QUOTE(BurlyMan56 @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 11:09 AM) While talking to Joe...My buddy goes up to him and Joe, ya really gotta fire Scott as the agent, we need ya here. Crede ignores him and then my buddy again says, Joe I wasn't kiddin. Then Joe kind of mumbles with a laugh and says I'm going to need him in the next few years. After that, I had to welcome Josh Fields to the South Side. It stung He's gonna need him??? I'm really not liking Crede and Burls' comments coming out of the weekend. As for the Fest itself, MUCH much better. I was felt more comfortable with the seperate rooms for auotgraph lines. However, the Sox still have much room for improvement as these autograph wristbands have proven to be more valuble than gold to some of these people going to the Fest. The layout was a little confusing and the multiple floors did take its toll after awhile, especially with the "fire escape" staircase that was basically forced to be used at times with the construction on the 5th floor. But overall, much improved over last year debacle, and it seems they are making efforts to make this a better experience for all. For the first time, I went straight to the garage sale this year, my buddy picked up a game-used Contreras jersey, which I was looking for as well, but we were the 2nd group to come into the garage sale and one person picked up at least $5000 worth in all the premier players jerseys as soon as they opened. So no Contreras jerseys left, but I did pick up a really nice game used A.J. bat (still has pinetar and dirt on it) which I was lucky to have him sign later. I didnt go on Saturday, but still managed to score some great autos. Was able to get Contreras, Cintron, and A.J. on Friday night and got Garland and Burls on Sunday. Actually Burls signed my WS program twice LOl....once in black once in Silver, didnt think the first one would stick. Gives it great character though. I told him not to call Century 21 just yet.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jan 24, 2007 -> 11:27 AM) Also, how long before they reveal that the blond kid is actually Jack's son? Ohh snap... didnt think of that, great call.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 07:25 PM) I'm new this season to 24. I had never watched it before because I always missed the beginning of the season and felt it would be too difficult to catch up. Friends told me this year I could watch and be okay not having seen the first two seasons. This is actually Day (Season) 6, but well worth it to go back and rent/buy all the previous dvd's.

I forget what they charged last year?? Obviously it should have been more... especially with people getting up to 100$ a pop on craigslist. $30 this year isnt horrible, but certainly not reasonable either. It basically puts the event on par with other major sports memoribilia shows as far as admission goes now-a-days.

FAMILY MATTERS!!! Season 6 here is shaping up to be one for the books. What y'all think about his brother 'Gray'

Looking forward to the weekend... will be there on Friday and Sunday. A little disappointed that Dye and Thome are not on the list as of right now, but El Titan De Bronze in attendence is a huge bonus.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jan 17, 2007 -> 01:06 PM) That game last night was incredibly exciting. Durant is just ridiculously talented, that wasn't even one of his better games. Too bad he got basically no help on defense. That team is going to struggle against better teams because of their lack of size and post scoring, unless of course Durant just goes nuts. Couldnt have said it better myself....but boy, is it fun to watch Durant try to beat these "elite" teams all by himself. He IS the best frosh I've seen in years. I was also very impressed by Kentucky's [play last night on ESPN, and as of late. Granted a crap South Carolina team last night, but the Wildcats have flown under the radar for much of the year, and now have won 11 in a row. Randolph Morris is looking awfully tough inside, and when their 3 gunners (Crawford and Bradley)are hitting...this team is gonna be awfully tough to beat in a stacked SEC. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 12:12 PM) In the last shot of him in that episode, his eyes were shut and he wasn't moving. It was a brief one, but they threw it in. Does anyone remember if they did the silent clock count at the end of the episode? I don't think they did. I'm still annoyed they didn't do a silent count for Tony last season. Buchanan confirms that "Black Jack" (Manning) is dead. There is no gray area here.... EDIT I stand corrected, apperantly I assumed, something that cannot be done in 24 as we all know. There was no confirmation of Curtis' death. What I get from the first four hours.... Nobody will be safe from Bauer this season, including himself. He's saved the country several times now, with "BIG" terrorist plans, and what does he have to show for it. I think we'll see Jack's character chancge a great deal in this season.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) I think Oden comes back. I'd like to think this all depends on who is in line to win the lottery with the most ping pong balls. Of course, there are no guarentees, but I dont see anyone excited to jump to play for Atlanta or some s*** team like that. -

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 09:19 AM) Yeah I had 3 NBA players in various classes. Gooden, Hinrich and Collison. They are normal people, and they may even respond to you, if you dont puke on your shoes. Yeah, even at at a school that sleeps, eats and breathes basketball.... the players are just "other" students, students with an incredible amount of pull.( I used drool over the endless boxes of nikes they got delivered every week.) Lived down the hall from Pierce, LaFrentz....Kenny Gregory and Lester Earl LOl. Theyre all really down to earth guys looking for some fun just like the rest of us -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 11:29 AM) BTW, Pac10 Big 12 Challenge announced. Very pumped for this in the upcoming years....hopefully much better matchups than the ACC/Big Ten has given us in recent years. There still is too much of a lull period between the elite thanksgiving tournaments and the start of conference games. Schedule makers need to realize this to keep interest through bowl season. It's been awhile since I've peaked my head in this thread.... but ROCK CHALK BABY. -
QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 11:39 AM) soccer will never be big here. I'm not so sure about that.... the last World Cup rating were not too bad, and I want to say I read somewhere that more kids play organized soccer than any other sport

