QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:20 PM) Should be no surprise Contreras would wave his no trade. He waived one to come to the White Sox, saying the same thing. I may be the only one on this site that hopes the Sox keep him. Make that two. Jose has been an absolute stud for us. Again, another player that we dont have a ring without him on the team. The trade for Loiaza is still the best move KW has ever made, espeically with the timing.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread

Tried looking over at talkbulls, but does anybody have any good links for some mock drafts besides Simmons' and Ford's over at ESPN? -
Way to go BIG HURT!!! Now he has something to put on the mantle next to that shiny ring.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) He was rated the 12th best prospect in the game by Baseball America in February. Good luck getting better value than that for Vazquez. To say it's simply a "man-crush" that this board has on him is beyond ridiculous, the guy has become a fan favorite in Arizona and is considered one of the best young players in the game by the leading minor league publication. Yeah, it's probably just a man crush. Well I guess the Diamondback fanbase is very easily amused because I dont see "Baseball America's" projection holding up too well with his phat .246 BA and .285 OBP, when he does actually play. Milledge was the top prospect in baseball for year(s), is anybody saying that now?? I'd take Lastings in a heartbeat over Young, and yes, I think he could be had in a deal for Javy.
-
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) Keep in mind it behooves Buehrle greatly to not mention any negotiation on the day in which he is starting. ...one of baseball's unwritten rules--you do not interfere with a starting pitcher on the day in which he starts. kinda makes me want to bet the house on Tampa tonight.

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) If they trade Javy, Kenny better get back atleast the value of Chris Young, El Duque and Vizcaino. Why what have any of these guys done since they left?? I'd hope to get better value. The Chris Young man-crush needs to stop on this board. Carlos Beltran he is not. Hell, he'd be happy to have the skill of Hunter Pence.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 11:24 AM) nice job by the station that carries the white sox to totally botch this!!! there is more than that, im sure they certainly left ESPN 1000 for a lot less, who knows, we could be listening to the Sox on B96 next year.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 10:42 AM) If wrong, the Score may lose the teaspoon of credibility it had left. Well, at least they got decent ratings for this morning. Some things never change. I still havent forgave them for the "Griffey trade" bs
-
Boy, the Jose Contreras hatred fanclub sure has taken in plethora of new members this morning, but then again, I totally forgot about the ring and the 16 straight wins that Vasquez pulled off for us.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 06:11 PM) I also don't buy that it would only take 5 guaranteed years to keep him around. He could get 6+ on the open market, easy I don't see why he wouldn't ask for that sort of deal from the Sox. Well that would be part of this "hometown discount" that many are hoping for... it would already be a HUGE stretch for the Sox to offer 5, 6 is absolutely unthinkable.....and he does state that he wants to stay, maybe even more now than ever before. That being said, I agree with what you have to say in your post here....the likelyhood that we'll get Tom Glavine years out of Burls is wishful thinking. Matter of fact, I cant think of 1 pitcher int he game that I'd throw 5 years at right now, no matter the price. Between this trade-deadline and looming off-season, I see all the hideous contracts from last year start to scale back a bit due to a trickle down effect. Team WILL be much more weary to open thier pockets, and the Yankees are not the only litmus test for this thinking.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 12:37 PM) For a second, I thought KW re-acquired him. Nope, we havent traded for Milledge yet.

The unfortuante thing is our "extra man" streak will most definitely come to an end.

Look what winning 9 in a row did for the Yankees in the wild card race, this season is not quite over..... yet. Still time to put the women and children to bed and go hunting for dinner. But theyre starving.

Oney Guillen?? I didnt see any option for F. None of the above.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:12 PM) http://www.topprospectalert.com/louisville...dinals-hats.htm thanks for posting that, definitely some nice Cards hats on there.... still having trouble finding "one of" their official caps with the Cardinal logo that they wear on-field though. It seems as if nobody carries official college baseball caps. -
Money doesnt buy happiness....nor winning for that matter. Just ask the good ole Georgie.

