  1. See there's the difference. Why spend 40 years angry at the owner? You see this as important. I see it as a waste of time.
  2. So we get to use the extra out from the 1st inning now, right?
  3. These guys are going to fun. Abreu is going to love having a great threat behind him.
  4. You worry way too much. If you are going to be upset about the contract based on a post covid world, you can't get angry about a pre-covid deal. No one planned on this. Especially because the idea that he was the riskiest pitcher on the market is just ridiculous either pre or post covid. And yes, with the extensions Eloy, Yoan and Robert are all still cheap for years.
  5. I don't think you have looked at the complete lack of payroll commitments this team has for the next few years.
  6. Yeah, I think they viewed Dallas and EE as guys who could buy time and move up the arrival date by a season.
  7. The thing is if EE fails, then you still have Collins and the rest of them. Without EE you have one less option, and ones that all have much larger question marks on them than EE does.
  8. You also have to ignore what he did for the rest of the season to come to that big number. For EE we are talking full seasons over eight years. For Collins, we are talking about a fraction of one in the minors.
  9. A "DH option" isn't the same as what EE has done over his career. His lowest OPS in the last 8 seasons is .875. Collins hasn't come within 50 points of that in the minors. They are not equal options. EE also offers protection to young hitters like Robert and Eloy, as well as to Abreu. The players you listed and EE are not equal.
  10. The roster part is a good point. Mediocre teams can have good starters, but good teams have depth behind those starters. If guys like Collins can continue to advance, they will get a chance. With guys like Abreu and EE, you can typically count on a DL stay in a 162 game season. In a season where no one has worked out like normal, you might actually see more injuries, not to mention that Covid is also going to create completely unexpected opportunities for players.
  11. Also of note is Colas commenting on the post.
  12. They got a top level hitter who can hit today, for sure. They want to win the division, not next year or two years down the road, but today. Collins is a probably hitter who can't play a defensive position. EE is a top level power hitter. They are looking to win now, which is why EE. Collins will either make himself a spot, or move on.
  13. Payrolls and $$$ could make for an interesting trade season. In general I think most teams aren't going to do much, but it will be interesting to see if anyone HAS to move cash out of their doors, and what the premium will look like for those who are wiling to take it on.
  14. Because even at his peak he won't be able to hit like EE, and this is a team that is trying to move its timeline up a year or two.
  15. Of all things, we have done a lot more walking around the hometown with this. Especially on the weekends when the trails fill up, just walking the neighborhood has been a nice release.
  16. I voted under, but the more I think about it, that is like 5.5 R/G so I think we go over that, especially with the mess that pitching is going to be this year, between COVID and injuries related to the type of training pitchers have gotten this year, plus how much shorter good starters are going to be able to go early this year, I keep thinking how many innings are going to be thrown by really BAD pitchers this year. I think we might end up closer to 350 runs scored.
  17. Pretty sure he is associated with WBBM, as I think Delta One is behind their station.
  18. I believe this calls for a solid "OK, Boomer"
