QUOTE(FLsouthsider @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 04:52 AM) He did indeed play in the Crosstown Classic that year, though I have no idea what uniform number he wore. The game was at Wrigley that year. The Crosstown Classic was an exhibition, so that's why he doesn't show up on baseball-reference.com. If I remember correctly, he ripped a double in that game.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 05:28 PM) By the sounds of that article they would be happy to have Uribe back..... over the likes of the Royce Clayton's of the world, I can't blame them.

If the Reds hit anything like they did against the Cubs, the Brew Crew could very well find themselves 2.5 by Sunday night, 3rd place by next Tuesday. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 10:26 PM) I really wonder what happened to closing it. Anytime now would be good. -
KW slides another one past. Trust me, I have no intention of giving KW any bit of credit for this piece of chit lackluster season.... But for whatever reason, he just knows when to say when.

In the past couple years havent they flown before and after the game prior to the fireworks starting?? I could have sworn I saw rockets and roman candles coming out of their arses last year. -
Cubs claim Podsednik; Pods still here (for now)

QUOTE(TheOcho @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 10:37 AM) I hope your right... but I won't me pissed if we get nothing in return. This thread makes me laugh since a friend of mine(Cubs fan) called me yesterday and said something along the lines of, "Dude, I just read we are looking to get Pods!!" He was happy... made me laugh. LOl, I just asked my die-hard Cubs fan best friend if he heard the news, and he replies, "Yeah" before he gave me a look like he wanted to kill me. Good luck with that experiment, but I could actually see the Cubs benefitting from Pods right now. He could be very effective for them at the top of the order. -

I'd like to think Murton is actually obtainable here. The Cubs are really desperate for a sparkplug... -

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 9, 2007 -> 08:10 AM) So the Cubs are going for the former Twins outfield. Maybe next year they will sign Torii Hunter and have all three guys I think they are only targeting the former Twinkies who are awful defenders. -

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) Wtf were they doing with Gallardo today? He gives up 8 runs in 2 innings and you run him out there to get his ass kicked some MORE? Holy s***, that's terrible. At least Prince is raking again?? Wow, theyre awful. -

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 10:56 AM) The Brewers need to stop pitching Chris Capuano. It's become an absurdity. Woulldnt be surprised if they slotted in Manny Parra for a start or two. They need to change up something.... -

why not, all the Cubs fans were quick to buy Detroit hats last year, even though half of them couldnt name a player on that team. Hell, I picked up a retro Brewers bp jersey last week when I went up to Miller Park for Chorizo Day. Now there's a concept I cant get enough of, a day at the ballpark to honor a mexican sausage. Sweet bobblehead though. -
this one had some interesting stuff in it as well.... http://www.brewersforum.com/forums/ there was a great one that someone posted much earlier in the season though, and now I cant find it for the life of me. It was dedicated in this being the Bre Crew's year, but the search function cant seem to loacte it.

I like this move for the Indians win now. Granted, Lofton is nothing close to what he was with them during his first stint, but nonetheless, Sizemore and Lofton at the top of that lineup will be very dangerous on the basepaths.

QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 06:14 PM) I sure wish the Sox had the Tiger's problems with pitching Verlander 11-3 Bonderman 10-2 Durbin 7-3 Miller 5-3 Grilli 5-2 Jones 27 saves Seay 2.96 ERA in 36 games and don't forget Zumaya will be back next month. I also wish the Sox had the Tiger's problems with hitting 17th blown save of the season yesterday. Not too good right there....

Of course the Halos are interested in Konerko.... their fans are still drooling over the monsterous 1st inning bombs in the ALCS. Always fun to get addicted to feeding the hand that once bit them.

QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 05:33 PM) Harrelson said Javy would start game one, and undecided would start game two. My guess is undecided will be replacing Day on the big league roster. Makes me feel great about the nightcap that I'm holding tickets for tomorrow.

Certainly far from a banner season for the Palhose, but beating the Injuns at the Jake never gets old.

Even when there is little to no motivation to get things going, Konerko took it upon himself to right his own ship. We all kinda expected that this might be an "off" year for Konerko, and he is proving that even though he may slump for a month or two, we'll probably not see 2003 from him ever again. After the incredible year last year, Paulie's strides right now are making me happier than ever that this guy is our captain and locked up for years to come. With everything so negative surrounding this team this year, a bounce back like this deserves some credit.... he's one of the hottest hitters in baseball since moving into the second half.... As of yesterday.... Konerko has been tremendous in the month of July, batting .380 with five home runs and 13 RBI in 14 games.
