  1. I almost wonder if he is waiting on the Cubs.
  2. Again, this is why Bob Nightengale is a water carrier. Now he gets this exclusive interview.
  3. Yeah, I get the whole thing, but at the same time, no state spends more time talking about how they don't need anyone or anything else, and how shitty the rest of the country is. I feel bad for the individuals, but the whole kind of Texas persona pretty much asked for it.
  4. Yep, it is official. Jerry kneecapped his own guys for his own guy.
  5. lol, OK Boo... wait. The whole TLR persona of everything idealized about the 1950s. If you aren't succeeding, you aren't trying hard enough. Everything is better the old way. Players have to conform to cookie cutter roles. Show too much personality, and you are bad for the game. Politics and sports are some how separate. Baseball's unwritten rules. Failure just means you haven't been beaten enough. Players should be seen and not heard, especially if they were going to violate those unwritten rules. This generation of baseball should be dead and buried. It is 2021. Let the 20th century's style of baseball go Tony.
  6. It's easy right now. Things get interesting next week when guys start working with each other and start really interacting. We will really learn something when things go badly. How doesn't Tony treat people when things go wrong? How do obviously more sensitive guys with loud voices react if Tony gets on them? How does Tony react if guys push back against his Boomer antics? What happens if Tony's politics run into a guy like TAs politics head on? These are the types of things that could shatter this team quickly.
  7. Why would they give him away until they find something better?
  8. I suppose that is better than Tadahito.
  9. I still am 100% against the hire, and haven't spent a dime on anything that would go back to the White Sox since it happened. I plan on continuing that until he is gone.
  10. TA has given some interviews lately saying he was pretty upset about this in the beginning, but has started to come around as he has talked to TLR more. Hopefully it lasts once things start going for real.
  11. It would already be a lot warmer very quickly if it wasn't for the snowpack.
  12. I have picked up some good pieces over the years. I eventually got the giveaways for the trophy and ring replicas. I got a 1 of 500 engraved bat as a Christmas present in 2005. I also picked up an official 2005 World Series ball, and have some player autographs on World Series balls.
  13. That's what I keep getting told he is. The fact that no one seems to want to acquire him goes to backing up what I have been saying all along in that he is most likely a 4A players and of no real value without a position. Again, refer to the post which referred to not playing Yermin Mercedes as Rick Hahn's biggest mistake.
  14. I had four job offers in broadcasting coming out of college and took none of them, just because of how hard it is to make in the field.
  15. So if a team sees value in a player, they won't trade for him simply because the other team doesn't promote them, even if he is going to be the next superstar catcher in baseball, and only the White Sox management can't see it, and instead they are going to wait and hope they are the only team that feels that way about him once he hits waivers. Makes sense.
  16. I see it more like this... The Sox had this hole and even with having every piece of statistical data on Yermin Mercedes, they still chose to play guys like AJ Reed and Matt Skole over him. The Sox know more than anyone in baseball about Yermin, and still went out and found waiver wire garbage to start over him. Even with the Sox decision making, no other team in baseball has been wiling to acquire Mercedes. The odds are really, really, really high that 2+2=4 here, and he joins the scrap heap of 4A players who never could break though after putting up insane minor league hitting numbers.
  17. So what are we having the discussion about? A one in a thousand chance that he is special? That's your point? Again we are talking about a 27 year old without a defensive position. He is not an option at catcher. That is 100% for sure. He's also not going to be the DH because of Vaughn. Despite all of that, the Sox have not traded him to someone else who wanted him more. Why are we wasting time lamenting Yermin Mercedes then, and entertaining someone calling him Rick Hahn's biggest failure?
  18. So your argument is that Yermin Mercedes is a once in a generation player, with just one major league AB and no defensive position. Pass.
  19. Edgar Martinez had a .300 season with am OPS of 800 by age 27, including about 1000 MLB PAs. Let's not be ridiculous here.
  20. You are embarrassing all of us Midwesterners.
  21. Yermon Mercedes in all likelihood is a 4A player. He has no defensive position to play. You are talking about his skills in the past tense like he has proven anything.
  22. Not playing a back up DH is a bigger blunder than Tatis for Shields. This is officially a parody account now. Yermin doesn't rank in the top 10, let alone #1.
