QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) I guess the name of the game this offseason is "sell low". I'm shocked that we couldn't get more for Cotts. I've seen Aardsma pitch a lot, and he throws about 95 mph with absolutely no movement or secondary pitch. BTW, good luck to Cotts surviving those day games. What has Cotts done to merit more in a trade?? Win a ring?? I am shocked that anybody is even interested in him, he was throwing BP all of last year. I dont think he held a lead once this entire season. ONCE.

Not that pre-season poll count for anything...other than reference for discussion, but it seems that there a lot of teams, especially this year that are wrongly slotted by max potential they could possibly achieve. Where it should be earned. Ohio State has a chance to be really good, hell they may win it all, but do they deserve #4 coming in?? Were they even ranked at the end of last year?? 1 player shoudl not make that kind of immediate impact. They should earn that respect. I also agree that Pittsburgh is way over-ranked, but if the Big East is the best conference in the country, I suppose they deserve a Top 5 team. I don't see Pittsburgh winning the Big East though, that will belong to the Hoyas. Aaron Gray=husky version of Eric Chenowith. The Hoyas were a very dangerous tourney team last year, and return everybody, they deserve the credit over a decent Pittsburgh team that lost their leadership with Krauser. The SEC looks to be stacked, when was the last time, if ever, have you seen Kentucky picked to finish #4 in the conference?? Obviously, its gonna be real tough for the Gators to win again, but I do see Tack Minor coming back and contributing at LSU for another deep run into March. Say what you want about Glen Davis, but the guy has skills that Robert Traylor couldnt even dream about... he has the goods for his size. Nevertheless, I see a lot of teams that should have something to prove, but they are already very high on this poll. UCLA prove it, Wisconsin prove it, Alabama prove it, A&M prove it. At the same time, I don't see how Witchita State and Southern Illinois are left off this list and how the hell did Depaul get 11 votes?? A great year in store indeed..... -

I'm hearing NCAA is much better....especially with tackling. I'm hoping I like it better than some of the reviews I am reading, but I thought NCAA was subpar, I couldn't imagine going to something worse. I guess they also did not put Madden or Michaels back in the game this year, no different camera angles, and people saying this 'superstar" mode is a complete joke -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) For me, Madden 06 was a great game, and not much else needs to be done. The control of the FB or OL during a run could be fun however. I will be picking it up for sure. I thought it was horrible and showed that it was rushed out for 360 last year. They didnt even have a dynasty mode. -
To have any chance of winning the division...

QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 04:45 AM) The White Sox MUST sweep detriot this weekend it would get it down to 5.5 games with around 50 to go So if we lose 1 game this weekend, we are mathmatically inelgible for the Central crown?? This division is far from over, and nothing is going to be decided this weekend. -
The White Sox fanbase is turning more and more into Red Sox nation every single day. Ive never seen so many so called "fans" give up on a team that currently holds a playoff spot. So be it here on soxbandwagontalk. The most crucial week of the season for the Sox, when they need our suport the most... and nodbody can put an ounce of faith in this team. Pathetic. Its like youre going to the games expecting to Boooooo. There was more energy in the Cell last year with 30,000 than it is full this year..... but go ahead and keep b****ing and whining, because that's what classy fans do. How do you expect our boys to kepp things on the right track if nobody believes in them?? So greedy the majority of this fanbase has become... We should all be proud to be a White Sox fan, lately most fans sound like the biggest bunch of asses this side of the AL.

Anybody Else Getting Burned on this Grinder Party Thing?

Anybody know what to expect out of these?? What former Sox player will be in attendence?? -
Its pretty obvious that ESPN chose the Steelers because they benefitted by using the award as an outlet for Big Ben's first public apperance since the accident. Gotta remember with MNF on ESPN now, football will always reign supreme on this network over any sport in the future. Should be interesting on how they handle the mlb playoffs with the NFL season getting hot and heavy at the same time.

I'm finally off of the Podsednik bandwagon (long)

QUOTE(KeithFranklin @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) I always thought that one of the big reasons to like a player like PODs offensivly is that not only can he steal a base, but also because the players batting get better pitches to hit because of the pressure a base stealer adds. Doesnt Iguchi, Thome, Konerko, Dye see more fastballs if PODs is on base? No, because like many have pointed out, Pods does NOTHING positive to help this team. I've made this case several times throughout this thread, but I guess because there is no stat for it, it doesnt count (at least at soxtalk) -

Great, another year, another player that we gave up a half week to vote in, that won't even get an AB. -

