comments, so would he.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 10:57 AM) So you must have been a lottery winner. Congrats. No I don't think the lottery winners for tickets have been chosen yet... I could be wrong though. You should receive an email either way... accepted or declined.
-
$60 for upper deck reserved? Ouch.
-
They probably won't send them out until later tonight, and you'll get an email either way if you won in the lottery for a chance to buy tickets, or if declined. I got a declined email from the Cubs yesterday evening (they were supposed to send their results out yesterday) Great idea for those who did the Tampa lottery, I totally didn't even think about that.

He had to try something.... Vasquez isn't gonna motivate himself. It's times like these where I really miss Freddy Garcia.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) Honestly, who didn't vote for him? EDIT: It was so long ago. I hope I didn't forget to mention him, although I think he was my #3. whoever left Hurt off this list doesn't deserve to be a Sox fan.

Also good news for us that the Cubs face the rest of the AL Central... except for the Royals. -

Sweet. MILLER PARK. Finally. -
This is GREAT news, as it wouldn't surprise anybody if this is what the Central comes down to. If you had the choice, taking into consderation the entire season and recent outings, who is the arm you go with right now to win 1 game? I think I'd have to go with Floyd right now, and possibly Danks depending on how the rest of his starts unfold. I know Burls would be the popular choice, and he has been pitching much better, I just don't like his history with big games against the Twinkies or most anyone else for that matter.

Talk about a playoff pitching duel atmosphere... for once I'd like to see Javy come out on top of one of these. Does anybody else get the sense the first run wins this matinee, and then a slugfest later on tonight? -

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) I realize Javy is pitching a shut out, but he and AJ are a tad "outside corner happy". Not going inside at all. My mlb gameday just showed he was able to get those last 2 pop-outs to OC by ptiching inside? -

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 12:59 PM) i can see the tigers making a serious bid over the yankees to get CC Depending on how the Brew Crew does in October, I wouldn't be surprised if they throw everything they can at him. They have a lot more $ than some lead on. Just because they lost Carlos Lee and Cordero doesnt mean they didnt offer huge contracts... they did in both cases. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) if AJ is 1-11 lifetime vs. Burnett, shouldnt he be playing the 2nd game instead? maybe they asked Richard who he is more comfortable with? -

re-paying CQ for carrying the team for the last 5 months starts tonight...let's put the women and children to bed and go hunting for dinner! -
Cowley is now speculating on suntimes.com that he did this while punching a locker in Boston? I don't know where he gets his information or if he just makes it up, but all too often he comes up with these nuggets that nobody else knew about, with usually no follow-up when fact is the exact opposite.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) Ouch, not good. Did they say how long the recovery time is? Yes, they touched on it. They said they were gonna use the pin to re-evaluate in a couple weeks. Most likely done for the rest of the regular season, but not definitely. October remains optimistic.

He's carried us for much too long, now it's time to return the favor. Son of a b#*ch.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) The thing that really hurts is that Cowley was the one who was positive about all this, and he was just on the Score talking about how he isnt hearing anything.... Cowley seems to be way more out of the loop than what he seems to lead on... this wouldn't be the first time he jumped to a conclusion this year that didn't turn out the opposite way, for better or worse. That being said, you have a point, everything in the Chicago media has been focusing in on Zambrano's injury with very little to no mention of CQ's injury this week. Even Silvy (not a good reference I know) was under the impression this morning that the Sox were just giving Q a break for a couple days.
