Very embarassing being at the Cell on Friday night with the abundance of BOOS. I know it was in a critical moment of the game, but Pods deserves so much better. Sometimes I really can't understand Sox fans.

CQ's recent struggles have been magnified due to the fact that we have relied upon him to carry our offense when the switch is turned off. Kinda like when Burls struggled early on when he knew (in his head) he basically had to throw a shut-out in order to have a "chance" at winning the game. It was only a matter of time before that pressure started to take its toll in reverse fashion on our newfound stud outfielder. With the offense not producing, maybe he is trying to hard to make something happen because now it is expected out of him.

lowered Rogers' ERA quite a bit today fomr 5.13 to 4.74, and now is the leading contender to start the All-Star game. Amazing how much we suck against struggling weak pitching. Francis may be looking at a no-no bid tomorrow night. -
Hey, it still might be early.... but to gain 4 ((FOUR)) full games on your main division rival at this point is a HUGE statement and stride. Now it's our turn to get out to support and watch this team!!! Pack 'em in for the Rockies this weekend, by that time we'll hopefully be looking at 11 Al Central=

Just for everyone in this thread, I just wrote CQ in 25 times. I think he has now cracked 1,000 votes. I'm in a discussion I cannot win, so I am done. Look I love CQ, we all love CQ. He is the second coming of what I don't know, but yeah, we'd certainly be f'd without him. I never said we as fans have bigger fish to fry..... marketing does. Like selling a game out, but I won't even go there. I don't mind one bit if there is a shade under 20k in the park on any given night. Let's all hope he makes it in so Sox fans can sleep at night.

QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) Who said that? Please provide link. I don't think anyone here said that. Success to us is another Championship. But we support our players in anyway possible. You see we are...oh what's the word...fans. There was a thread that was made a stickey for over a month to write him in... I'd love to post the dozen or so other threads about how he's not on the ballot, yada, yada, unfortunately this place doesnt ever have a working search function. What's the use in being a fan? I love baseball, and I love the Sox. I love to watch the Sox win. Everything else becomes secondary. Would I like to see Quentin in the All-Star game, sure, and I realize the kid can do no wrong in White Sox nation right now. It's not like I am bashing CQ. There are bigger fish to fry. Nobody asks the negative poster's about Contreras being washed up or claiming Thome should be released what is the use of them being a fan. If being a baseball fan is all about supporting marketing for your team, then I bought season tickets for the wrong sport. I'm not sure anybody would want to be Brooks right now with all the negative comments coming from the media about our marketing campaign.
-
Lol, a lot of people on this board seem to think the success of the season will be based on wheter or not Quentin will get to go to the All-Star game. It's not a big deal people. I'm quite sure Francona knows who Quentin is and is fully aware of his numbers this year, I don't think sending him a Q-tip in the mail would all of sudden make him relaize ohh wow, I better not leave this guy off the roster. Neither of the two guys we voted in even got an AB. It's a popularity contest, and yes we can all agree CQ deserves to be there... makeing that the number 1 priority right now is going a bit overboard imo. I'm glad I'm not Brooks either, our new commericals are downright awful, our promotions this year are absurd.

White Sox sign Esteban Loaiza/Option Wassermann

this is awesome news if for no other reaosn that I can wear my 2003 All-Star jersey again. -
meh...this organization and fanbase cares way too much about "writing-in" players for the all-star ballot, going back to Vote Podesednik and Punch A.J. If he makes it, great. If he doesnt, can we just focus on winning some games rather than worrying about getting our newfound star one AB in the mid-season classic?

QUOTE (RME JICO @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 04:57 PM) Has a coach on a 1st place team ever been fired during the season? Not sure, but if you are gonna go ahead and guarantee that the Sox will be in first place until the end of 2009, then this bet is a no-brainer. Thanks for the input. Should be a great couple years on the Southside!

QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 11:49 AM) At this point why wouldn't he? He hasn't called out pitching, our "hitters/offense" deserve worse than what he's said. I never stated that Ozzie was wrong to call out his own team, but that's not to say that his opions are wearing thin with some players and personalities. Ultimately its the players that have to produce.... full teams have quit on a manager before. Again, not saying that will happen either...but it certaily does in every sport.
-
I miss Pods. Not for his glove... but yeah.
-
thanks... right, I knew KW extended him at the end of last year... and from everything I am reading, there are no club options in this deal?? Point being, now that Ozzie is back to being Ozzie with his rant a month, does this start to waer thin with the players and organization? Some of us love Ozzie, some of us loathe him.... I personally love having him in our dugout, but with that comes the negative rants about the Cubs, the media, and now about his own team. Certainly sooner or later this will all catch up with him, and with that being said, I'm no so sure he will be here to carry out that contract.
-
Looking for a little help here with Ozzie's contract... My Kool Aid Cubby cousin wants to make a wager that he will be fired before the end of '09. I figured I come over here and ask the contract experts and make a decison from there.
-
Neither.... David Price is gonna blow both of these NL guys away when the Rays call him up.
-
Never in my wildest dreams would I ever come close to think of saying that I miss Uribe at SS. But I'd be lying through my ass if I said I didn't. At least he puts the team before himself, and always has...

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 20, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) Cmon people SWISHER. He is already on the June calendar that the White Sox gave out, and he NEEDS a slumpbuster. Agreed. There are players who are certainly more deserving, but no player that NEEDS this more.
-
It's gonna be real cold, but I don't think there is any rain in the forcast. Hasn't rained here all day... all systems a go for #9 and to go Saunders on that azz!
-
Magglio and Sheff would be outstanding bench players on this team. I will also go ahead and nominate Javy Lopez for back-up catcher and Boomer Wells to fill the 5th spot in the rotation.

Maybe it will be good to have Thome face his good ole arch nemesis again. I mean, it could'nt hurt seeing that he has been in a slump since he last faced him on Opening Day. -
ehhh, very nice... I still prefer Burls and Danks better. Cool to see the Now & Later effect. Little did I know that Danks was the "NOW"

QUOTE (jackie hayes @ May 20, 2008 -> 10:07 AM) Who was it who said that? Just curious. I think it was Skip Bayless on Cold Pizza or some bs. Nothing that was too big of a deal. Actually I think they were comparing Verlander's vs Buherle's... and really it was no question as to who was more dominant in their respective performance. A pitcher like MB is gonna need some luck and help to get an accomplishment like that.

How big reception will Pudge get on Thursday?
watchtower41 replied to wilmot825's topic in Pale Hose Talk
very interesting. Since the question begs to be asked... would the Sox pull the same move on Thome when that bridge is crossed? Very cool of Bo to take the iniative to do something special as well, since it seems the Sox were a bunch of cheap bastages back then. -
I live 4 blocks away from Wrigley Field. Most would say I am confused, but obviously a very nice and lively place to live in town. It certainly makes for some interesting looks when I walk to the Addison Red Line stop everyday completely decked out for Sox games, but believe it or not the only time any Cubbie fan has actually talked "s***" to me was before Game 1 of the WS. The drunken idioit blurred that Clemens would rock our ass that night, nobody ever claimed the Cubs faitful to have any psychic ability...
