QUOTE (Sockin @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 03:22 PM) This could be bull considering it's a new twitter account but FWIW. #RedSox Kevin Youkilis & Cash Considerations traded to #WhiteSox for Matt Thornton & PTBNL. #MLB https://twitter.com/98_5sportshub/status/216610937690537986 ...blech. I hope it was ALL the cash.

My blanket answer to pretty much all 3Bs that cost nothing: sure, why not?

Didn't get to see the game but DAMN! Looking at the box score, hat was some bullpen work.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 12:27 AM) Was this poll taken after Oz's comments about Castro? Then it's poorly timed. If the only fair time to take this poll is when Ozzie has not recently said something stupid, then there is no fair time to take this poll.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 01:58 PM) What's really funny is the Tigers have gotten the worst production out of the DH spot in the American League. It boggles the mind. They will trade for Mark Kotsay soon

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) There are also a lot of runs that don't show up as unearned that are the result of poor defense (plus runs saved based upon stellar defense). Tigers have failed to turn a ton of dp's and those failed DP's don't show up as errors. Tigers defense is truly horrific, and a lot of people called it. I don't understand why that obvious prediction never made it into any publications' projections. I guess it just proves that no matter how much baseball writers adopt metrics, they will never stop being enamored with offense.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) Because god forbid a 23 year old lefty under team control can develop a pitch or two. If this is the case, I'd like him practicing down in the minors when Danks comes back where he can feel free to experiment without consequences. If he developed another pitch, I would trust what I've seen much more.
-
Best thing I can say about him, though, is that his stat line, stuff and control resemble one Mark Buehrle. I had more faith in Buehrle's ability to get the breaking stuff over, though.

Damn you, triplicate post! My computer hates soxtalk sometimes. At least my post count is going up!

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 12:12 PM) Keep up the smoke and mirrors, New Q! And Kenny, feel free to trade him and that inflated value! This. Seriously, seriously this. I suppose I may look like an ass in the future, but relying on the location of that mediocre fastball like he does...I dunno about that...he has one day when his control isn't pinpoint and the opponent brings that ERA back to the 4's where it should be in a hurry. Trade him while his ERA is sub-2!

Who would you rather go out for beers with: Ozzie or Robin?

QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 02:34 PM) Robin, Ozzie, Manuel. Ya gotta f*** one, kill one, marry one, GO! This ump picks Manuel EDIT: Although, that looks more like a slow lean-in. Maybe he picks Manuel to marry. -
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 02:08 AM) Yikes! Caption this photo? "Well, no s***" -Chris Sale's Surgeon

Robin. It'd be too easy to piss Ozzie off and end up being yelled at for 45 minutes. I think the only person capable of pissing Robin off is Nolan Ryan, and my fastball is like 65 mph so I'm probably safe. -
Haven't a bunch of Dunn's homers been of the game-tying or go-ahead variety? I think the import of those home runs vastly outweighs the import of those K's. Not to pile on or anything

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) Cardinals fans I know love Sox fans, as they have the whole "hate the Cubs" thing in common QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 10:21 PM) I've definitely forged many "shaky alliances" with Cardinal fans out of our mutual hate of the Cubs Man, Carbondale must just have some particularly belligerent Cards fans
-
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 10:18 PM) What's been your experience w/ the Cardinal fan take on the White Sox? Do you get the feeling there's a shaky alliance there or is it just basically all-out anti-Chicago bias The southern IL anti-Chicago bias is of course based in a lot of things They hate every team that's not the Cardinals. They particularly hate the Sox because they're a Chicago team, just not quite as much as the Cubs. EDIT: My experience in Southern Illinois, anyway

Story of Gordo's season...

Oooo, a base hit here would be amazing. 4 ER in 3 innings against King Felix...yes please!

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) As bad as Wegner's call was, it doesn't top Charlie Haeger getting tossed for hitting a guy with a knuckleball. Oh yeah, that was horsecrap. I forgot about that one.

I feel like this season really needs a banner

Fantastic work! I like happy Peavy, because rageface Peavy makes me uncomfortable -
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) I'm not talking about the discussion here - I'm talking about the discussion in the media. I mean, it's not going to be a national discussion, but in terms of local media, everyone agrees that it was a bad decision by the umpire, too. At least on The Score. Even B&B, notorious mockers of Hawk's, think the ump should have issued warnings after the AJ plunking.
-
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 12:35 PM) The sad thing about all this is that the discussion on this umpire incident is entirely about Harrelson, because of the way he reacted, instead of the fact that the umpire clearly wronged the White Sox unfairly to the extent it could have cost them a game. I think everyone's pretty well in consensus on that point. I haven't heard anyone defend the ump's decision. I don't even think most of us have a huge problem with AJ getting drilled since he went spikes-up and all that, but it was crystal clear that warnings should have been issued after he got plunked.
