QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 09:55 AM) The more I watch the shows back-to-back, the more I realize how much better Prison Break is than 24. The twists and turns on Prison Break actually make sense, while the 24 stuff is so recycled. How many times can you break out of a prison without it being recycled??

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 10:29 AM) Rush return is likely Kansas sophomore guard Brandon Rush said he’s leaning toward returning for his junior season instead of entering the NBA draft. “I haven’t decided yet,” Rush said. “But I’m pretty sure I’ll be back.” He'll need to stay if he wants to be a lottery pick....and doesnt want to make the same mistake Jaron did. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 08:46 AM) Im not there so I wouldnt know, I only hear from my relatives who are there. But I was not saying its the same as football, OSU is clearly a football school, and football is far and away more popular in the US anyway. Football may in fact be a more popular overall sport, but when it comes to March Madness and great college hoops games its a completely different story. I don't no one person that's gonna get more jacked up to watch the Motor City Bowl over Sweet 16 weekend.....even if their school is in that particular bowl game. College hoops ratings blow away College football as far as championships are concerned. -
QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 07:51 AM) I dont see how they can use so much time to make a game, and figure out stats and ratings and then make a mistake on something like the colors of jerseys or outfield walls. Has anyone looked to see if they did this to many other teams. See stuff like this is a mute point for me...I am more concerned that the game plays well and without any glitches. If I am trying to stike out Ortiz with Contreras, the last thing I care about is the color of the outfield wall at the Cell. If anyone has read any reviews for the game this year, you'd see 2k sports has taken this apporach too. Less bells and whistles, better gameplay. The player models looks outstanding, hell they even have the same gloves they use in real life, but that doesnt seem to impress most MVP fanboys.....you can deal with Frank Thomas being the size of Tony Graffinino as long as the Cell Wall is blue?? CC Sabathia's model is a example of everything "right" about how a player looks in this game. From the huge overhanging gut to the tilted hat, I've never seen more realistic player movements and models. The way Jermaine Dye fields in the outfield probably doesnt extend to these characteristics, I'd imagine thatr would be near impossible to do... they'd have to record every single player in the game's movements, and there is no disc that could hold that much animation, nevermind the fact it wold probably take a decade to have every single MLB player to come in and record how they field. The fact they got most of the batting stances pinpointed is amazing in its own right.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 07:30 AM) . but i do agree with your general point. basketball is second here and for the most part fans aren't really into it. this is one reason i think matta would leave if a job like kentucky came open. Also just out of curiosity, is this a heated topic in Columbus?? I find the rumor interesting, and don't feel bad...there are plenty of coaches that would drop everything on a dime to head for Kentucky. Youre talking about a program with more wins than any other school in history. Its one out of a handful of meccas that clearly seperate themselves from the rest. In my opinion, Tubby isn't going anywhere. Beating Louisville is nowhere close to being enough for the Big Blue faithful. Nor should it be, but Tubby is a fine coach. -

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 07:30 AM) i think in general you are selling ohio state's program pretty short. outside of a season or two they've been consistently good for the past 10 years. maybe not as good as they are now, but pretty strong nonetheless. but i do agree with your general point. basketball is second here and for the most part fans aren't really into it. this is one reason i think matta would leave if a job like kentucky came open. Sure, theyve had decent teams in the Big X, and in no way am I trying to compare their basketball program to the likes of Penn State or Northwestern. But unlike football, they are not in the top 3 of the Big X basketball picture every year. For instance, if Buckeye football finished 6th in the Big Ten behind Iowa, heads would roll and changes would probably be demanded. Why did Cooper lose his job??? On the other hand, if Ohhio State basketball finished 5th-6th in the league, but still made the tournament and almost made the Sweet 16, would anyone in Columbus be upset outside of this year?? Probably not, its kinda of looked at overachieving and putting forth a "good" effort. Kentucky will win 20 games this year, finish 3rd in the SEC, will get a decent 6-8 seed, and you will not find one Wildcat fan that doesnt want Tubby Smith's head served on a platter....even if they do crack the Sweet 16. So history (recent or not) does have some say on how a fanbase reacts and supports towards their team's accomplishments and failures. -

