  1. QUOTE(smalls2598 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 09:42 AM) Is there any truth to the rumor that Thome will be playing 1st base this weekend? Edit: I should mention that i read it on a fantasy baseball site... I sure as hell hope so, I need him to play 5 games at 1B for him to even qualify for the position. Fantasy, that is.
  2. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 10:44 PM) He should get booed. He was a lazy hotdog. Him getting traded was a great day. Couldnt agree more, there are very few bigger "ME" players than Carlos Lee. This team does not win a ring with him on the roster, in the clubhouse, in the field. Yes, I said it. Great hitter yes, but my praise stops there. Carlos Lee is not the type of player I'd ever want on this team, because thats the least of his cares..... team. I do wonder if he'll ask the Astros motorcoach to stop off on 355, so he can take a leak and re-live the old memories. I won't be booing him, Ive already gave him enough grief at Cubs games in the bleachers, but I guess its pretty safe to say I'm happy that we aren't overpaying his lazy azz. People forget that this trade didnt just bring Pods and Viz. Allowed us to sign Iguchi, AJ, and Hermanson. RING.
  3. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 03:18 PM) who needs a third baseman bad? After today, probably the Cubs.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 03:13 PM) Well, hes the best hitter out of anyone we have called up this year, so im hoping for better results. Absolutely.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) I concur. I liked him last year when he was up, and he has learned a bit more patience. He has also been raking. Come on Josh!! Problem being, all of our offense call-up were raking when initally called up, only to go into horrible slumps as soon as they were placed in a lineup on this team. That being said, I am extremely jacked to see Fields get his shot. I wonder if he'll be in to play tonight?
  6. Add another reason as to why Billy Donovan is the biggest jagoff in basketball. Did someone kill John Wooden and annoint Billy Boy as the new king in basketball?? This guy flip flops more than Kobe.
  7. Many people are shocked about this thinking it would be 2-4 games, taking last years suspension into account and the time he served in the clink. This new commish definitely has a bug up his azz, and that does not bode well for Ron Mexico. If he doenst get suspended at this point, this could get real ugly with profiling.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 11:06 AM) Doesnt matter. Owens should start in leadoff every day to see what we have. Ummm, he is.
  9. Does this thread really have 8 pages?? Hilarious. What has Sox fandom come to?
  10. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) anyone think this will actually be played tonight? No. They will wait this one out for a bit, especially with a huge Yankee crowd on hand.....but the showers have been off and on all day and despite the crap that the weather channel busts out, it hasnt stopped raining for a full hour all day. Even if it does stop for an full hour, the SOdfather would need at least that amount of time to get the field back into playing shape.
  11. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 02:03 PM) He should try Iguchi or mack leading off and tell them they can not swing until they have two strikes to start the game. I actually really like the idea of giving a shot to Iguchi at lead off. The numbers may not indicate it, but that could just work. We already know he is a smart hitter, its just a matter of if he could adjust and take pitches.
  12. Hunter Pence, Jerry Owens is certainly not, but at this point, bringing up some talent thats not considered a top prospect that has alot to prove can really help jumpstart the veterans on the club. If Owens gets on base, I think he'll be able to cause some problems right away.
  13. Looks like Torii Hunter doesnt have to be clutch. Thank f***ing god I'm going to the Cubs game tonight to take my mind off this pathetic s***. I don't care if my name is Ron Santo, nothing could be as bad as the game we just witnessed. Macdougal better be cut within a half hour.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 30, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) Fathom, get ready for a new addition to the signature. No Jenks here? Oh, right, we're saving him for a save opportunity that's never going to come about. Mariano Rivera??
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:29 PM) Jim Thome = 4 for 28 against LHP with no extra base hits. Isnt Baker a righty?? nevermind, I paid no attention in bettwen calls that they brought Miller in.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) You mean "next year", the year that Ozzie/KW are already admitting there's likely to be less talent on the team? Not sure where the hell the rest of team will stand, but I'd sure love to have Hunter right about now.
  17. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) Torii Hunter is Mr. Clutch. I wish the Sox had him. At least we can borrow something from the Cubbies??? Wait 'til next year??
  18. I wanna rock..... I wanna rock..... I wanna rock right now. He's Rob Base and he came to get down. Oaklawn in da house.
  19. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:32 PM) I'm gonna try to stay positive today. Maybe that will work. Come on Crede, let's get a base hit!! Well 30+ pitches for Baker is certainly not a good thing for him... I dont believe he's made it out of the 6th inning in any start so far.
  20. for those of us stuck at the office without mlb radio on right now, what exactly happened??? Did Hunter rob us again?? The kid is fixing to make a HUGE payday. Certainly wouldnt suck if it were us.
  21. Perhaps a little encouraging??? Big day from Rob Base today. Rob Mackowiak is 3-for-3 with a double in his career against Baker. Mackowiak is hitting .360 with five RBIs and five runs scored in his last seven games
  22. First game thread ever. We need a change, and I'm happy to supply it. For cripes sake fellas, get a damn WIN today!!! Today's Lineup Erstad, Iguchi, Thome, Dye, PK, Mack, Crede, Cintron, Hall. Garland is 7-6 with a 3.96 ERA lifetime against Minnesota and has a 5-4 career record at the Metrodome.
  23. Saw it last night as well, and I thought it was pretty good with satisfying closure to the series, if it is indeed done (it should be left at 3) I'll leave the spoilers out of the thread for now, though there is plenty to talk about with this final story. For all of those that thought Dead Man's Cheast was confusing, buckle in your seatbelts for this one, because until they start providing answers and reasons near the end, this one is one big giant clusterf**k. Disney movies usually don't have this much depth, but adds to the re-playability of these movies again and again. The movie makes one point abundantly clear, Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow is forever among the elite of celebrated movie characters throughout history. The Pirates movies may not stack up to the likes of Lord of the Rings or Star Wars, but the characters in the pirates movies will be forever remembered. Everythign from the acting, to the wardrobes, to the scenes and backdrops is exceptional in this series. Its trying to latch onto the characters and the always revolving story that gets confusing and at times, downright annoying. Nevertheless, At World's End comes through on most all accounts for a nice summer blockbuster. I liked it much better than "Dead Man's", and where it doesnt come close to touching "Black Pearl" (what fantasy trilogy can ever beat the 1st?) this installment is not meant to be compared to the other 2, rather tie everything together ito one. You have to go into this movie expecting to see the 3rd movie, not expecting it will be better than 1. Plenty of great one-liners out of Depp and the overhyped Keith Richards cameo is pretty fun as well. The action scenes in this movie are phenomenal. Often times there will be swrodfighting going on between several different characters, yet you still never lose the storyline (or at least what you think the storyline is). "At World's End" does have some cheesy parts that it could defintely have done without, but nothing overly too serious that will ruin the rest of the movie for you. I've been a Pirates fan since the first movie, but had my doubts about this one becoming too much of a love story between Will and Elizabeth. Happy to report that is not the case...if you are a fan of the series, def by all means check this out, you will get your answers.... even if you are not a fan, this is a very enjoyable popcorn movie to kick off the summer with.