QUOTE(Damen @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) I still don't get this. Travis Hafner is a better hitter than Paul Konerko, because the numbers prove it. That doesn't mean I'm rooting for Hafner to do well, unless he's playing the Twins or Tigers, it just means I can recognize reality. You can root for you own guys to do well and still understand that other players in the game are better. It's called not being 7. See that's where I differ from most "so-called" Sox fans on this board. I agree Hafner is an outstanding hitter, Hafner's numbers may even be a shade above Paulie's (even though he's the only player on his team with over 60 rbi's, but whatever) Does that mean I should be obligated to want to have Hafner on the White Sox and should root for him more than Konerko?? Not a chance. Hafner has never hit over 40 HR in his career, Paulie will do it for his 4th consecutive year this season. Not to mention Pronk has never even taken a whiff of playoff baseball, let alone hit a slam in the WS. Should I have rooted for the Astros in the series last year too just because they had better aces on their staff?? Grass is always greener somewhere else around these parts.... -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) Haha, alright...you win. Pods has a lot of worth in fantasy leagues. I cannot argue his usefulness to this team, then. My God, are you good. Changing your tune?? Before you said he did NOTHING positive for this team, and can do NOTHING right. If you have to keep arguing your case, does that give you more confidence in making believe you are right?? No all you comback with is quoting the poster on top of you yuo I'm pretty sure even the biggest Pods haters on this board can admit that he DOES in fact do positive things for the Chicago White Sox. This thread is useless, your "comeback" reasoning has gone way past pointless, your posts have nothing to offer other than "I HATE PODS," obviously there is nothing that anybody, including Pods, can do to reverse how much you dispise him as a player and on the White Sox. So we'll agree to disagree, I know Pods is not the best LF in baseball, but he is on the White Sox, and for that reason alone I will support him as much as I can. I guess you can go back to practicing your bunts. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) He wants you to be a homer. Hate everyone that's not on your team, and love everyone unconditionally without ever questioning their ability if they are on your team. Never in this thread do I claim Pods to be a gold glove winner.... nor did I rally people to "HATE" Pronk or anyone else thats not on this team. Sure Hafner is a great ballplayer, does that mean he should get more love than Konerko on a WHITE SOX board??? Why shoudl I root and love players from other teams??? I came here to justify Pods against the haters in this thread that say he does absolutely noting right or positive for this team. If you truly think that, you are CLUELESS. Call me a Cubs fan, do whatever your little heart desires to make you feel better about yourslef becoming a GM someday. Ask any fantasy player that owns Pods if he doesnt do anything postive for the Sox. LOl He ranks just as high as any leadoff hitter not named Soriono. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) Jesus Christ. Take it easy there, killer. If we knew you were Lisa Dergen, we would've been nicer to you. No, I just don't treat the players on my beloved team as if I were a Cubs fan. I find it funny that nobody in this thread cares to mention on how much Pods will get into SP's heads and out of their groove by making himself their top concern. No pitcher or defense wants Pods on base, yet every time he is up you see him with a full count. If he does get a hit or takes a walk, Iguchi benefits huge from several pickoff attempts.... usually resulting in 1-0, 2-0 count. By the time Iguchi's AB is over, regardless of the outcome, between pickoffs and actual pitches, we have the opposing pitcher throwing close to 15 times for two batters. The upside is one of the HUGE crooked number innings that we come to take for granted when all cylinders are kicking. But you guys are all right, Pods does nothing to help this team. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) Who is attacking Hafner on this board? He is a beast. Exactly nobody is attacking him here...why would they??? He is more beloved and respected than players on our own team. Of course Rob has played Left, we can all agree.... Has he started?? Even when Pablo has been hurt and Pods was slumping??? -

Should be great to see all these same people that are always b****ing to shut up again once Pods goes over .300 in the 2nd half. The same people in this thread that said we should have relased him to waivers at the beginning of the season. Pure ignorance. Two things or threads you can always rely on seeing at soxtalk Overwhelming hatred for Podsednik. Overwhelming and Overrated love for Mark Buehrle and Jerry Owens. Afterall, they are both the present and the future. :headshake No coincedence that one of the most beloved White Sox players takes a bigger beating than Travis Hafner on this board. Ohh well, must be the soxtalk good ole Cubs fan philosophy kicking in again. Who cares if a player is on your team, if you dont like him, F him. Thanks for the good jokes though... Pablo and ROb playing better D in Left. f***in hilarious, I'm quite sure thats why we see them there so much when Pods was slumping. Has Rob even played LF this year?? LOl I know Pablo has, I think Anderson is still trying to help him up off the ground after diving for a routine fly ball and letting it roll to wall. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) Hasn't Owens increased his average by quite a bit over the first half also? Considering he's up to .249, and IIRC he was down around the Mendoza line for a while. he has improved greatly, and I'm extremely happy for his progress... problem is, there were more than a few people on this board that wanted Owens starting in front of Pods or Anderson when he was below the Mendoza line. If Pods beat Ricky Henderson's sb record, people around here would still b**** about him.... Thinking Pablo or Rob Base would do better for us defensively in LF is ludacris....... how many passed balls on dives would it take, doubles turned into triples, for this theory to actually make sense to some?? -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Right now we could replace Pods with about 25-26 other team's leadoff hitter and we wouldn't lose a step. A great majority of them would be a major upgrade as well. I suppose you think Juan Pierre is one of them too.... :headshake Pods will never get respect on this board, oldest news around. I'm am STUNNED someone has not brought up Jerry Owens name and the fact that we needed to call him four months ago. Nevermind the fact that Pods increased his average by over .150 points over the course of the first half. -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) Why would SF sell their best pitcher while still in the NL west race? They would'nt which is why this rumor has no merit. They are still in the NL West race and very much alive in the Wildcard race, gettig Vasquez from us would make a lot more sense than BMac.... they wouldnt let a vetran ace just go in the middle of race, no matter how "out if it" the front office thinks they are......
-
Probably not the way he deserved to be added, but good fro Liriano, he obviously deserved a spot on this roster, someway, somehow. Now that he's in...Oz should scratch Rogers from starting.
-
Besides, he already thanked us last night.....
-
I'm not saying he is a greedy bastage...I love JD, I just think the White Sox will start to look at Sweeney or even possibly Fields next year, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
-
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 08:10 AM) Like i wanna see him win, but im afraid of injury or messing his swing up. This will not mess JD's swing up.... he wants to get his paper from the Yanks next year, he will continue to have a torrid second half.

Pardon my Palehose, but I got some good vibes about this WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just read this in the whitesox press release.... I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly didnt Podsednik get the most votes ever for the final spot?? I also thought he had the greatest margin of victory, but this would suggest otherwise........ Last season, White Sox fans, players and staff made a strong final push to help Scott Podsednik land the last All-Star spot as he narrowly defeated Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees. Pierzynski needs similar support as he tries to take over first place from Liriano.
