Was that LIDP as annoying as it sounded on the radio?
-
I'm calling him VII and I don't care who says I should do otherwise! I just hope RV doesn't feel the urge to throw him into a game ASAP. Control issues (which some have suggested he might have) vs. the Yankees is a bad combo.

Aaron Rowand Working Radio During Yanks Series

Grindiest broadcast in Sox history? -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 05:00 PM) Johnson is more deserving of an opportunity than Axelrod. He should replace Hudson at least. If sports opportunities were about who "deserved" what, the sports landscape would be much different. As it stands, the "undeserving" Axelrod got a shot because we have two SP's on the DL. If we have two 1B's on the DL, Dan Johnson probably WILL get called up.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 10:11 AM) Hudson turned into jackson who turned into stewart who turned into Youkilis, Sox won as of right now No no, Chris Young turned into Vazquez who turned into Lillibridge who turned into Youkilis. You forget yourself, sir!

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 02:27 AM) Put my 25 in. Just 25? This is Chicago, your dead ferret should be voting! EDIT: Sorry I had to bring up Snuggles, but it was urgent. We are all sorry for your loss.

QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 09:10 AM) And this magical location that we're going to move to is where? Jacksonville! It's GENIUS!

QUOTE (Lillian @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 08:37 AM) Your assertion that "Viciedo has done more at the Major League level then Johnson ever has", should not go unchallenged. In Johnson's last Major League season in which he had any meaningful playing time, he hit .236, but with a .349 OBP, to go along with 20 doubles and 18 home runs, in just 419 at bats. I'd take those numbers over Viciedo's current season, in a heartbeat. It should also be noted that Johnson put up those numbers in Oakland, which is not nearly the hitters park in which Viciedo is playing. All that said, I agree that "Tank" will eventually become a much better player than Johnson. I just don't think that he is there yet, and I'd really like to see the Sox put the best team on the field for this season because I think they have a legitimate shot at wnning it all. That year, Jake Peavy won the Cy Young, Jimmy Rollins won NL MVP, Mike Lowell was World Series MVP and buying houses was, like, the smrtest investment EVAR!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 03:44 AM) Guess I'm the only one kind of bummed by this. With apparent attitude issues aside (as briefly mentioned above), Ohman is one of the few guys on the roster I can say that Ventura has perfectly mishandled. Perhaps part of it is the fact that Ventura does not like Ohman and that Ohman is not well liked in the clubhouse, so then it's a totem pole game, but Ohman is and has been great against lefties this year (.186/.250/.281/.513) and for the duration of his career (.210/.294/.308/.571). He can't get righties out. This has been the book on him for a while. Yet Ventura continued to use him in an inning eating and long relief role, which will simply lead opposing managers to just take all of their mediocre lefties out of the lineup in place of inferior righties who can and will hit Ohman to death. At this point, the Sox need a guy who can eat innings, regardless of handedness. Leesman seems like a perfectly legitimate candidate at this point in time. I will name Santos Rodriguez as a wildcard, for shiz and gigz I suppose the rebuttal is that if your manager wants his lefties to be somewhat versatile and is going to use his pen the way he has been, Will Ohman should definitely be gone. It would be nice if Ventura would adapt to his roster, though.

Already have two lefties without Ohman, no good reason Ohman's replacement needs to be a lefty as well. Hector Santiago is fully capable of filling Ohman's role so I think we bring up a righty.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 04:11 PM) It ties the biggest lead of the year again. Thanks, couldn't remember if we made it to 3 or not

Yankees win, Sox 2.5 up! Sweeeeet. Is that our high-water mark in the division?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 10:05 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8091584/...icago-white-sox Love the quotes from everyone, especially Konerko, Pedroia, Punto. LOL at Cherington's assessment of Stewart. Well, someone with the Yankees understimated Quintana, so maybe we're doing the same with Zach, just not seeing it at all. Haha that video is some of the worst analysis I've ever seen "With Youkilis, you've got a person. Genus homo, species sapiens. He's right-handed. He hits a baseball for a living. That's a lot of plusses for the White Sox."
-
I like this MUCH better than the Thornton rumor! Our team doesn't really depend on either of the players we sent off, either now or in the future. And they don't have to pay him THAAAAT much. Sweet.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 07:19 AM) http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/...de-for-youkilis This Levine article says any pitching/prospects going to the Red Sox would likely be Class A pitchers. No names. Mitchell makes zero sense because of their glut of outfielders already. Other teams are looking to trade for some of their excess. Trading Gavin Floyd makes zero sense at his lowest possible value (well almost, one start isn't going to raise it SO much) and with Danks' return uncertain...as well as how well he would pitch upon return, Humber out, Quintana and Sale looking at IP limits in August/September, etc. Not to mention while Peavy looks great so far, he has to prove he can pitch one full/healthy season in a Sox uniform. Wait, since when is Q on an innings limit? Makes sense for Sale whose fate is critical to the future of the team, but Q is not worth handwringing over

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 04:56 PM) Several major and minor league - royals and tbones. Great post. I heard some fan call a talk show the other day and said he'd been to 10 parks last year and they asked him to quickly rate them all and the Cell was last. He said 'the park in chicago' when he got to the Cell. Well, random jackass on a "talk show" was wrong. The Cell is not a magical place, but it's far nicer than many other parks I've been to, and definitely underrated. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 04:11 PM) Am I the only person who wouldn't mind seeing Thornton go at all? I'm sick of him, really. I cringe every time he is in a ballgame, and he seems to fold under any sort of pressure. In fact, Fangraphs back this idea up. In LOW leverage situations, he has a 0.00 ERA with a .148 BAA, 0.76 WHIP In MED leverage sitatuions, he has a 2.89 ERA with a .308 BAA, 1.61 WHIP In HIGH leverage situations, he has a 12.70 ERA with a .400 BAA, 2.12 WHIP Thornton is GOD AWFUL in pressure situations. And those trends are the same for the past few years. You are not wrong. I just think he's got more value than Youk, both to the White Sox and, by reputation, to the rest of MLB. No faith in a Youk return to form. I wouldn't lament the loss of Thornton a whole lot, though.

Hurray! It's a fake!

Man, between Q and Axelrod, that has to be some of the worst stuff to grace a major league squad Not that they're not fully capable of performing. But that's some slow flatness dusting those corners.

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) DA time is right now. Strike em out Axlrose. We need to stop having players with those initials

Better Matty than a young arm, I suppose. Neutral move for the future, risky move for the present.