Thanks for posting that Rock, you really have no idea how much I needed that. Seeing it for the first time was even better.

White Sox vs. Phillies, 6/12/07 (L)

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 01:47 PM) So, it looks like the odds of us getting shut out two straight days is a very good possibility. To go along with the fact that Hamels is a filthy SOB, we've never seen him before. This has the makings of a rough night of baseball, once again. If I could choose between Hamels, Santana, and Peavy, I'd take Hamels in a heart beat. On your team or to face?? Because only a fool would take Hamels over the likes of those 2, not to mention at least 10 others. -

AT&T Park. I really wish I had the opportunity to go to the All-Sgtar game this year, the HR Derby should be a real treat. PNC Park looks gorgeous and nothing but rave reviews from eveyrthing I seen and heard, only problem being, when the game is over, you are still in Pittsburgh.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) Lame rule, and the NCAA isn't doing a good job policing it either. There's been IU football and basketball games that Terry Hutchens has live-blogged for the IndyStar, the past couple years. And there's no way he's the only one doing this. The rule is in effect only during Championship games. On a complete sidenote, those UL baseball hats are pimp. Too bad I just spent a half hour on the web trying to find somebody that actually sells these damn things.....including the school themselves. I have a Louisville hat, but nowhere near as cool as what the baseball team sports -

the NCAA makes plenty of rules that make no sense whatsoever and for no reason, I guess we can chalk this one up and add it to the list. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) Um yeah, Carlos Lee was a true All-Star that season seeing as how the players and coaches voted him in. Podsednik was voted in after the fact by a fan base that seems to love the "Final Man" ballot. 1st half of 2005: Damon: .343/.386/.473/.859 Podsednik: .294/.369/.344/.713 Brian Roberts: .345/.416/.591/1.007 There are others but 2 should be enough. Hey, every team needs an All-Star. I'm guessing Sheets was on the DL again that year? Either that or they couldnt justify Geoff Jenkins getting selected, though he had a much better year than Lee with his robust .265 average (which was even worse in the first half), I guess everybody loves the new guy. Where are the steals and runs scored in your lead-off figures?? Look, I know its trendy to hate Pods around here...but he was getting MVP talk early in 2005 and justifiably so. What's done and done.... easy to say you'd rahter have Carlos Lee on the team right now with the way were hitting. Even if Lee's glove makes Jacque Jones' look golden.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) Thats utter bulls***. Maybe we would have maybe we wouldnt. But your basicly going with would the difference between Carlos and Pods offensively outdo the difference between Iguchi and whoever played 2B. Even though 05 was the one season Pods was actually good for us he did miss 30 or so games and if I remember had a less than spectacular 2nd half. Iguchi had an avg. season nothing special, just did good dealing with having Pods running all the time for better or worse ahead of him. Willie Harris probably would have been the starting 2B if not Iguchi and his numbers really arent that much worse and who knows what they would have been like if he was an everyday player. Without doubt less HR's but possibly more SB's, and similar OBP. Infact in 04 when Willie had a good amount of ab's and games he put up an identical OBP. Now obviously Iguchi is or I should say was the better 2B in 05 and Carlos was the better LF in 05 offensively, which is the biggest drop-off you got to ask yourself. Iguchi to Willie Harris or Lee to Podsenick. In my opinion its between Clee and Pods, and Clee's numbers prob would have been better if he didnt switch leagues having to face guys he has never seen before on a daily basis. Are you really trying to justify that Willie Harris would have won us a championship starting at 2nd base?? Also I'm not so sure Carlos had better offensive 05 than Pods, who was the All-Star I'll ask?? Pods was the best lead-off hitter in baseball fo rthe better half of that season. Again, there is NO WAY we could have signed AJ, Iguchi or Hermanson (no matter how much of a discount some of them came to us at) without these 3 key ingredients to our banner season, we quite simply would not have had the tools.
