  1. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 08:35 AM) Ive seen the billboards for these lately. They seem cooler. I like the one with Jim Thome. I saw that the other day too.... had a nice little quote on there with something to the effect of "I didn't come here just to hear about a championship." WE ARE CHICAGO BASEBALL. Now if only I had the AC/DC disc with me in the car.
  2. Didnt the team travel to Cleveland after the Oakland series??
  3. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 11:32 AM) How is Carmona? a project in the making.... I believe his closer role lasted all of 2 games last year. He can show flashes, however, most of them were in spring training last year.
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) Line drive? If it makes you feel better about yourself, you go ahead and think that that ball was a "line drive". Any competent OFer knows how to put his mit over his head and make a catch. BTW, watchtower, go ahead and try to defend that with the video right there. It'll give the rest of us another good laugh. I don't need to defend... nobody has still answered my question as to what player on this team would have made this "easily catchable ball." But if you want to go ahead and insist that the defense is the problem for the worst hitting team in MLB right now, have at it. s***, I think Pods has more hits in this series than the rest of the team combined.
  5. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 01:01 PM) More Soxtalk hyperbole! Woo! No one is saying that. We're just saying we want Guillen to put his players into the best possible position to win and that he consistently fails to do so. That easily catchable fly ball that let the winning run score bounce off of someone else's head? He's not even being used a defensive replacement. Ozzie is sitting BA either due to total lack of managerial ability or out of spite. I guess option #2 implies option #1. Easy fly ball LOl. Was there an error scored?? Who would have caught that ball on our team?? Anderson doesnt have the speed to catch up with that line drive, nevermind the fact that he doesnt play LF. If you thought Pablo would have caught that, to each his own, but not on a prayer. Pods at least gave himself the opportunity to make that play. We lost the game when we can't get a runnner on 3rd at home with ZERO outs. Jenks actually got lucky with that pitch, it should have been jacked into the bleachers for a walk-off.
  6. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 12:53 PM) Leaving Cintron on 3B with no outs was unexcuseable... That cost us the game more than anything else, IMO. completely agree, if anything Pods had the least to do with the loss last night. At least he gave himself a chance to make the play with his speed....with a frozen rope like that, I dont know many that could have actually got back to the track to even attempt a catch. Nevertheless, complete waste of time trying to defend Pods around here.
  7. Coming from all these BS posts lately, according to the posters here, we'd be undefeated and have already clinched the Central if Brian Anderson was starting and Ozzie was not our coach. Yeah, I'm quite sure Ozzie is sitting Brian to lose games on purpose. Seriously, people. How can anyone honestly say he deserves to start over Erstad and Pods?? Defensive replacement fine, but I've got news for ya kiddies.... Pods didnt lose the game for us last night.
  8. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 12:18 PM) Couple things. Both Duke and UCLA are much better jobs than Kansas. Indiana probably is no longer up there either. And Gillepsie path was different. He turned around disturbingly bad programs whereas Self inherited a powerhouse at Illinois Illinois and powerhouse does not make sense in the same sentence, no matter what era. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 12:24 PM) I thikn Duke is a one pony show, who knows how they will be after the Devil is gone. Assuming Jeff Capel keeps improving his teams through the ranks, I'd like to think he'd be a hihg candidate.
  9. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 12:03 PM) Conspiracy theory #1 Cancelled to rest the bullpen and #2 to give Burls and extra day before his next start. I'd be lying if I didnt think to say that these reasons played a part in the cancellation.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 04:04 PM) Can we send Iguchi down and get a new 2baseman? He is really pissing me off. Seriously. He never comes up big when the situation calls for it.