Sure, I got a good chuckle when the Buckeyes fans were storming the court, when they already are #1. It should go without saying to act like youve won something important before, it also goes without saying that Buckeye basketball doesnt get too see too much of this. In the past 10-15 years, the Big X has been dominated by the likes of MSU and Indiana, with other schools such as Wisconsin and Illinois peaking their heads in to steal a title here and there. Sure, there has been a lot of hype surrounding this Ohio State team dating back to pre-season rankings, but I can't imagine being a fan of Ohio State basketball is really intense experience like some other "elite" programs look at how to celebrate and support their team. Just liek much of the rest of the Big X, Ohio State is a football school first and formost.... and when their basketball team does well, it seems like "out of the ordinary" and gives reason to cherish the moment at a higher level (because who knows when this might happen again approach) Jim Jackson's and Michael Redd's dont grow on trees down in Columbus. So it still may not be right that they "storm", but in someways at least it is understandable. Jimbo, please tell me I am havnig trouble reading your post saying that KU will go down in Norman tonight?? I don't know, these arent your Grandpapi Sampson's Sooners anymore. Dont let the late season paranoia set in....we are a non-stop freight train right now. We almost doubled the spread on Saturday night, and we were favored by 20+ -

Wrigley is not as bad as most of us Sox fans make it out to be....the problem more lies within the team that plays there and that drunkard Ronnie Woo Woo. I'll take Wrigely any day over the House that Ruth built or Fenway.

QUOTE(vandy125 @ Feb 23, 2007 -> 11:10 AM) I bought the one last year just because it was the year after the Series and I wanted to see a highly rated Sox team (how could they not be). It turned out to be a terrible game. The game play was absolutely sickening. The Sox were ranked 9th in the league. The Cubs were ranked higher than the Sox (3rd or something). It had a messy menu. Etc. Etc. Needless to say, I am not buying this year's version of the game. I am going to just download the updated rosters for MVP 05. Last years version did suck. But then again, so did most of the next generation sports games on their first go-around. This year, all the sports titles have dramatically improved and with 2k sports hiring the main mastermind behind the MVP series, one would think this game will be great.... no brainer. I think its funny that all the EA fans will stick by a 2 year old game with ancient graphics over getting the current MLB title that has been essentially made by "the precious MVP" MVP '05 wasnt even that great, '04 was the best version by far.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) Russell Robinson out for ISU @ KU. Self declared him questionable for Monday's game as well.... I guess kinda of bad sprain, comparable to turf toe, but not turf toe. I sure as hell hope they get him back for the Texas game. We need his D against their backcourt. Whats more concerning though, these type of injuries dont heal overnight or even in a week. I'd hate for this to hinder him for the rest of the season -
QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 01:59 PM) This is a recap of season 5. You could prolly skip every few hours and get the gist of it. http://www.fox.com/24/episodes/season5/7am.htm Don't read.... rent or buy all the seasons from the beginning. Yes, it take time. Yes, it is worth the time it takes. The only way to truly know the life of Bauer. I'd hate to read a cliff notes version of Season 5. That was probably the best theyve had.

Its tough to expect last years numbers every season out of JD, but I really hope that he has another outstanding season so we are not left with much of an option but to keep him aboard. Perhaps KW best free agent signing ever? -
http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/858/858986.html Instead of adding a bunch of new useless bells and whistles this year, 2K sports is finally realizing that they needed to take the core game, and start most everything from scratch....improving on the gameplay, technique, and realism that baseball fans have been searching for since the year before MVP disappeared. (The last MVP was complete crap) At any rate, 2k sports took the iniative to bring aboard MVP's gameplay designer to assure the most authentic and complete baseball game weve seen to date. This year's installment best feature is sure to highlight the signature style for each player in MLB. The way one bats, wears their cap, length of pants, every last detail is in the game.... previews have the 360 version looking a bit better than Playstion 3 right now. from IGN: Everything from a player's batting rituals at the plate to facial expressions have been captured in this year's game, making them seem like their real-life counterparts. Player accessories have also been personalized as well, so if an athlete wears things like baggy pants, wrist bands or a certain type of glove, they'll be properly represented. Player models have also been improved to with accurate physiques for each athlete. No longer are there simply tall or stocky character models; larger players like Bartolo Colon or C.C. Sabathia will actually have guts in the game (maybe now they'll actually hit a treadmill -- although I'm not holding my breath).