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 02:48 PM) After attending for several years I have come to the opinion that Soxfest is overrated. Your thoughts? In many aspect yes, it is overrated. No "fan fest" should be as straining and irritating as the past few Soxfests have been. But not overrated in such way that makes it a bad event or something NOT worth going to, depending on the person you are and what you go for. It is a great fan experience, well maybe not in 2006, but this was not the White Sox organization's fault. Many people will never attend Soxfest again because of last year, and for different reasons, rightfully so. Here's hoping that the new venue will pump new life into an event that should be heralded by diehard White Sox fans on an annual basis. I've always thought the seminars and the garage sale is great, but I do like collecting a few autos of my favorite players as well. Where Spring Training can be a great outlet to obtain autos as well, but for the most part, I am one to leave meeting players at the ballpark for the kiddies. Its nice to have an opportunity to meet and thank a favorite player, in a much more casual setting..... without having to act like some type of stalker or memoribilia hound at a ballpark.

looks like they went pretty quick indeed..... If anybody has any extra Saturdays to part with and sell to me, I will make sure of it that good karma will come your way throughout all of 2007, and possibly beyond. Thanks

Do y'all think these will go super fast tomorrow?? Anybody trying to get a few?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 01:24 AM) If he ever hit free agency, he's a player I'd want the Sox to throw billions of dollars at. Where there is no way that I can't deny that he is an absolute horse, and ace of most any staff.... I wouldnt want him anywhere close to the Southside. Much along the same lines as Freddy, he puts his stats and himself well before any team achievement. If a CF misplays a ball, I don't want 3 walks and 5 unearned runs to follow just because of lost concentration and frustration over teammates.

QUOTE(salty99 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 11:51 AM) I was thinking the same thing considering Raines isn't even with the White Sox anymore. That's what the "nevermind" was for You think the Braves went to Leo Mazzone before they dumped guys like Maddux, Avery, Glavine, ect?? No, Mazzone took the rebulding tools that they gave him and won more divisions.

QUOTE(salty99 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) Oh I don't know, maybe because he's an expert on pitching. Wow, that's pretty deep. Maybe we should have consulted with Tim Raines before we re-signed Pods because he is an "expert" in base stealing. Oh wait... nevermind. What has happened to the collective IQ of Sox fans this winter??

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
watchtower41 replied to BobDylan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There's only one way to look at this trade..... addition by subtraction. Our rotation WILL be better next year. Thanks for the good times Freddy, but the bad way outweighed the good. From being drunk and hungover on his first start this year against the Indians on ring day, to "not caring" about runners on first base, because they "throw off his concentration" He has never been a team guy, say what you will about what we got for him, bottom line is, he is not worth much for one year....nevermind the fact that we won't be able to rate this trade until a few years from now... we may have made out as the much bigger winner here. There's a lot of people on here with foggy minds about or player's values and that was quite evident after everyone screamed about the Cotts trade. Freddy and his bong were certainly not going to be back with us in 2007, its tiime to stop falling in love with our players around here. -
QUOTE(salty99 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 10:40 AM) and he said noone consulted him about the Garcia trade...ummm ok. and why would they?? Last time I checked, Coop doesnt make the business decisions for the team

I still don't think the bomb he hit off Colon in the 9th at Cell in 2003 has landed yet.... as trendy it is to hate Bonds for the obvious reasons, his potenital numbers at the Cell would be downright absurd.

Scott Podsednik Re-Signs with White Sox

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 12:12 PM) Hope that he improves next year and stop b****ing. That's my advice. When did Pods whine or b*tch? He was the one player the blamed himself for the team unachieving all season. -
Are people really still b****ing about losing a guy with an over 5 ERA that couldnt hold a lead if his life depended on it?? Was there an outing without an earned run?? Lets not forget all the runs that were unearned becuase of the shotty d behind Cotts... he was horrible. One career year in 2005 out of this guy and some of you are acting like we lost Dennis Eckersley today....we should be happy he gave us that and send him his walking papers with a smile on our face. I really don't know what KW has to do to somewhat gain the trust of Sox fans. Most of you are crying that we should have got more.... would you had rather released him t o waivers for nothing?? His best YEAR is behind him.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) He's still a relatively young, cheap lefty reliever who is a year away from one of the best relief seasons in the league. Maybe with a better pitching coach, he'll develop something more than a 91 mph fastball and nothing else. Cotts was worse than Marte could have ever imagined in his worst year last year. How soon you all forget. Don't get me wrong, great guy....but close to a special pitcher. Seems like we lost another fan favorite judging by the reponse, I love the move because now I won't have 16 year old teenie boppers with "MRS. NEAL COTTS" signs.