  11. I'm guessing you guys all still want him sent down immediately after the game??
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 11:53 AM) You should probably refrain from calling me out if you don't read all my posts. I guess that won't stop people from making gross assumptions about myself. What did that have to do with blaming Ozzie? I'm glad Garcia is gone and if Ozzie had a hand in pushing him out the door like I suspect he did then kudos to Ozzie on a job well done. The whole "I wish I could say what I have to say." comment has been talked about by every news outlet and the consensus is that he grew tired of Garcia and the 2 had a falling out. What's more annoying? People supposedly complaining about every thing Ozzie does or the people who b**** about the people who are b****ing about Ozzie? How does b****ing at the b****ers make you any more righteous? Youre right, I can't possibly comment on what your true feelings are about Ozzie or the team unless I read every single last one of your posts, it just seems every thread that I choose to jump into at somepoint turns into an Ozzie bashing session led by you. I can certainly understand if you don't care for the Sox manager, but making assumption after assumption grows old fairly quick. Somebody mentioned the Garcia trade as a point that Ozzie doesnt favor latin players ect., and your reasoning was "it seems Garcia and Ozzie had a falling out." Maybe you are different and like to read between lines, but I'll give Ozzie enough credit not to take him for granted on what he truly feels, he's not going to hold it back wheter a player was born in Venezula or South Dakota. This is an "Ozzie Critic" thread, and where I dont read ALL your posts, I have seen enough of them to see that you don't care for him at all, so I just assumed that your answer about the Garcia trade was another rip on Ozzie, without any crediability whatsoever. I have no problem with people ripping on the team, Ozzie, or the players....nor am I trying to back them up, but if people are gonna constantly b**** all the time over here, why not back up posts with actual facts?
  13. I think its hilarious that most of you are still crying that BMac didnt make the playoff roster. U got to be kidding me. One outstanding start for the kid against Boston on Labor Day and he's the best White Sox starting pitcher in history. I cant wait until he get absolutely shelled against the Halos today so at least some of you will go away. One would have to be a complete moron to put a rookie on a playoff roster over Duque. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) It seems Ozzie and Freddy had a falling out. Or maybe the fact that we had no chance to re-sign him, nor did we want to?? Is anything not Ozzie's fault with you?
  14. I'd still like to think the ball is in Mark's court.... he needs to prove he can be an effective starter again, and amongest all this extension talk, he hasnt shown one flash of going back to the quality start guy he once was. With what he's done for us in the past, many people would argue he doenst have to prove anything and re-signing him long term is a no-brainer. Truth is with our rotation and the way it is set up for the immeditate future, the spotlight shines a lot heavier on Mark than it will for Dye or Gooch. Burls first audition of the season comes Thursday. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 11:31 AM) we better be able to make something out of our $110 Million salary or the 4th in baseball, and it better not be 4th place in our division. What does this have to do with re-signing Mark? Also with the 10+ million that other teams are picking up such as the Phillies, we are ranked 7-8th in payroll.
  15. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) Of course they would. If you are not showing your school total loyalty in the middle of the season, you are getting fired, no matter how good you are or how far you have come. I think this situation more hinges on Florida not showing Donovan loyalty. Theyve always been a basketball school second, not that they have any clue as to how to handle this potential shakeup.
  16. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) Is there is any clear cut indication that he was interested in UK, Florida would have fired him by now. In the midst of trying to win back-to-back national titles?? Yeah, I'm sure they'd fire him.
  17. QUOTE(smalls2598 @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) I thought the gates don't open until 11?? And will the girls be dressed as we see them in your avatars??? I'd like to confirm this as well...... Tom Skilling's forcast Clouding over with chance of late-day showers. Winds off lake drop temps to 50s.
  18. There's been plenty of rumors surrounding this move, but got a call from my friend from Louisville yesterday.... one of her best friends work with one of the top real estate agencies out of Lexington, and was showing houses to Mrs. Donovan all day yesterday. It may not be as clear cut for the casual fan to see, but this move makes a lot of sense for Billy and timing.
  19. This weekend has plenty of sports to get excited about, but I dont think I've been so pumped for a Monday to get here, well ever. It has been too LONG of an offseason. Planning on being at the Cell early Monday with bells on, what time does the lots open??
  20. yo, that lay-up was straight up off the chain.
  21. Villa La Estancia resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The ultimate. http://www.villalaestancia.com/cms/
  22. Thanks for sharing, some of that was actually pretty funny.