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) Well my guess on the update with Wisconsin losing is that Wisconsin would be #2 midwest, OSU #1 (if that is allowed). OSU gets a #2 in the east for the reason that Lexington is actually closer to Columbus than Chicago. But Wisconsin is the closest school to Chicago that will be in the tournament and has a shot at a 2 seed. (Doubtful Marquette gets up there and Milwaukee is slightly closer to Chicago.) If and WHEN the Badgers lose again, youre likely to be #3. Dont count out SIU on grabbing that #2 seed in the midwest. It CAN happen. A loss to the Buckeyes this weekend and you can forget about being the top 5. Also, the selection committee wouldnt bump OSU down to a #2 simply becuase they want Wisconsin to play at the United Center and the rules wont allow for 2 teams from the same conference to be #1 and #2 in the same bracket. -

QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 03:13 PM) In response to where they were going, I imagine that Jamar was driving Carlwell back to the dorms where I assume Carlwell lives as a Freshman before the blizzard hit. There is a bus to the apartment complex in Savoy, but it stops running at like 11 P.M, useful for getting into campus, but not for getting back (something the University and the city might want to address). Ok, I have to admit that I don't know U of I campus very well, but if there was a party going on at Jamar's apartment... why would he be the one to take Brian "home" I doubt we'll ever hear where they were going (or what to get) but there is more than enough dots that do not connect here.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 10:32 AM) I liked last night's episode, but the Jack and his dad thing is getting a little old. Oh and the Morris being drunk or an idiot is also not very interesting. LOGAN IS BACK!!!! Of course, most might expect this to happen at somepoint.....but LOVE it. Especially now that he looks like a true Norsman. LOl Just a huntch, I don't think his dad is gonna be around for too much longer....this assisnation attempt on Palmer should be interesting though. As far as Morris goes, I'll say it again... there's still something not right about him. Might be hiding something or alternative motive, there's too much forshadowing going on with him

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 11:56 AM) Most importantly, Robinson is our best defender, he shuts down his opposition. KU has been using alot of 3 gaurd sets, and even threw in a 3-2 zone yesterday. JuJu needed to play like a big yesterday, Darrell stepped up in his presence. Some wil argue, UNC has a deeper bench, KU is just as equal if not better. I love how Kstate threw condoms and live chickens at the ku bench. My favortie is they actually created a Chant sheet(ala duke). One of the chants was Dead beat Dad to Rush...the only problem is the dead beat dad is giles...they are really dumb. Heard about that... LOl, its a good thing they were all wearing black, because that place quickly turned into a funeral. I love how they actually "expected" to win this game.... because of Huggins litt'l prediction. I guess now all the purple farmers can take their chickens out to the shed, because the Jayhawks just went Bauer on thier azz. 24. -

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 10:26 PM) Sherron Collins what a man.....thanks for dressing up in black and making all that noise Kstate....now go home... Rock chalk. Did not like the way JuJu played at all last night, but I guess I have to complain about something. Make that 2 dozen in a row in Manhattan. Also, I completely agree from a chemistry standpoint, Self would be a fool to insert Collins in the starting lineup at this point in the season, especially with the way they have been playing. Right now and into March, we will have the deepest team in the nation. Russell may not have the stats, but the guy is clearly the smartest player and best decision maker on the team. -

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) Guess we can end all talk of the mighty MVC and focus on SIU, their damn good What do you think about our Hawks tonight... surpring at only 6 point favorite. Tough to say, espeically seeing on how they are clicking on all cylinders right now, but I think they are gonna be tested in the Little Apple tonight. Holding the Huskers to under 40 for an entire game is tremendous defensive accomplishment, and we are good enough to blowout KState again....but I kinda feel like we are due for a close game. I actually wouldnt mind it.... they need to be tested on the road.
