A LOT of teams have had chances at Yermin and yet he is still here.

Right. Hopefully you aren't expecting Mike Trout here.

I squint and see Paul Konerko.

How many baseball teams do you think would be willing to hire a guy who wasn't a team player and actively was undermining his last employer after quitting on them?

At that point then he has to answer to the media as to why he left in the middle of a season, and with no actual family situation to feed the media they get to then speculate endlessly as to what happened for him to quit on a championship level team in the middle of the year. He also gets to go into every interview from there on out (if he can get any) and either lie about why he quit to his new teams as well, or let each team he interviews with in on the secrets of the Astros, both of which makes him look awful in an interview situation.

New name from Jimmy via Peter Gammons.

Pretty sure when you interview for a job, they don't come out and tell you the illegal things they are doing until at least AFTER they hire you. He wouldn't have known this stuff until he walked into it.

Welcome to the USA, where a snitch is worse than the actual crime.

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?

Bah, that was supposed to be Bregman. -
This is also a great question. He's never had to answer to this.

He's lucky. To spin this another way, the reason that SEC instituted a 10% finders fee for reporting misdoings in the financial industry is because people were scared to report these types of things because whistleblowers get blacklisted. I have zero doubt that if Hinch sells out everyone above and below him before this is public, he never works in MLB again. In this case he took some public lumps, but it looks like he is going to have another job right away.

I am definitely not saying it is right, but more of a fact of life.

White Sox fan taunts Astros during ALCS

It isn't about what he said, it is about how he said it. This guy figured out how to get into a series where there was no admission to the games. He figured out that in a normal playoff situation, there would be 40,000 people hanging on every single pitch, and his voice would never get heard, even with a bullhorn. He also figured out how to get national media attention drawn back to the Astros, and how to make the Astros have to actually hear it, and talk about it. Again. No one else has managed to achieve any of it. -
We have seen it in many other industries. Whistleblowers don't get hired.

Graduated from the same small town Indiana college that I did. One of the best to ever put on a headset. There was nothing better than listening to him and Eddie O on a Sunday afternoon game. -
Hopefully this is all a ruse to get Tony one last big payday somewhere else.

I think the angle that if Hinch speaks out, he never works in MLB again is pretty underappreciated here. The way he went at it, he is probably getting rehired this winter.
-
Seeing as Chris Sale is going to miss some portion of next season, I don't think you can assume that for 2021. No doubt a HEALTHY Chris Sale is significantly better, but we can't make that assumption anymore, plus we KNOW he is going to miss some portion of the season due to TJS.

Ricky for sure. No interest in TLR. In fact I think it would be a detriment for him to go into a clubhouse and tell a guy like Tim Anderson he can't kneel for the national anthem.

This is pretty genius of a heckling. It is also silly to think that players didn't get cheated out of money here. There are a couple of careers that may have been destroyed along the way of guys who got blown up as pitchers by this scam.
